Just back from another stay at Maison l'Allee, it's the 3rd time my partner and I have stayed in as many years and I thought it's about time I wrote a review!
The house is lovely, spacious and airy. We've only been there as a 2 but the house sleeps 6 and there's plenty of room for that number. The kitchen is really well equipped with everything you'd have at home. The living room is very comfortable and also has English TV. The main bathroom has a bath and separate shower which is definitely a plus and a luxury for me having only a shower at home . This time the weather was very hot so we spent hours by the pool looking out over the beautiful far reaching views and reading books. There's a lot to do in the locale and Beverley the host/owner had left us information on what was going on in the area. This trip we saw the cyclists finishing the limoges stage of the Tour de France, we went to a music festival in Cognac and visited the large weekly market at Piegut-Pluviers. Previous trips we've been to local music festivals, visited oradour sur glane (village that's been left exactly as it was after it's invasion by nazi troops, very moving) and gone on a day trip to la Rochelle. There are lakes nearby for water sports and lots of walk/cycle tracks.
Maison l'Allee is in the countryside so it's a good idea to hire a car so you can explore.
Beverley has a lovely dog nippy (little jack Russell) who is kept away from the main house but he's very friendly and we were happy for him to come and sit with us so he did this time.
I love this place it's really relaxing and each time we find new areas and things to do. I would definitely recommend it and look forward to our next stay!
