This is one of the most beautiful resorts we stayed in. The interior in the lobby and common areas is well done. These areas are filled with Mexican fine art - either replicas or the real thing. The condos are terraced on a hill; the plus is every room has a gorgeous view of the ocean. The minus - you have to either walk up/down hill to get anywhere, or call for, wait and tip a golf cart driver. This took away from the ambiance as we felt we were handing out tips every time we turned around.
THE WIFI DIDN'T WORK MOST OF THE TIME WE TRIED TO USE IT!!!!!!! Very annoying!
Our studio room was comfortable, spacious and perfect for our needs. We had a balcony with a spectacular view of both the sunrise and the sunset! The bed was very comfortable, the kitchen adequate (though we could have used a few more dishes and storage containers but many 1 room time share trades don't have a kitchen at all.) The room had extra amenities - lights in the closet came on automatically each time the closet door was opened, plenty of drawers and shelves and even room in the closets for suitcases. We were given a room that was ADA compliant and although we didn't need it, it appeared to be more than well appointed with a shower chair, grab bars, very wide openings to the huge shower, etc.
We were told the water is reverse osmosis - we drank the tap water with no problems - it was delicious. We ate at two of their restaurants - both had excellent service and food. By far, dinner at La Frieda was outstanding if you're looking for an upscale dinner. Their attention to detail is wonderful - for starters, as they seated us, they whisked away the light napkin replacing it with a black one to be less obtrusive on my black skirt. This restaurant is named for and decorated with art work from their famous Mexican artist and they carried out their theme beautifully - the food was a delight to the eye, the artwork and decor lovely, there was even live piano music. And the bill was reasonable compared to other 5-star restaurants we've been to in the U.S. Make reservations early if you want the balcony - they seat guests who arrive in time to watch the sunset. Dinner is leisurely so plan the evening around it. Their other restaurant is also very well decorated with delicious food well served and prepared. (And, we saw whales from that restaurant balcony.) Food is served poolside and we did cook in our room as well.
A bit about Cabo San Lucas - this area is VERY Americanized - bars, restaurants, "T" shirt shops but, there's plenty to do at the resort. If you want to enjoy Mexico closer to the way it was, you'll have to drive up to Todos Santos or to Los Barilles (ask about the roads first, the western road was under construction when we went.) And, do it soon, this whole area may become like south Florida in the next few decades. At the airport, customs and immigration had very long lines. Next, we went to get our rental car and were told not to speak with anyone on our way out the door on the left. BE WARNED - the airport has given a huge room with a long counter to these time share sharks and they are pushy. One man told us we were not allowed to go through the left door because we were not residents. We had to see the people at the counter first. (We started for the left door but this man was adamant - saying "I am the airport manager and you are not allowed to go through that door." We did but it was an annoying welcome to a foreign country - we wondered just what was in store for us and were put off - hardly a welcoming impression to make.) On the bright side, time share sales appears to be huge part of their local economy and that is much better than the problems Americans are hearing about Mexico in the news. We felt very safe the entire trip (though we were hounded by a timeshare salespeople - - even in the grocery store!) If you really want to take a timeshare tour as part of your vacation, hold out for their 3rd or 4th response to your "No" and you'll get more money and more perks for your time, but don't believe it will only take 2 hours - set aside at least 4 hours. A good part of the beach in Cabo is beautiful but you aren't allowed to swim in some of it because (we were told) there's a very strong undertow and it drops off quickly.
Back to the Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Resort - We did take a nice walk along the beach, which seems to go on forever. The spa is gorgeous - I got a massage and Daisy was very good. It was pricier than I'm used to for a nice massage and the hot tub area smelled too much of chlorine - I couldn't go in. Also, learn to say your room number in Spanish otherwise they may misunderstand and send the golf cart to the wrong building or write your reservation incorrectly. Check in was very slow with long lines, check out a breeze. We traded through our time share, so can't speak for booking or directions.
