So many places to try in SMA but this one was disappointing. Tasteless salad. I had Mex and husband had Fran. Neither inspiring. Nice atmosphere but don't think we'll be back with so many other choices here.

Beautiful location on Zacateros, interior very traditional, lots of greenery and swaying palm trees overhead (which kept dropping seed pods on heads and in soup). Meal was average at best, service was OK and the owner couldn't have been nicer.

Two of us dined at Mexifran on a Sunday night and there were several other tables occupied throughout the restaurant, which is spacious and has both enclosed and outdoor seating areas, plus tables in the bar area. We sat by the fireplace and enjoyed the warmth and scent of the real wood fire. We chose the bean soup and tomato basil soup to start--both delicious, especially the spicy bean with chipotle! Then we split a generous green salad with goat cheese, dried cranberries and candied almonds. For our main courses we chose beef bourguignon and a mole glazed filet mignon, both perfectly done to order and very tasty. We also shared a bottle of Mexican petit syrah. Full but celebrating a birthday, we got one dessert to share and two coffees. Total tab $850 pesos (about $66 USD) plus tip. Service was very (perhaps too) attentive and we wanted for nothing. A very enjoyable evening, and we'll go back!
