“Average, too much hype to live up to”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 November 2008

It was ok, nothing special. The rooms are clean, the pool was nice, and the staff was accommodating. However we found the much hyped breakfast below average. There was no menu, one staff person and we never could understand anything until it was dropped off at our table. The whole place was OK but from reading all the reviews we were expecting more. We liked El Nido on the same street much better.

Our family of 11 couldn't have been more pleased with the Bungalows.

Breakfast was second to none - it was delicious every single day.

The rooms are clean and comfortable.

Eric and his mother were great hosts and made us feel quite at home for the duration of the trip. They helped us with directions, rental car, taxis, and restaurant recommendations. (eat at La Fonda! It was delicious)

We never minded the 5 minute walk into town or the walk to the beach, because this place is far better than any of the all-inclusives you might see. No other large hotel chain could have treated us with such hospitality

We just returned from our week-long honeymoon in Cabo. For the first three nights we stayed at a mega-resort on the Pacific, hoping for some relaxation after our big day. We were wrong! It was high-pressure timeshare sales, overpriced drinks and crappy hotel food. We couldn't wait to leave.

After three days of being trapped in resort hell, we caught a cab to the Bungalows first thing in the morning. We were instantly greeted with warmth and hospitality. Right away our bags were taken and we were treated to a great breakfast. The coffee, fresh fruit and omelet was by far the best meal we had in Cabo so far, and the caring and kindness of the staff put us immediately at ease. Each day the breakfasts were fantastic and we looked forward to them.

We had reserved the Bungalow's honeymoon suite, which is accurately described in other reviews on this site. It is on the third floor in the back of the property with an ocean view off in the distance. The suite has a small private patio with chairs and water fountain. The room itself is moderately large with a kitchenette. There is a flat panel TV with DVD player, but no TV channels. Overall, the room is large, private, unique and relaxing.

The Bungalow grounds are immaculately maintained and peaceful. There is much wildlife around the property, including a group of geckos that would come visit us on the patio every night.

Since it was 90+ degrees each day, we would hit the pool to cool off between trips to town. Most of the time, we had the place to ourselves and rarely saw other guests use the pool. The water cool and refreshing, although we were told it is heated in the winter.

Downtown Cabo is a short 10 minute walk away. Also, multiple good restaurants, such as La Fonda, are even closer. The recommendations and assistance of the hotel staff cannot be overstated. For instance, we asked for a rental car. It was immediately arranged and delivered to the property on time the next day. What service!

The saying, "they treat you like family" applies to this great hotel and its operators. Staying here was just like having a friend in Cabo who happens to have 16 extra bedrooms. Thank you to Estella and her entire family and staff for making our honeymoon trip a special one.

What the others have said about Los Bungalows is true. We stayed here based on the TripAdvisor reviews and can only add our positive review to the pile. We stayed in an upstairs suite for a slight upcharge. We were greeted by Eric when we got out of the van with a "Welcome Home" and they mean it. My wife was absolutely thrilled with the accomodations, a small kitchen, a deck with a hammock, etc. It was the end of September ('08), so it was hot but the airconditioner in the room worked fine. The place is a short walk ( under 1/2 hr ) to most anywhere downtown or a $6 USD cab ride. We walked down and took cabs back as it was uphill and usually late when we did that. Erick and Junior were very helpful in arranging activities and their Mother Estelle is a very gracious hostess. Breakfasts were to die for and served from 8 - about 10 am. We were always there before 8 for coffee. The place is charming and carries old world charm well. Away from the night parties when you want. No alarm clock needed, the neighborhood rooster will let you know when to get up.

Well what to add here...

Like everyone says, this place is incredible. I wanted something totally off the beaten path and opposite of the traditional resort experience and this is it. Estella, Eric, and Junior are welcoming and accomodating and genuinely interested in your stay. Its truly like finding relatives you didnt know you had in Baja.

My girlfriend and I stayed 3 nights and were moved to a nicer room when the corner room we had on the second floor was found to be pretty noisy. Nicer is hard to quantify since our original base single room was nicer and cozier and more inviting than pretty much anywhere else I have stayed.

Breakfast is awesome as everyone says, although if you dont eat eggs or cheese like I don't you are stuck with fruit and toast.

To sum up this is an intimate jewel in what has become an increasingly bustling Cabo San Lucas. Believe the reviews but check it out for yourself.

Believe all the reviews because this place was beyond my expectations. Upon arriving you are greeted by Eric as if you are family. It is run by Eric, his mom Estella and brother Junior. They are all very nice people and are willing to help you in anyway. The breakfasts are the best and I made sure we were up every morning to eat breakfasts. The ladies who cook and clean and take care of surroundings are just awesome. The bungalows feels like your at a resort without the resort prices. Its also not a bad walk into town. Its about 10 to 15 minutes to town and about 15 to 20 to the marina. We did the walk everyday and never felt like we needed a taxi. I would definately stay here again
with my family. Great place, great breakfast, great surroundings and great people!!!!

Its been months since I went on vacation to Cabo and I still smile when I think about the last few days we spent at The Bungalows. In fact, I was doing a lot of smiling while I was there: when we walked in, the warm welcome and great humor made is feel happy to be there.

The rooms are beautifully decorated and designed so we felt like we had ample space: living room, kitchen and bedroom. The movie selection for in-room viewing was ample, the free toiletries were greatly appreciated and I loved having French press coffee in my room.

The pool is big and beautiful and I can only imagine how great the actual bungalow rooms are (we had a cozy suite). The breakfast was delicious...

Really, everything exceeded my expectations. I didn't like Cabo because it felt like a soul-less place but this hotel has enough charm to make up for the rest of the city's lack thereof.

  • Liked — The comfort and beauty of the rooms, the breakfasts, the staff, the pool
  • Disliked — A bit of a walk to downtown which can be tedious in the middle of a hot day
