We planned to celebrate having crossed the Simpson from Birdsville. Planned on sitting back in the Bar and enjoying a few ales. The reception provided by the owner and his partner was less than enthusiastic. The meals were nice but you had to pre order and make sure you were back in the Bar by 6.30....which we did. Meals didn't arrive until 7.30 so not sure why you had to be there so early. There were signs everywhere telling you what "NOT" to do. Their loss really, we ended up having our own cold ales instead of investing in their bar. There was a gentleman working there with a long grey beard, he was most helpful in getting information about road conditions and made us feel welcome, couldn't say the same for the owners. I wouldn't bother going out of our way to Mount Dare when we next travel up that way.
