“Short Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2014

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst climbing Snowdon.
Perfect for a short break
The staff were very helpful.
Breakfast choice was extensive and good quality.
Room was a little on small side but couldn't complain

Just back from our 2nd stay here at Tyn Rhos, It was for a special occasion my wife's 50th Birthday.
Our room was fantastic (room 2 ) with a lovely terrace overlooking the pond and views of Angelsey
We ate in the restaurant and were lucky enough to have the fresh local lobster for our starter which melted in the mouth , if you don't like lobster here then i`m afraid you never will !! all our food during the course of the evening was a fantastic experience with spot on service and a delightful bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc which complimented our meal.
Also we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea in the conservatory
This family run Hotel is a real hidden gem.
Cannot wait for stay number 3 !!!

I am always apprehensive when I book an independent hotel online just by looking at their website, although Tripadvisor helps! Even more pressure on this occasion, was that I recommended the hotel to four other colleagues based on my internet research of the area!

Before I arrived one of my colleagues sent me an email headed "So Beautiful," she liked the hotel! We arrived and received a very warm welcome, were shown around the hotel and informed our friends and colleagues were out in the garden enjoying a bottle of wine. We were personally shown our room and the receptionist was concerned that I was too tall for it, so was ready to move us if we did not like it!

In total there were six of us, the staff looked after us well. They were very attentive, without being intrusive (exactly what you would expect in a 5 star hotel) friendly and happy to join in banter. A table had been set for us for dinner in the dining room and we just knew from the ambience, the staff and the menu that we were about to enjoy an excellent meal.

Each of our meals was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection and an absolute delight to eat! We retired to the lounge, which is tastefully furnished, very comfortable and again were well looked after by the team.

Breakfast was a delight too, very few hotels now cook a fresh breakfast, this one does and you remember just how good breakfast can taste!

Unfortunately on our second night we had to eat at the Royal Victoria Hotel in Llanberris, this was the polar opposite to our meal at Tyn Rhos.

This is a hotel you will want to go back too for a short break, weekend or just to chill. It is comfortable and easy to relax in. Don't even think of going out for dinner, just relax in the hotel or garden beforehand, then enjoy an excellent eating experience. We will visit the area again just to stay at this hotel to enjoy a short break!

Very good accommodation, the most comfortable bed and great food in a very casual but professional atmosphere. Such was the atmosphere that you could dress up a little for dinner without feeling overdressed or be more casual (as is the norm these days) which ever you preferred. I think such good food and dining facilities are worth making an occasion and a little effort and not out of place at this establishment although they do emphasise that it is not at all pretentious. Very well located for the Caernarvon area and the walk on Anglesey along Newborough Beach to the Island is not to be missed (good parking and facilities on the beach with currently £3, all day) Well worth it.

Room Tip: Views of the garden are lovely rooms

My daughter and I chose this hotel because of all the previous good reviews and we weren't disappointed. Our room was spacious, very clean and had a beautifully appointed bathroom. Also every amenity we could wish for was provided, ie: plenty of tea/coffee etc., sewing kit/shoe shine, ample shower gel/shampoo etc. and fabulously comfy beds. The view from the room (No.9 Welsh Poppy) was lovely, overlooking the garden and the fields beyond towards Anglesey. It was really peaceful and relaxing, with no annoying noise to disturb our sleep. We had Surf & Turf as our main course in the restaurant which was a meal to remember. The chef is obviously a true professional. It surpassed anything you might get in a top London hotel. We thought it was a nice touch to have complimentary canapes in the conservatory beforehand.
Breakfast was plentiful and varied, but also delicious, with thoughtful additions such as local yogurt and sausages amongst other things. It was refreshing to be served rather than have to queue at a toast machine! The staff were all friendly and accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely highly recommend this establishment without hestitation and hope to make a return visit soon. It is also ideally situated for trips around Snowdonia, Anglesey and Portmeirion.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel on the first floor appear to have better views of the countryside and...

We stayed here for one night at the end of April 2014 as we had a 'ride' booked at Zipworld. I picked the hotel based on the location to Zipworld (approx 6 miles away) and the reviews on tripadvisor.
We were not disappointed. Friendly, professional staff who offered us an upgrade from the double courtyard room that we had booked and who showed us around the hotel as soon as we arrived.
The hotel itself is very welcoming and comfortable with various areas to sit and chill and watch the evening sun go down.
We did not have the evening meal as we wanted to explore and drive around the nearby villages and ended up eating at the Royal Oak in Betws-y-Coed which was friendly and served good food.
Despite us being offered an upgrade we opted for the original courtyard room that we were offered and this was spacious, comfortable, clean and with a lovely big bathroom...obviously designed by a woman as it had lots of shelf space and mirrors!
Great nights sleep.
The breakfast is served in a very cosy dining room and there is a good choice of cereals, fruit, nuts yoghurts laid out in one part, which together with the very scrummy full Welsh breakfast, really sets you up for the day.
All in all if you want a friendly, relaxed well run hotel you cannot go wrong with the Tyn Rhos and we will definitely be staying here again...soon we hope!

Room Tip: Courtyard room was quiet and a very good size
