We had always heard about SMA. So we finally decided to make the journey. One of the best travel decisions we have made and to be fortunate enough to stay at this hotel was just a huge bonus. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. Gustavo (aka Our Butler ) made us feel as though we were at home. The best margaritas in SMA are prepared by Jose Luis Estrada in the cozy bar. His own creation of a Tamarind margarita should be featured in a travel brochure promoting this property. Jose and all of the folks in the restaurant did a great job. Somehow they know just the right amount of attention to devote to each guest without being overly attentive. Our room was perfect with a great view of the churches in the plaza. The location is great and you can walk anywhere in town. The walking tour and the cooking school are must do items. This trip to this charming Mexican town was well worth it and to stay at the Casa de Sierra Nevada Hotel only enhanced the experience. Great Place! Great Visit! Great Hotel! Muchas Gracias para todo la Hospitalidad! Mike and Cindy D.

Room Tip: If you are going to just SMA fly into Leon/Guanajuato airport. (from USA)

This hotel is definitely NOT inexpensive- especially when you consider some of the inconveniences we experienced (such as our room being given away the first night and having to play musical rooms, and the room we ended up in for about $450-$500 per night was WITHOUT HOT WATER IN THE SHOWER!) So why would I give this place five stars? THE PEOPLE! THE BEAUTY! THE LOCATION! AND... DID I SAY THE PEOPLE? In particular, a beautiful man who calls himself "the butler" but who's real name is Gustavo was the quintessence of our time there- he was kind, generous, went above and beyond the call of duty to meet our needs without ever being invasive- and even gifted everyone in our group with tokens of Mexico that were specific to our own interests and personalities on our last day. In three short nights he had taken the time and care to really get to know each one of us and give us a personalized momento! You can tell that this hotel is his home, and as guests we were made to feel like family not customers. The rooms are spectacularly beautiful- and some of them like our second space (L'Atelier, or Casa Principal 355) have spectacular views of the city- the short walk to the city center is sublime- the surrounding shops and neighborhood are a real delight. This place is a MUST to visit- just make sure you ask for Gustavo! And I definitely recommend the walking tour too- exquisite!

Room Tip: Casa Principal #355 or L'Atelier has its own deck overlooking the Cathedral and gorgeous trees...

The service was great and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our room was spacious and the way the bathroom was separated gave privacy. We loved having a courtyard with a fountain. It extends the room and with the great weather you can probably use it year round. I wish it had been just a bit cooler so we could have used our romantic fireplace. The Nespresso coffee machine is a nice touch and well stocked.

You can't beat Orient Express. My family and i just spent 3 nights here and it was absolutely spectacular. We had 2 rooms or should I say suites, which were big and very comfortable. Traveling with four children is not always easy when it comes to accommodations but the hotel set up the kids room perfect. Breakfast was delicious and we made a point to meet each morning and enjoy their wide selection of traditional dishes. The pool area is quiet and relaxing and we all decided to spend a few hours catching a few rays. Over all we give this hotel a ten out ten and have no problems recommending Casa de Sierra Nevada.

My wife and I stayed at Casa Sierra Nevada in San Miguel de Allende while attending the wedding of a good friend. The staff was very attentive and eager to grant any request. We had the good fortune of visiting during festival, which was very exciting and provided us an opportunity to see the city decorated and in a flurry of activity.

The wedding ceremony was on the grounds of the hotel in the gardens surrounding the swimming pool. An elegant, romantic, and private setting.

The 4 AM fireworks were a bit loud, but the hotel staff had properly warned us about the potential noise and even provided ear plugs in our room.

We highly recommend Case de Sierra Nevada.

Casa Sierra Nevada occupies several colonial houses, actually 4, Three that are almost across each other and one that is several blocks away.
Each room is different from the other, some are better than others. Many are considered suites, and all are nicely furnished and decorated in a luxurious colonial traditional style and with many works of art. Many rooms tend to be somewhat dark and the bathrooms due to the colonial tile somewhat cold. But nonetheless it is definitely a luxurious property. Service is immpecable. The restaurant serves breakfast a la carte with a somewhat limited selection, but all items are well prepared. Luncheon and dinner are excellent. Rooms have a type of butler service that takes care of you, and will deliver fresh cofee in the morning to your room. Wonderful touch and we had a most attentive gentleman taking care of us, Gustavo, he is warm and takes his job very seriously. An asset to the hotel.
The pool is located in the largest house along with a beautiful garden and rooftop terrace, Location of hotel is fantastic, The staff will go out of their way to look after you,
An excellent choice in San Miguel.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the three houses that are close to each other in Hospicio street.
