Casa Mision de San Miguel

My husband and I used to travel all around the world, usually staying in boutiques hotels. But Casa Mision de San Miguel was a total schock. In our first day, while we were having our breakfeast in the cafeteria hotel a employee with the key entered in our room and took some money from us. When we clamied to talk with the manager she said was sorry and would reimburse us. But in the end of the trip she said she wasn't anymore because she talked with her staff and came to the conclusion we were liars. Besides having our money stolled we had to listen that we were liars. I never experincied and neither heard about such awful situation. The manager wasn't experienced enough to take the situation in more correct and polite way. Very sorry to have to had this absurd situation.

My partner and I were going to San Miguel for both business and pleasure and had a hard time choosing our hotel. A friend, who used to live in San Miguel recommended Casa Mission. She has loads of style and sense of quality, so we went for it.

I hardly ever give a hotel five stars, but......Wow, was she right, and then some!!! This small intimate hotel is built like an old Hacienda - hidden behind great big walls and beautiful old doors - with balconies, roof gardens, patios and court yards. Charming, charming rooms, lovely Mexican tiled bathrooms, great water pressure and loads of hot water... (Which can be an issue in Mexico). All decorated with great taste in rustic Mexican style, just beautiful! Loads of sitting rooms, great location right in the center of everything, quiet at night, fantastic fresh and delicious gourmet breakfasts included. Heaven.
We had business associates coming from Mexico City to stay as well, so it was important that the hotel was up to par. And they absolutely loved it!

The owners are a couple, American/Mexican and they live next door......and are honestly the best hosts I have ever come across in all my years of massive traveling. Helpful, fun, personable, entertaining, kind and they bent over backwards to be of service. The rest of the people who work there are always smiling, courteous and efficient.

WHAT a treat! One of my all time favorite stays. We will be back for sure!

Having considered the many options in the area we selected the Casa Mision based upon the reviews and scores on Trip Advisor and as the title suggests our expectations were actually exceeded. Don't be fooled by the facade when you first arrive; once through the front gate you enter a haven of peace and tranquility. The bedrooms are fabulous with huge double beds and lovely bathrooms. The public areas are as pleasant and there is a fantastic sun terrace for relaxing and enjoying the rays. The hosts, Tere and Ethan, are most charming and made our party of 10 all very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with a smile. We were attending a family wedding in the area which gave us the opportunity to visit other hotels and none were as nice as the Casa Mision. One word of caution when visiting San Miguel and (as we did) Mexico City; remember that you will be at c 7000 feet which could and did result in altitude sickness for one of our party. The symptoms are very unpleasant and debilitating. Tere was a huge support at a very difficult time and we were so grateful for her assistance. All in all a really wonderful stay and our thanks to Ethan and in particularly Tere for making it so.

Room Tip: We had the whole place for our party and can recommend all the rooms...

Book a room at the Casa Mision de San Miguel with confidence. We looked at all possibilities and are so glad we chose this one! Beautifully appointed guest rooms, lots of common areas for lounging, both indoors, in the courtyard, and on the roof. I felt secure because the front door is locked 24 hours a day (guests are issued a key) and strangers can't go wandering around the property. In addition, the street is pedestrian-only, adding to the possibility of quiet. It is far enough from the plethora of ringing church bells to still hear them, yet not be disturbed. Tere is a gracious host, a kind person, and an exquisite hotelier who epitomizes customer service. She made us feel like we were the only guests there, and the goal of the staff seemed to be our complete satisfaction. They were glad to help us with activities and dinner suggestions.

Room Tip: Look for nine more rooms to be added in the future. All of the rooms I saw looked equally lovely...

We had 2 rooms at Casa Mision for two weeks. Tere and Ethan were the perfect hosts, we couldn't have felt more at home. The rooms are large, the beds are just right, and the decor makes one think they have stepped back into the 17th century. The staff is friendly and attentive. The Mexican breakfasts were large and tasty. I would go back in a second.

Room Tip: San Miguel can be very noisy but I never heard a sound in our room in Casa Mision.

Our recent visit to San Miguel de Allende was enchanting. Staying at Casa Mision was the icing on the cake. Tere and Ethan, the owners make you feel at home from the minute you arrive. We never felt like guests but like family. The B&B is in a more quiet part of the city and sleeping in on the firm beds, (we stayed in #4 with two beds) was heavenly as was breakfast which is served until 11, later than most. Tere's restaurant recommendations were spot on and much appreciated.

I can't imagine staying anyplace else when we return.

I take a group of tango dancers regularly to dance in different exotic locations. The Mision was so great helping me organize locations, use their extra space, organize a cocktail party, make other special arrangements. The staff was fabulous, rooms incredibly nurturing and peaceful, location was perfect as there is no street noise.
I had a friend arrive in the middle of the night, and there was no room for her at the inn. This biblical emergency was handled by a member of staff who settled her in on the living room sofa, with pillows and blanket, and made her tea and cookies.
Where, I ask you, do you get that kind of service??
