Prior to our whale watching trip with Capt. Mark's we visited the Whale Interpretive Centre and were pleasantly surprised by the amount of information on cetaceans. The 9 min. video we watched of the history of whaling really shed a light on the how and why these creatures are almost extinct. The gift shop was very reasonably priced with quality souvenirs.

It offers extensive information on whales, especially for those of us who are completely new to the world of sea creatures

We spent a couple of days in Pleasant Bay in August 2012 and were looking forward to whale-watching. However, the weather was not up for it so we visited the Whale Interpretive Centre instead. I was pleasantly surprised by how much information was packed in this modest space :)

I was especially moved by the life-size pilot whale replica and the short film they showed on the human-whale relationship which moved me to tears (we have been so awful to these and other non-human Earthizens). I enjoyed listening to the beautiful sounds of the various Cetacean - which I did repeatedly!

The premises are very well-maintained and a stop at the gift shop is a must!

See you again this August :)

After a whale tour at captain marks we stopped here for a restroom break and ended up walking around. they have a lovely gift shop with plush sea and land animals for the kiddie in your life. I recommend the baby seal plushie. Its soft and cuddly. Also grab the salt water taffy for the drive back to the hotel. Yum
