“Karate celebration”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

We visited this friendly restaurant at the weekend with a group of 20. The management and staff were very accommodating I could thoroughly recommend this establishment as they provided us with a private area for us all to be together. Well done and thanks for a great evening. I personally had garlic mushrooms as a starter, Rib eye steak as the main meal all washed down with a very nice Gaelic coffee to end up a lovely evening.

If only establishment's like the Black Boy inn in Caernarfon treated its customers with such politeness and service. Well done Gors Bach, we will come again.

“A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT ALL IN ALL”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2014

We visited here early evening after saying for ages we should call to see what it's like as we haven't been there for years. Reading all the other reviews on here I find it hard to believe we had visited the same place.
The building and décor etc are very nice and while the menu and specials on offer were original and varied I thought on the whole prices were somewhat excessive. £12.95 for 8oz gammon is far more than you would pay for 10/12oz gammon in most other similar restaurant's in the area.
Service was mixed in that the young girl serving and waitressing was very pleasant and helpful. Service however was very slow which I would guess was not barmaid/waitresses fault.
When we arrived there was only 1 other party dining. Another couple came in at the same time as ourselves and they ordered just before ourselves. I don't know what happened to their order but we had received and eaten our starter and mains while they still hadn't received their food at all. Other people who came in after us were left standing and waiting at the bar as the only girl working was off in the kitchen. They are obviously running the place on skeleton staff.
The food however was very good and worth waiting for.
As I said previously it is hard to equate the experience we had compared to the majority of views on here.
We will definitely go back and try it again sometime as hopefully this was a one off blip.

We are sorry that you were not completed satisfied with your visit to the Gors Bach, we are glad that you enjoyed your food and the decor. Unfortuneatley we were a little short staffed at late notice that night and were unable to resolve the situation despite our best efforts. All are food is homemade, freshly prepared and cooked to order so occasionally there is a little delay depending on what has been ordered. We endevour to be competitive with our pricing offering a varied menu which is value for money for individuals , groups and families. We are a small family run buisness and take all comments to heart, positive and negative and are always aiming to improve our service provision. We look forward to seeing you again in the near future.
Thanks for your comments,
Louise and John

“Brilliant food! ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

There was a large table of us (19) booked for sunday carvery. The staff were brilliant and all the food was home cooked by a talanted chef! They were even friendly when our barely potty trained daughter had a little accident. We will deffinately be back soon!

“Sunday lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

What a fantastic place for sunday lunch. We prebooked (wise precaution) and even though there were more of us than planned no-one was phased. The carvery was stunning, really tender meat and an excellent selection of vegetables, all beautifully cooked. The meat was generously served, and the veg was self serve, so you could be as piggy as you wanted... and it was very tempting to be piggy as it was all so delicious.
If we had a criticism it was that it was very warm, but that was partly to do with all the tables being full, which tells its own tale of a very popular place.

“Nearly 5 stars, very good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2014 via mobile

Popped in here for an evening meal on Friday night with the family. There were 3 other tables taken only and I think that all orders must have hit the kitchen at once as it took 40 minutes for simple starters of soup and garlic bread....But what soup! Lovely, fresh tomato and basil soup.

Service was very friendly but a tad slow. Also, if I'm being picky one of the servers need training as while he was friendly his service was amateurish and bumbling.

Decor also needs improving, the place looks a little tired in places, racks of 2nd books is kind of weird but "it's for charity!" so will let that one go. Finally, a tile in the men's bathroom was of the wall and leaning against it. All of this means I have to knock a start off my review score.

But the food.....it's excellent and great value. And this is why we returned for a 2nd visit and service was quicker too.

So, in summary, excellent food, friendly service, good value (get some NZ Sauvignon though please!) but the place needs a little tlc and one or two staff members need a little training.

Overall, highly recommend!
