“Great Boutique Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2014

First of I will preface this review with the fact that this was my first time ever to Cabo San Lucas, but I am a well seasoned traveler who is use to the finer things in life. I am not someone one who will only stay at a Four Seasons-on the the contrary but I do know good service and what a 4 star hotel should be. Bahia overall was Great! The lobby, restaurant and pool are really fantastic. The rooms need updating but are great and unique in their own right. My husband enjoys authenticity when we vacation he does not want to have the same American food, and American experience as if we were in the States...Bahia offers that authenticity. I recommend tipping your cleaning lady she will make your room and stay that much better. We came home every night to different animals made out of the towels and the toilet paper folded in cool ways. The staff at the restaurant and pool are great and all speak English. The check-in staff leave a little to be desired...just blah...our guy who checked us in always seem frazzled and never had time. But really you dont ever deal with the check in people. The door men and security guys are awesome they will tell you about all the local places to go and whats fun and happening each night. Manuel the concierge is AWESOME AMAZING. He so so knowledgeable. He did everything from book my spa treatment, to get us into a great same day kayaking trip, to arranging a car where they brought it to us and picked it up and all we had to do was sign paperwork in the lobby. He made it so we had the most fun possible in 6 days. I recommend if you don't understand something talk to Manuel the concierge he will explain it. For instance, when we checked in, I had read all over the web that it was necessary to arrange for a taxi to pick you up at the airport and take you or you could end up paying 80 bucks..(I paid 30 total for two adults through Cape Travel).well the check in staff casually mentioned 48 hours before you leave come here and arrange for a ride to the airport. Well I don't know about you but when Im in vacation mode Im not thinking about my responsibilities of when I leave. They did not explain that because of government regulation if you don't arrange 48 hrs before you have no option other than to pay the 80 bucks...ummmm that was the only thing that really wasn't great. Manuel explained that its not the transportation companies its the Mexican government requires they submit a permit to pick people up and it take 48hrs to process and if they pick you up without the permit the government will shut them down. So in the end Bahia is a great boutique hotel. Please note it is NOT on the beach it is a short walk (1/2) a block to Medano beach, the beach that is where most things happen. There is no ocean view only pool view. Which is fine if you know that in advance but don't go hoping to listen to the waves crashing with your patio door open. If you want that or you want a "party pool" I recommend ME Cabo. The nice part about the location of both Bahia and ME is that they are a really easy walk into town. We did that most nights and it was really fun and nice not to require taking a cab. Enjoy your stay! Hope this helps! Oh one last thing...if you want an awesome experience and the weather is right...get a roll away bed and put it on your patio and sleep outside. It was truly the best sleep I have had in 10 years. Also, they don't advertise this but the Bahia does not have a spa...no big deal they have a contract with ME Cabo Spa...and you get a 20% discount and its an awesome spa. Its basically next door to the hotel. Lastly, if you are a Pizza (yes random but true) connoisseur as me and my husband are you must have the pizza down in the hotel restaurant...it competes with some of the finest I have had in Italy!

Room Tip: 2nd or 3rd floor facing the pool...the further from the elevator the better...its not noisy it will...

The service staff was amazing, especially Matias. The restaurant is overpriced, a simple breakfast for 2 will run you $50. The location is great, right by the beach and 10 min walk to downtown. Go and check out other restaurants near by, they are all great and much cheaper. Rooms are great, but the beds and pillows are not very comfortable.

I recently stayed at the Bahia and it was wonderful location the staff were very accommodating. There was a particular concierge attendant named Matias who made suee anything we needed was taken care of. We were two minutes from the beach near all the finest restaurants and within walking distance of the downtown area for shopping and sightseeing. One of tne older hotels but the customer service compensated. It is very expensive to eat in cabo but the restaurant is excellent and well worth it. Definitely plan to go back and a special thanks to Matias :-))

Room Tip: Deluxe single or double

After a long day travelling we arrived at Bahia to be greeted by a very friendly team of staff. Our experience from the moment we arrived to the moment we left was relaxed, friendly and very pleasant. Rooms are clean, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the pool is great & the restaurant is the best in the area!

It is one of those places you could stay and actually never leave the resort! I highly recommend the restaurant- great atmosphere, the food is superb, well-priced and they had live music one of the nights we were there.

It's not as luxurious as the nearby Capella but is incredibly good value for money.

Highly recommend for a traveller looking for an easy & relaxing place to stay!

After much deliberation I chose this hotel - what a lovely experience. Cabo is expensive so be mindful of the cost to eat and drink but accept this upon booking and you will realise it's value for money - you get what you pay for!

Food was wonderful both in the bar and restaurant and at the pool. Selection of drinks was superb and most importantly the staff were absolutely wonderful. Travelling alone you get to see everything and I looked and watched!! Kellie on reception was like a friend from start to finish, Manuel and all the concierge personnel were at all times friendly and helpful.

My room was a little above average but perfectly acceptable and the cleaning staff kept it in perfect condition every day and were also friendly when greeting along the corridor.

The bar has such a wonderful fun atmosphere and the restaurant is definitely worth a visit even if you're not staying here.

But the best thing for me had to have been the staff - every single one of them greeted me with friendliness, helpfulness and a great banter, it was so much fun staying here - I loved it.

The location is incredible - 5mins walk from the beach which is a wonderful beach and again so many friendly people. Lots of places to eat and drink, golden sand and clear blue water and lots of water sports. 10 min walk from the marina with lovely restaurants and bars again and then a little further to the bars and clubs for a wild night out!

It takes a few days anywhere to get your bearings and I felt like I found myself very quickly in this little piece of heaven. Thank you to all at the BAHIA for giving me such a wonderful experience.

This hotel was really good for a couple who wanted to avoid all the silly resort stuff. The hotel has a boutique feel, like a european mediteranian hotel. Its well away from the horrible marina and close to the beach. Marco in the pool bar is a wonderfull asset, ask him about anything, he will recommend local stuff that are worth checking out. The food is excellent! Will stay here again!

Room Tip: We were high up in an old room facing the pool and were very happy with the room.

Thank you for your review. We are developing a very loyal client who do not want the impersonalized experience of the larger resorts. They enjoy the boutique experience and the fact that they can walk to everything.

We stayed at the Bahia for one night (we flew in a day early before our one week "time share" started). We chose the Bahia because of the close proximity to our "time share" hotel. The Bahia is in a great location...close to the marina and town. The room was large, the pool was nice and the restaurant seemed to be very popular, expecially with the live band playing until midnight....we know what time the band stopped playing because our room was located right above the restaurant (and the band). I did ask Guest Services if we could be moved to a quieter location, but apparently no other rooms were available. The one (huge) problem that we had with the room was that our 2 (teenage) boys had to use the pull out couch, which was worn out, thin, collapsing, dirty and just plain gross. The boys decided to sleep on a long, narrow bench in the room - which was indeed a crummy nights sleep. For 2 people and for just an interim night I would recommend this hotel, but for a family of four I would say look elsewhere first.
