Everyone wants different things in a rental home. This property, which is the seventh I have rented in San Miguel de Allende, turned out to be my favorite. And that is NOT because it was the fanciest or had the most amenities. What it has are floor to ceiling windows that allow the beautiful natural light to pervade the house. This is actually a rarity in San Miguel, where houses are built right next to each other and the lower floors are often dark.
In addition, this house sits on very large piece of land on top of a hill. You look down at a large garden at least 200 feet in length. The rooftop deck, reached by going outside and up a set of stairs, is very large and has a panoramic view of all of San Miguel. Our master bedroom also had this panoramic view, so on waking every morning and opening the curtains, we often saw the famous San Miguel hot air balloons floating before us in a cerulean sky.
The property is extremely secure, locked behind two sets of gates. Marisol and Gabriel, the caretakers, live in a unit by the front gate. They add to the security, and also provided us with anything we needed from water to garbage removal. Marisol also cleaned our house from to to bottom twice a week.
I found everything to be very comfortable. The kitchen has sufficient dishes, pans, etc. for a vacation stay. I did miss a regular oven, but the toaster oven was sufficient for cooking chicken and smaller meats.
My experience was delightful and we would rent there again.
San Miguel de Allende is a term down with lots to do. We stayed a lovely three bedroom, 3 story three-story condominium. Has a great view and lots of room. It is a seven block walk up cobbled streets to the town center.
The neighborhood dogs and roosters can be a little disruptive to sleeping. Bring a pair of your plugs with you.
