“Very good visit, great people, great town, small bumps”
Reviewed 22 March 2013

My wife and I after having visited nearly every beach area in Mexico were interested in real mexico rather than disneyland mexico. This area was perfect destination. We found the city of san miguel and the city of Guanajuato safe, clean, people nice, great food. The colonial history and the architecture are amazing.

The property itself is a series of 5 old colonial homes attached to another or across the street from another. Don't let that be a factor. Its a lovely property with gorgeous grounds. The food is good and consistent for high end vacation lovers. The staff is cordial, interested in your well being, most have very good English skills.

The one drawback to our visit was a bit of poor planning and follow up by the hotel. They had staged a dinner party in the courtyard that was immediately in front of our suite. When we returned from dinner to retire for the evening at 10 pm, the party was picking up steam; lasting all til just past midnight. After calling near 11:30 to the desk asking if they should go deal with it or if I should, there were some commitments without follow through. In addition, i asked to have the general manager phone me on 2 occasions; i didn't receive a call, but rather a cheese plate and a note. First, they should be wiser than to schedule an event like that in front of a booked suite. Secondly, i would have been happy if it stopped at 11 (i love a good fiesta like many), lastly..... how hard is it for the GM to reach me in a property of this small size?

Outside of that, great visit. I did take and highly recommend a couple activities.

1. cooking class at Sazon. very fun, clean, memorable.
2. San Miguel walking tour
3. Day trip to Guanajuato
both tours led by a lovely guy, Jesus, who is long time hotel employee. He's kind, well versed in history of both, architecture, art, etc.

We really enjoyed our stay at this wonderful hotel. The location is perfect for walking the entire city and the service was excellent. The rooms are large, charming and decorated in very good taste. The beds are very comfortable and they have a pillow menu to chose from. I highly recommend this hotel.

I stayed at Sierra Nevada Parque for 4 nights. It's a lovely setting in a beautiful location. The first day I took a bath and the floor flooded from the drain in the floor, not the tub--so I was moved and upgraded into an enormous suite. The architecture is incredible, the grounds spectacular, and the service as good as you can get in Mexico. That means, the staff if very accommodating, but it's still slow...

I was there for a Tango Festival, so what is most impressive is that this small hotel managed to host a 'convention' and still feel like a private escape. They did a marvelous job.

It was unseasonably cold, so I asked for them to light fires in my room several times. It was lovely to have fire, but I felt terrible watching staff have to lug wood to my room and then seeing the maid have to clean the fireplace...

The only thing I would suggest is that they have coffee and breakfast items available onsite. As it is, they have a main location up the hill about 5 blocks. So room service must come from there. That means it takes longer and is more difficult to keep hot.

Room Tip: I really liked my room #204 and know that #104 below is also wonderful. Views of the Parque, but I c...

We stayed at Casa Sierra Nevada in November 2012 for a couple of weeks. We absolutely loved it. Our room was stunning, comfortable and clean. The staff were above and beyond in terms of good service. The restaurant is gorgeous and very unique. Dinner there is a gastronomic delight. The location is great and the building and architecture just beautiful. One of the best things was the open fire we were able to enjoy in our room.

We had one or two issues, which did not in any way affect our enjoyment but hopefully the owners will read this and can work towards making the stay for guests even better.

No coffee machine in room? C'mon folks - that's an essential. We could have ordered room service for coffee but we were on holiday, so it turned out to be just as easy to go down and pay for our coffee from the restaurant every morning.

Breakfast - sorry folks, but you have some stiff competition with Cumpanio right down the road. Your breakfast didn't compare in price or quality.

Your information booklets - Your telephone international codes still include one for Yugoslavia. That's about a decade out of date.

Hidden service charges - We recommend you double check on these when booking. We have to say that when we questioned some of the service charges, they were removed without question, which is another testament to the excellent customer service at the hotel. We strongly recommend you tip in cash.

My husband and I stayed there for two nights and we loved it. It is divided into a few "houses," so you have to walk to get from the front desk to your house. Or, they also have like golf carts that cant take you to your room. Ours was across the street from the main building. The staff was very professional and attentive. Ricardo, and everyone, was attentive and helpful. Our original room was facing the street, and since I am a light sleeper, we moved to another room, which was just as nice, clean, and cozy.
The location couldn't be better. It is located a few blocks away from everything.
We had breakfast there one morning and it was good.
For our first trip to San Miguel, this was the best place we could have stayed in, and we would stay here again for sure.

Check in was at a comfortable desk seated in chairs. The concierge Marisol Ruiz Luna walked us to our room and gave us a quick tour. The hotel is a combination of old mansions in the historic part of San Miguel ,two blocks from the center of town. We requested to be met at the Leon Airport with a driver who was waiting for us upon arrival. The 1.5 hour drive was supplemented with cold bottled water and a large late model sedan. Our suite was over the top beautiful with a roof top terrace over looking the church which is lit up and dramatic at night. The pictures don't do justice to the large bathroom and copper tub.Fresh flowers were always intwined in our towels at the evening turndown .
The location couldn't be more perfect for hopping out the door and walking around the historic part of San Miguel.
Marisol recommended a fabulous cooking class with the hotel chef which included a market tour to purchase the food we cooked. After cooking you eat your meal along with a cold beer and the recipe's are printed out for you to take home.
If your looking for a true luxury cultural experience this is the right place to stay. On the other hand,if you are wanting to be around other stuffy Norte Americanos head over to the Rosewood.

I had the pleasure to stay in the hotel for a company meeting. Fantastic and very charming place with outstanding friendly people. Good food, nice amanities, Beautiful room with fireplace and little private tearrace as well with fireplace. The only thing missing is a gym which I think that should be included in the price.
