I traveled to the Montecristo Estates in January 2010. I was with my wife and 2 other couples. We had an amazing time while we were there. The villas were very spacious and offered incredible views. We had a 3 bedroom villa.

We were in villa 2 at the very top of the development. While it took a few minutes longer to get to the villa, it was well worth it. The first time we walked out onto the terrace, we were blown away by the view. There is a hot tub on the upper terrace and the pool was on the lower terrace. It was a heated pool, so the early mornings and late nights were fine for taking a dip in the pool. Or spending the day hanging out with a few drinks.

The service was always excellent. The concierge made a point to stop by each day to check on our needs. The cleaning staff was great as well. I have never seen someone so thoroughly clean on a daily basis at a resort.

We took advantage of having the full kitchen in our villa. We shopped for groceries in town. I probably cooked half of the time because I enjoy it. We all went on the presentation so we had enough money to spend at the resort to cover the rest of our meals at Sunset Beach.

The shuttle was always on time. It is a bit of a pain to use it for every time you need to go down to Sunset, but the experience in the villas is well worth it.

Each bedroom has it's own bathroom. The master suite has a large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, and walk in closet. The other two were very nice as well. There are two living room areas in the villa, one on each floor. It gave plenty of space for anyone who wanted to find a place to hang out privately.

I can't say enough about the views! It was awesome. We had a great view of the sunset each night. We also got nearly a full view of the sunrise. You can't get that in many places.

We did not spend too much time at Sunset Beach. It was nice as well. The resort is built into the hillside and that creates some pretty steep paths. They have golf carts to shuttle people around. They are pretty efficient at it too. We did not find much reason to leave our villa to check out the pools at Sunset, but they were pretty nice as well. I just loved the privacy of our own pool, so we made sure to enjoy our time there.

We used the Registry Collection to exchange into this property so we got it for very cheap. We plan on going back. I am hooked! Check it out if you can. We keep an eye on availability to book the last minute trips and save our credits. There is always something available. It is so tempting to pick up and go. But with two little ones at home, my wife and I have to resist!

Exchanged Grand Mayan weeks for a week at Montecristo Estates, which is part of the Pueblo Bonito family of hotels. Who wouldn't love having a private infinity pool, hot tub/spa, gas grill, 3 bedrooms, full kitchen, dining room, living room, family room, laundry, computer, daily maid service at your disposal? Definitely a return trip is in order.

The only negative aspect is that it's not convenient to get to anywhere except by car. And here we had an awesome driver - Adrian Gomez - owner of cielito lindo, who provided airport/hotel transport, shuttles between Montecristo and Hacienda del Mar (where some of our group was staying), city tour, and handled other transportation needs. Adrian even assisted one of our group who needed some medication, by contacting a pharmacy and delivering it to us. We'd highly recommend him if transportation and concierge services are needed.

Our villa had an awesome view of the Pacific Ocean and we enjoyed breakfast al fresco on the upper deck (lower deck would've worked too) watching boats and cruise ships pass by. We came here to relax and this was a perfect spot to do so. With a TV in every bedroom, plus the living/dining room and family room, everyone could watch something different when you weren't on the computer catching up with email or Facebook.

The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to cook many meals and even grill chicken and beef on the deck. Surprisingly, the kitchen was equipped with bakeware as well.

The staff was very responsive when needed, otherwise we never encountered anyone. Though we knew we had neighbors in the villas next door, we could barely tell - every villa is private.

There was a shuttle service between the Montecristo Estates and the PB Sunset Beach resort where we had access to all of the amenities and restaurants. You could also take the shuttle from the Sunset Beach to the sister resorts in town (complimentary).

The bathrooms in the two master bedrooms were decadent. The fountain in the courtyard was just the icing. Can't wait to go back!

The villas themselves are huge -- allegedly they sleep 10, but that's pushing it. Gorgeous kitchen, though not well equipped. There is a free shuttle to the Pueblo Bonita resort in town, but you will probably want your own wheels, since the resort is isolated -- and if you want to cook, you will want to go to Wal-Mart for the best groceries.

Biggest problem is that you need to take a shuttle bus from Montecristo villas to the main part of the resort -- Sunset Beach, which is regular time shares -- and then another bus to the spa part of the resort, and so you can lose a lot of time commuting to the pools and restaurants. Spa restaurant overpriced; Sunset Beach brunch worth every penny

I viewed these lovely Villas in January 2009, so decided to return and bring my family in April for Spring Break. Really enjoyed the views of the Pacific from any room in these lovely villas. Looking forward to our vacation in April 2009
