“Funky, Charming and Authentic”
Reviewed 3 February 2009

I stayed at Siesta Suites about a year ago for 4 nights and was absolutely charmed by it. It has fun and funky decorations and has an atmosphere that is very down to earth and unpretentious.

The owner of the place is very friendly and welcoming and we really appreciated his special guide to Cabo. It listed restaurants off the beaten path for great prices and other locations that were void of the typical tourist traps.

We found that our room was very clean and spacious, one bedroom, bathroom, a couch area and a kitchen with dining area. It completely served our purposes in that we were looking for some place cheap that was safe, clean and away from all the big resorts. Yes the beds are hard but thats Mexico people!

We never ate at the resturaunt but it always smelled soooo good and there were people there every evening. The noise may keep others up at night but as long as you go to bed after 10 it really wouldn't be a problem. I highly recommend you try the Crazy Lobster just up the street, crazy cheap prices for authentic mexican seafood.

As for location there are some major pluses and minuses. We loved that it was off the beaten path, near tons and tons of restaurants and very close to the marina. However if you want to hang out at the main beach most of your time you will find that the walk will grow very tiresome after walking it every day sometimes more than once. Took us about 25+ min each way and we are fit people. Since there was no "real" pool it was a big downside that it took so long to get to the main beach area.

If you are looking for a hotel that has just the basics but lots of charm, Siesta Suites is a wonderful place to stay. We loved that it was off the beaten path, and something different than going to a mega resort.

I reserved one night at the Siesta Suites due to an airline scheduling issue. My experience was less enjoyable than those experiences of most reviewers here.

Issues:
1) Despite booking my reservation online weeks in advance the receptionist could not find my reservation. Fortunately, I brought the confirmation page from hotels.com which resolved the issue.
2) The bed and couch had extremely hard mattresses. The comforter (on the bed) also had several holes in it.

For those looking for a place to stay (particularly if your primary purpose is fishing) in Cabo the location is great and the staff is friendly. However, for reasons I cannot explain, I did not feel comfortable staying at this hotel and I will probably not do so again.

If you do stay here I suggest you try Salvatore's. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food is superb and the portions are huge.

Just wanted to drop a line to say how much I enjoyed staying at this hotel. My friend and I found the rooms to be clean, comfortable, and an exceptional value. The staff was very helpful and courteous, and the location was perfect for access to the marina and all the excellent restaurants in the area. When we come back, we will definitely stay there again!

The hotel is in a good downtown location, one block from the marina and several from Cabo Wabo, etc. The reception was friendly and helpful, and the room was clean, the bed comfortable. However, the hotel leases premises to an Italian restaurant, which has tables surrounding the hotel pool (which is very small). So people that are dressed casual smart are sitting at tables that rim the edge of the pool, and nobody used the pool. Also, we paid for dinner in US dollars, and the restaurant owner's son refused to give us the going exchange rate, so we ended up paying 35% more for dinner -- a total surprise when we received our change!

The staff greeted us with warmth and helpful tips. The room was clean and comfortable. There was a nice view off the balcony. Excellent location for a hotel off the beach.

In general, this is a great hotel for friends traveling through Baja. However, I dont think that I would recommend it for a romantic getaway.

We spent 14 nights in this great inexpensive Hotel in Cabo San Lucas. This is the fourth time for us at the Siesta Suites, and it never fails to impress us. If you're looking for fancy beachfront property and timeshare vendors, this is NOT the place for you; If you want a great quiet place with a Bed and Breakfast feel to it, look at spending a few nights at Siesta Suites. From your room you can smell the local restaurants, which are away from Cabo's tourist traps and expensive places to eat. Alex is full of great suggestions on where to eat and activities to do; and Nancy is truly a gem, she was wonderful to talk with and helped us with everything we needed. As for the hard working staff they were always there to assist within their power, and our room was refreshed everyday. We were traveling with an infant and we had questions before we arrived and e-mailed Nancy and she responded with all the information we needed.
The Crazy Lobster at the corner is the place to eat! Tip the staff and be friendly with them and they can make you have an enjoyable time . Their breakfasts and fish fillet are to die for.
Thank you again and see you next time! And just so you know my father said it was the most relaxing vacation he had ever had.

We spent 9 relaxing and fun filled days in Cabo at the Siesta Suites hotel in the heart of the action. Just a few steps from the marina, Cabo Wabo, and downtown. We felt like family from the minute we arrived. Alex the owner was ever helpful and so kind. His staff was wonderful and so helpful when we needed some advice on local information.

We noticed that the beds were hard when we arrived. We had read so many reviews and they were right. However, Alex used us as a guinea pig and installed a new micro foam matress topper and it made the difference.. We were sooooo happy and glad. Now I must say all the rooms have these wonderful softeners. You will sleep like a baby.

One of the best members of the hotel staff is a loving four legged cat. Big Momma (as she is named) will be glad to venture into your room and show you various ammenities. She isn't pushy or rude. But is glad to come inside out of the weather to get a pet.

The restuarant attached is absolutely the best in Cabo. Itallian is not what you expect when you travel to Mexico but it is what you will want.. The help at Salvatores is more than helpful and very accomodating. The food is delightful. Monday and wednesday and friday nights are special. Be sure to go. Take a big appetite and get a doggie bag.

The pool isn't all that but you can lounge around it and sit in the cool water on a hot afternoon. If the staff of the cafe is there you can have a cool drink and sit in the pool as you listen to the music.. Delightful.

  • Liked — Willingness of staff to assist each guest.
  • Disliked — Neighborhood. however we never felt uncomfortable.
