“The Perfect Get-Away”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

I agree with so many of the previous reviews- this B&B is magical. Every detail is considered and is the decor is just what you would hope for in a Mexican get-away. The rooms are stunning, large, and include a gas fireplace. So romantic. The outside spaces are equally as inviting, with the rooftop terrace being a particular draw. It has a pristing grilling space, so be sure to take advantage of the view and prepare your own meal al fresco- I know we will do so when we return.

I think it takes a special person to open their home to travelers and run a B&B. Antonietta and Francisco are just that- they are warm and eager to make your stay special. I look forward to visiting them again!

The pictures online don't do this place justice. My wife and I stayed here for two nights in August and had a wonderful time. Our room was beautiful, large, and very comfortable. The vaulted ceilings and gas fireplace set just the right mood. The hotel is really well maintained and we couldn't hear a peep from any of the other guests. It is obvious that the inn keepers have thought of every little detail to make your stay enjoyable. The decor was perfect and the food was delicious. A must see is the enormous rooftop deck with a view of the entire city. Grab a bottle of wine or the owner's home brew and park yourself up there at sunset. You can be in town in less than five minutes, but keep in mind that your return will be uphill - that is the price you pay for such a wonderful view. Lastly, the inn keepers will go out of their way to make your stay memorable - this hotel is clearly their pride and joy.

I honestly felt like I was dreaming as I opened this little door off an alley and saw the most beautiful hotel! Absolutely every part of the hotel is just so detailed, romantic, and truly an experience. The room was FAR nicer than any other hotel room, with very personal touches throughout. The breakfast is a sit down meal where the cook prepares a very authentic Mexican breakfast. Definitely a place I will recommend!

Truly a home away from home....

Trying not to sound cliche but quite frankly it's an impossible task as Antonieta (proprietor) has the MOST amazing B&B I have EVER experienced in my life!!!

I have had the opportunity to experience pretty amazing B&B'S in Cuba, Argentina as well as all over the U.S. and I can assure you A. Capilla unequivocally is #1 on so many levels.

My black AmEx card concierges hand select 5 star elite properties in and out of the U.S. for my husband and I for almost 10 years now ...candidly speaking they have all had very special qualities but NONE can compare to Antonieta's magic touch!

Points of attn:
+Antonieta and her staff are the MOST attentive & friendly folks I have encountered at ANY B&B ever!
+the ENTIRE property is white glove clean! Disinfected tiles I can go on forever...she is a fanatic about hygiene and it shows!
+the beds and linens are challenging to peel oneself away from ....heaven on earth sleeping in her supple duvets and super cozy beds. I need to find out where she purchases these linens. Ahhhhh....nice!
+spacious rooms with every amenity one can ask for.
+feels more like a sanctuary as it's 1 of the MORE quieter properties I experienced during my 5 days in SMA. (places in town that are rated higher (not sure how) are NOISIER as they are in the heart of town.
+perfect location
+the staff puts together a delicious breakfast (their homemade jellies are amazing).
+their layout allows enough personal space where one feels like you have the B&B to yourself :)
+THE ROOFTOP TERRACE has a spectacular view of SMA.
+Antonieta has everything covered to include late night munchies (plenty of snack options) and beverages to help yourself too, via an honor system. So clever!
Beer, wine, chips, coffee, tea, cookies, peanuts, granola and much more.

The most interesting and memorable part of the property has to be the Antigua Capilla ...refer to pic's.

The warm welcome you will receive is priceless!

*Decided to celebrate my b-day in SM...what a gift to return to Antigua Capilla :) I can't wait!!!

We were lucky to find a room at this magnificent property. Bed and Breakfast doesn't describe the feeling you have at Antigua Capilla. The owners have meticulously designed and curated a spanish colonial property with the finest Mexican art and furnishings, most custom made by local artisans. The courtyard is built around an original chapel. You will be stunned to know the rest of the property is relatively new. Antonieta's breakfast is outstanding and there is an honor bar fridge with Francisco's homemade brew and various wines. We enjoyed meeting other guests who return frequently and informed us that this is the best place to stay in San Miguel. We arrived from the Four Seasons in Mexico City using the driver Antonieta suggested. I recommend you use their car service as no other driver would be able to find it off the tiny unmarked streets. We've already booked a return stay.

Room Tip: We liked the Mata Ortiz room. The Guerrero has a semi private outdoor space

Best B&B I've stayed in! Location: It's perfectly located and in a private quiet street. Walking distance to town and very safe. Service: Impeccable, lovely owners and very accomodating. It felt as if we we rented an entire hacienda style house to ourselves and were completely comfortable. The breakfast was amazing! Home cooked Mexican food was the best start of our day. Of course after enjoying a beyond comfortable good night sleep in the cozy bed and perfect bedding. Waking up to the sun hitting the courtyard and hearing the hummingbirds sing was beautiful. The entire place is kept very clean and all it's common living areas and roof top patio is available to enjoy any time of the day! Highly recommended for couples, yoga retreats, meditation retreats or just fun pure relaxation! There is no other place I would recommend in San Miguel!

Room Tip: All rooms look out to the beautiful court yard overlooking the Capilla! Any room you choose has a g...
