“Awesome hotel”
Reviewed 7 April 2010

This was our second time visiting the Oasis. I think the thing I appreciate the most about Oasis is that even though it is a 300 year old building in a small town in a borderline 3rd world country the hotel owners do not expect you to compromise. While the experience feels authentic the finishes in the rooms are Restoration Hardware (no kidding, I checked the labels). We stayed in the Berber room and really enjoyed everything about it. The location of the hotel in perfect. The breakfast each morning was tastey. The staff is perfect. The owners are present and helpfull.

We've been to San Miguel before, will go back again and I can't imagine staying anywhere else.

When you step into the stylish hotel, you can see immediately that every detail matters to them. We very soon discovered that nothing matters more than the well-being of their guests. Everyone is made to feel that they are important. We stayed 9 nights. From the moment we arrived until the morning we left, everything was perfect and the staff couldn't have been more helpful or congenial. It's a great location, close to the main square and dozens of excellent restaurants but once you enter you do indeed feel that you are in an Oasis of tranquility. We enjoyed the roof top garden where you can have a drink and watch the sun set over the city. We also appreciated the free phone to the States, the WiFi, and the computer for the use of guests. Wonderful breakfasts.

We stayed at The Oasis for two months and enjoyed every day. The staff and owners were most welcoming and attentive. There never was a request that was not responded to immediately and with reassurance that it would be met positively. The chef was the best imaginable and did many favors for us and volunteered even more. The rest of the staff were equally generous. We can recommend this hotel unequivocally to everyone who wishes to enjoy San Miguel.

Our first trip to SMA and it will definitely not be our last. We LOVED our stay (4 nights) at Oasis. A beautifully decorated property all rooms and spaces very tastefully decorated. We especially loved hanging out on the rooftop terrace for a late afternoon drink! The courtyard is also a nice place to read a book. The staff was simply amazing. They can’t be any nicer or more helpful. Frankly, the best service we’ve ever had (including Four Seasons, The Peninsula) because they seem to really care about whether you are having an enjoyable visit. We also spent some time with the owners (American) and they made us feel special and important. The breakfast every day was to die for! Who knew Chicken Mole would be a good breakfast food! My only comment on the negative side would be, as others state, how dark our room was. Given that we didn’t spend that much time in it, a minor problem. I would definitely go back.

we had hoped this would a somewhat elegant, spacious, airly and light filled hotel. Instead three of the four rooms are so dark that you don't see daylight in them. the fourth room, a spacious suite is beautiful, but the other rooms are not worth the high price tag. We saw many other hotels and B&Bs that were more spacious for much less money. The staff was wonderful, helpful, and the breakfasts were made to order and delicious, but I think the Oasis sells itself as more than it is. Roof garden is very nice, but does not make up for the very dark rooms. I specifically asked if they had rooms overlooking gardens or patios, and I was assured that I would like this one.Not worth $350/night

The statement that no daylight penetrates our rooms has to be addressed. This statement is simply not true. While I am saddened that a guest was not 100% happy I can not ignore a statement that depicts the hotel so inaccurately. We hope our readers will read our other reviews and see that light in the rooms has not been a problem for our other guests.

Great location! Great service! It was quiet and comfortable. Had more of a bed and breakfast feel. Loved the rooftop terrace. We requested a massage and they had someone there within the hour and were top notch. They even coordinated a pizza party for us and other friends not staying at The Oasis. Can't say enough about the service provided by Martine and Juan, as well as everyone else. Would not hesitate to go back and stay or recommend to any one.

We have been to San Miguel Allende many times , we have now found the place we can call our special spot . This small boutique four room , full service hotel is the most peaceful place in this lovely colonial city . The help can not do enough for its guests , and its always with a smile . Nancy Hooper has transformed this hacienda into a work of art . You will not want to leave ! The accomodations are warm wonderful and magnificently decorated. You are served a bountiful breakfast to start your day . We will be back soon . Ellioit and Kathy Siegel New York
