La Mansion Del Bosque

I stayed here for the forst time. I was travelling alone and just loved the place. i actually booked for next year!! So quaint, full of flowers and plants and I met so many charming people. The location is great, in front of a beautiful park. Meals were very nice except I wished they served a bit more mexican dishes. I asked for breakfast and dinner included. What else can I say?? i would recommend this great place to anyone!!

Room Tip: There no pool here nor is there a fitness center.

We stayed here for three weeks, January 2012 and found the La Mansion Del Bosque to be a wonderful relaxing holiday. The staff are great, the rooms have character and are kept very clean. The meals were terrific, homemade breakfast and four course dinner every night, water is supplied to your room for drinking.
The courtyards are a lovely place to visit, sit in the sun or read a book. You can't beat the location, and can easily walk downtown or stroll in the park, the B&B and the location were very safe.
This is a very economical B&B, we would not have been able to spend near this length of time in San Miguel at many of the other options in San Miquel. This was our first visit to Mexico, we had a great time, enjoyed the history of San Miquel and would certainly go back.

Room Tip: The rooms are all very different, you would have to specify your preferences when booking, For exam...

This bed and breakfast is run by a beautiful and charming lady (Ruth) and her 2 daughters. Each of the guest rooms are totally unique. there are many pieces of original art throughout the building and gorgeous plants everywhere. I felt absolutely at home there.
It is conviently located and close to many attractions with a beautiful park right outside the door.
The housekeeping and restaurant staff all perform their duties well and are very friendly. Many locals stop in for the wonderful breakfast, the fresh fruit is delicious. They also serve a 4 course dinner if you request it. One benefit to having dinner there is that Ruth joins you and the conversation is lively.
Ruth has owned the place since the early 1950's and definitly knows how to entertain you and make recommendations on things to do in and around San Miquel. You can take Tango lessons in the spacious library, and if you are lucky you might get to watch Ruth tango with the instructor.
All in all a very memorable experience!

The car that picked us up at the airport (1 hour away) had no air conditioning and May is the hotest month of the year. The rooms were very clean but the mattresses, sheets and towels were totally worn out and ceiling fan made so much noise I thought it was going to come off of the ceiling. When I asked if I could use their computer to print out my boarding passes they said no. One person in our party did get sick and Ruth, the owner got us some camonile tea for her. Breakfast was nice. The place is very well located but, it is in desparate need of updating!!!!

"Ruth's place" is well known in San Miguel - many really interesting people come in for the breakfasts alone. What is special about this inn is the large number of interesting people who stay there - professionals of all sorts, and artists galore. In contrast to some of those who have written reviews, we found the food very good. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Chilly nights brought firewood and a nice fire in the room. We will certainly return next winter, for a much longer time I hope. This year it was for 10 days.

My family has had the privilege of staying with Ruth at LMdelB numerous times over the past 25 years. The hotel is charming and was built post-WWII. It is charming ... not the Savoy in London or Waldorf in NYC ... it's Colonial Mexico, after all. Those giving the place a bad rep need to stick to chain motels with stale donuts and coffee, and not a kitchen-made breakfast. Management here doesn't "suffer fools," but dolts on people who appreciate being taken care of. I had a group of photographers here over Easter week years ago for a workshop. We were stranded on Easter Sunday by the railroad and owner Ruth rescued our party, put us up for the night, and arranged transport to Nuevo Larado the next day. That's service above and beyond!

we stayed at the La Mansion Del Bosque for one week and found the staff very helpful and friendly. the courtyards are beautiful and the hotel is close to the center of town and wonderful cafes. Some of the rooms there are very nice and spacious, while others are small. It was cool at night and the inn provides a small heater in your room. In the winter season you have to take the inn with 2 meals included but we did not eat at the inn but two nights since we preferred to try local places to eat. The breakfast was great although you have to pay extra for some items. The staff brings water to your room to drink but my GI system preferred bottled water which you can buy in the dining room. You can take Tango classes at the inn if scheduled in advance
Don't miss the markets and all San Miguel has to offer. Easy to walk everywhere and safe. We did take a few side trips which was nice. The shuttle back to the airport was safe and arrived on time . I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, just inquire re the rooms before booking, it would be nice if all the rooms had photos so you have some idea what you are getting. The location was noisy at times but generally was fine.
Ruth and her family can recommend things to do in the area, like horse back riding and visits to the hot springs.
