This hotel is not for everyone, see previous reviews. We stayed three days over New Years eve and enjoyed the proximety to Cabo Central. Would walk up to the main area, stay for 3 - 4 hours, back to the hotel for a couple hours, rest, then back up again.
This hotel is for the budget traveler and for the location, so don't expect more. Room clean, but old, breakfast minimal, but will get you to an early lunch or late breakfast. This was our purpose and I was satisfied. At first I wasn't sure of the security, but after arriving back from new years celebrating, we found the gate locked with a security guard. I was fine after that.
My suggestion would be that they install water efficient shower heads(couldn't be more then $40 - $50 to do this) as this could help with the shortage of hot water when the hotel was full.
The three days were quiet and it seemed that the residents were couples and families. Could hear some noise in the room next door, but overall relaxing.
The area leading up to Cabo central had a mix of many small restaurants and services. Had breakfast at a place directly across from the Thai restaurant on the same side of the street. Delicious, hot, good price and great service. Could have stayed in the area a couple of more days to enjoy the area and of course Cabo environment. My wife got her hair done for $25 at one of the shops. There is a Reiki place near by, but reservations are needed. Had some traditional Mexican food at an open air place and took coffee at an open air place that had a guy with a great voice singing traditional songs. One house along the route had a twenty four hour party going. They saw us many times walking by and at one point waved us over. They were a little drunk, so we declined.
A couple of blocks down the street there was a hotel Cabo Cush and I was shown a very clean room and bathroom. They said they offered hot water, so they must know their competition down the street. Didn't seem the same security as Santa Fe, but the doors did have stronger locks.
