This is a lovely resort in a breathtaking location. You couldn't ask for friendlier or more helpful staff people (thank you, Edgar, Jazzie, Manny, Billy, and Rafa, and everyone else!). The units are beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Good food at the restaurant (the Mexican fiesta on Friday nights, with all you can eat buffet and open bar, along with some lively folklorico dancers, is well worth the time). Gorgeous pool overlooking Los Arcos. This is our second stay here, and now we know how the local bus system works. It's a little bit of a walk from the resort to the highway, but the $1.00 cost for the bus beats the $12.00 one-way taxi fare to Cabo San Lucas. If you don't have a lot of stuff to carry and can manage the walk, take the bus. Sirena del Mar is a really beautiful, relaxing place to stay.

Room Tip: If you can manage the rate for a penthouse (we used our timeshare points), that's the way to go...

This property is in a remote location so be prepared to pay for a taxi if you want to go anywhere. Taxi to the Cabo marina is $15. We went to Kmart, taxi was about $10, and bought groceries. Kmart has everything, Big deli, bakery, fresh fruit, butcher shop.
The food at the resort was OK. Taco Tuesday was very good, Fish tacos were my favorite. They have happy hour every day and a dinner special daily. They plan on expanding the restaurant later. Right now it is outside dining only. The resort has outside grills you can use to grill your own food if you wish
Our room was fabulous. We had reserved a large one bedroom suite but they upgraded us to the penthouse. We had two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, large fully equipped stainless steel kitchen, washer and dryer, dining area that seated 8 easily, plus a media room which could be a third bedroom, plus a big balcony.
Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Francisco, Manny and Alex were always so happy and Barbara and Jazzie greeted us with big smiles.
The pools are very beautiful and overlook the sea of Cortez. We saw whales every day. there is also a small sandy beach area with good snorkeling. Every morning at 10 Manny takes a group down to the beach.
This is the place to be if you want to relax and enjoy reading a good book.

Room Tip: I don't think there is a bad view

Our first week of our timeshare exchange (we own at Welk Escondido) was a wonderful treat! We enjoyed the smallness of the resort, as opposed to other places we visited. Location by a very lovely little cove was amazing...the fishes we saw while snorkeling were beautiful and abundant!
Many other properties have beaches, but are dangerous for swimming, much less snorkeling!

Room Tip: Buffet meals are quite expensive; we will go to the restaurant next door next time!

Just arrived in Cabo and disappointed to say the least. We picked Sirena Del Mar to enjoy the views and relaxation. We paid the upgrade just for this purpose. What we got is a room that the balcony has a view of nothing but the people laying out by the pool. I guess the ocean is visible if we could see around the other guests. The construction noise is bad enough but when you book with a resort that states "Every suite has an ocean view" you expect to see the ocean. I spoke with the front end manager to a polite there is nothing we will do. Needless to say our next trip back will NOT include this resort!

We stayed the second week of January and couldn't have asked for a better vacation. We were greeted professionally and they had our room ready. We proceeded immediately to dinner at Friday's Mexican Fiesta and the food was excellent. Previous reviewers mentioned the construction going on--we were in the building next to the construction and heard nothing. In short the pool was the perfect temperature with beautiful views. The beach was amazing--we snorkeled and saw limitless numbers of marine life. The rooms were huge and immaculate and the service throughout the restaurant was amazing. The restaurant had great food at a reasonable price. In short, THE PERFECT VACATION!

We stayed at The Welk Sirena Del Mar last month for five days to celebrate our first anniversary and had the most wonderful vacation!
First, we got a great deal on Hotels.com (and they participate in their Welcome Rewards program) which is always a great start!
This was our first time to Cabo. Have visited Playa, Cozumel, Tulum a few times and was very excited to visit the other side of Mexico! Getting there was also super easy! Since Southwest has now merged with Airtran, we were able to book our flights converting Rapid Rewards points and took an easy direct flight from Orange County. Upon arrival at The Welk we were so impressed with how gorgeous this property is! The reviews are all true! It is beautifully landscaped on a cliff and whoever designed it did a wonderful job of using each level to enhance the natural beauty of the sea and cliffs rising up to the pools and hotel. And the infinity pool! A-MAZ-ing!!
We stayed in a one bedroom condo, which had everything you could possibly need...even a blender! Fiesta dishes, wine glasses, every kind of cooking utensil, even a pitcher that we could make iced tea in (it;s the little things sometimes!) Our condo had a balcony overlooking the ocean and we enjoyed breakfast every morning out there feeling incredibly lucky.
The resort itself is so beautiful that you really could spend your whole time there, but my husband and I wanted to explore as this was our 1st visit. I had researched taking the local bus beforehand and it worked out perfect for us! Plus we did not have to rent a car! Each day we walked up the hill (which is not bad at all and great after those breakfasts on the balcony) to the highway. The buses come by often and it's super easy. There are local white buses that go into Cabo and then SuperCabos buses that run between San Jose and Cabo. We did both and on different days went to Lover's Beach, San Jose, Chileno Beach (great snorkeling and the hotel will provide a snorkel mask, although next time we will bring fins! No need to pay for a snorkeling trip! Just take the bus there!)
Each night after enjoying our adventures we came back and felt like we had the hotel to ourselves! Enjoyed the fire pit and huge jacuzzi each night under the stars! Plus one night we grilled a dorado fish that another guest had given us from their sport fishing trip on the public grills the Welk has by the pool and enjoyed a romantic dinner overlooking the cliffs and sea while watching the Geminids meteor shower! It was like a movie!
The private beach next to the Welk is also really nice with great snorkeling just down the stairs from the resort.
And Jorge and the rest of the the staff is absolutely awesome! So friendly and helpful! And we were never even asked about any kind of timeshare in our 5 days there.
As far as construction, hardly noticed it...we were in a front building and this was in the back. And yes our room did not have service, but we were able to easily ask for towels and paper towels, etc.
Tips:
There is a great little market that is very walkable (just up the hill across the highway and down about two blocks to the right) that has delicious guac and salsa plus lots of gourmet grocery items that are not too expensive.
There is also a cute restaurant that is walkable from The Welk that has $20 Lobster dinners, can't remember the name but just down a path from the road leading to The Welk.
If you are thinking about using the local bus, it is easy to get to the resort from the airport too. We didn't do this and arranged a shuttle but next time we will take the bus! (I love to save $$!)
But if you do want to shuttle try Fun Los Cabos which was only $30 per person round trip. They were great and you actually take a TransCabo shuttle, but on the TransCabo website they only do private shuttles to the Welk which are much more expensive.

Enjoy The Welk! It;s a dream vacation!

I will definitely go back there again.

Avoid the building close to the construction.

Staff memebers were all great.

It's a beautiful resort, quiet and has a nice beach which is protected from high waves.

The place itself is so nice that you can just stay there all day and relax.

You probably need a rental car if you are going to stay there. Yes you can do without, but it's so much easier with a car. The entrance to their drive way is not well marked.
