What a disappointment. This is a Silver Crown RCI rated resort of which I will be sending them a FULL Review. Very steep steps (130) to Room 5A, no view, rooms dirty with live cockroaches and a blood stain on 1 couch, very old and dirty curtains, no ice, a small window air conditioner ONLY in the bedrooms that were extremely loud and kept us awake. We thought the Pool would cool us off after arrival (75 steps down) but found it with no lights on and alot of algae. RCI moved us to a BEAUTIFUL room at Pueblo Bonito at Sunset Beach and then our vacation began 24 hours later.

Room Tip: Do NOT stay here. If you do, don't stay in Room 5A.

This was a great find! The resort is situated in the heart of Caba San Lucas, just five minutes from the marina, with many great inexpensive restaurants within five minutes walking distance. Both Wal Mart and Costco are just a short taxi ride away, and the resort offers a full kitchen to cut down on cost of meals.
The only consideration for this resort is that it is on the side of a mountain, with lots of stairs.

Room Tip: If you have problems climbing steps, choose one of the lower units.

Granted there are stairs, however this small intimate resort is great and staff is friendly, attentive and just wonderful. If you want an ocean view and large deck this is the place. Small price to pay is the amount of stairs you need to climb depending which condo they give you. You are walking distance to almost everything.

Room Tip: If you are concerned about the stairs, just call the front desk and tell them you want one of the lo...

If you are injured or otherwise NOT able-bodied, Portofino is probably not the place you want to stay…the stairs are real and plentiful. But if your legs work, you enjoy having a SPECTACULAR ocean view and you’re worried about all the butter you’ll be dipping your lobster in – then the stairs are a blessing and well worth it!!

One of the major highlights of the resort is the location. You are steps away from dozens of restaurants. You can try something new every day – every single one a stand out!! Across the street is a plaza and next to the school you’ll find a great little coffee shop. One of the best lattes I’ve had in a long time!!

We stayed in unit 1B – a mere 70 or so steps from the lobby. And let me tell you – it sounds far worse than it actually is. They helped us bring up our luggage, our groceries and supplied us with a 5 gallon jug of water – so all the heavy lifting is done for you! And seriously…the view alone is worth the effort.

Our room – 1B – is a one bedroom suite. Enter into a kitchen/living space. The kitchen is compact but literally has everything you need from pots and pans to coffee mugs and glasses. There was not a single thing we were left wanting for. There was a nice breakfast bar, gas stove/oven and decent sized fridge.

Our living space had a very comfy sofa (futon), two comfy chairs, coffee table, and flat screen television. The living room opened up onto our patio (with separate doors as well into the bedroom). The patio is huge with an amazing view over the town and out into the harbour. On the patio, we had a breakfast table, four chairs and two lounge chairs. Also two ceiling fans to keep us comfy. This unit had great morning sun and midday shade.

The bedroom was huge with loads of storage. Our bed was wide as a king but a bit on the short side. Fine for us but might be a touch on the short side for those in the 6 ft + club? I loved the pillows…all six of them!

A/C in both the main living space and the bedroom, operated by remote control.

The bathroom was accessed through the bedroom. Spacious enough for us.

Housekeeping did a great job tidying our room up every day and keeping everything feeling fresh and clean. The only oversight that stood out to me was “hand-grime” on door frames. But other than that, I couldn’t make a single complaint.

The staff at the resort are wonderful. Friendly & attentive. They put on a great little BBQ on Tuesday night that you should definitely take advantage of! In the lobby, you’ll also find lots of books, games and DVDs you can borrow during your stay. They’ll also loan out a cooler and beach umbrellas as needed.

And lastly, the pool area is functional but doesn’t stand out as a highlight to me. Because the resort is so small, it doesn’t really get busy down there. But if you’re a shade seeker it could be touch and go with only one umbrella to go around.

Room Tip: If you don't like stairs, be sure to request a lower room!

Wished I would have read the previous reviews better before we made the choice. This is a small resort with a great location but when we arrived what shock. Our room was as the top of this resort up 138 stairs on the side of a hill that is difficult to go up. They should have a warning up front that if you have any physical problems it may be difficult to get to your room. My daughter in law is pregnant and it was very difficult for her to get to the room and carrying anything up those ridiculous stairs was an extreme effort. When we were about two thirds up the stairs it started smelling like sewer. We had to leave the bathroom door shut at all times due to the smell and there was green slime stuff coming out of the shower head. The futon/couch was uncomfortable and could not be used as second bed. The view was spectacular of the City and Marina area but at the expense of the stairs. I left with sore legs and a pain in my knee from these stairs. We went out of our way to try and make the trips to our room limited. Twice my should hit the roof of a unit as it hung over the stairs! We would not go back and do not recommend this.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a lower unit!
