We didn't stay at Klein Pella but went to buy dates. What an experience. We were welcomed and told how the dates are grown. We drove around the farm and saw the 16000 male date palms on top of the hill. As we travelled over the hill we saw the thousands of female date palms in the valley together with vineyards. Date palms don't like humidity. We bought a box of delicious dates. They say you learn every day. That was a day to remember. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

The best first: there is a stunning pool one can actually swim in. The rooms are large and front of house is very helpful. The setting is absolutely amazing. We found it odd that some of the staff sat in front of the TV most of the time, just waving at us guests from their comfortable couch.
We opted for dinner, bed and breakfast, which didn't really work. We got provided some braai food to braai for ourselves. Fish (never a good idea so far inland), vegetarian sausage (unfortunately covered in an unidentifyable sauce) and stunning toasted sandwiches. The concept of getting dinner offered and then having to cook it ourselves doesn't do it for me. There were three salads provided, two of which consisted mainly of mayonnaise. One could have enjoyed a meal under stunning stars on the huge balcony except the staff insisted on turning the most horrific fluorescent light on, although we turned it off. Eventually I gave up and ate on the balcony of our room. The staff left and if it wouldn't have been for my partner the salads would have been standing outside all night. Strange.

Little bit off the tar road but worth the trip. This is truly an Oasis in what is a very dry and thirsty land. What a welcome sight to see all the date plantations and vineyards in the middle of the desert.. Very friendly and welcoming staff. What impressed me is that the owners were very happy for you to drive around their farm and go a relax by the Orange river. Truly a beautiful part of South Africa
