“Farallon” – a rock that came out of the ocean.
After driving through the chandelier lit tunnel, the only entrance to Capella Pedregal, we were greeted at the beautiful iron gates by the guard who checked for our name on the reservation list. The gates opened slowly and welcomed us to the beginning of a memorable evening.
A representative from El Farallon accompanied us on our long walk through the winding pathways of the resort. Every turn in our path revealed a visual feast culminating in our arrival at our destination – El Farallon.
We are two couples – friends for many years – never at a lack for conversation. But this time, there was silence. The beauty that presented itself to us, took our breath away. We felt like we were in another world.
El Farallon is carved into the cliffs over the Pacific Ocean.
We were seated at a table next to a railing overlooking the waves crashing into the cliffs below – spectacular.
The local catch is displayed on shaved ice. You make your selection. The selections and prices are displayed on a handwritten chalkboard. Each selection comes with a choice of two vegetables, soup, and appetizers.
The blending of tastes, textures and colors were different and amazing. As light turned to darkness, torches and lamps were lit – a quiet sophistication. The moon was shining over the ocean. The stars were shining on a clear night. Truly a romantic atmosphere.
The service was the best. Each course timed perfectly. After dinner we were met by a golf cart which transported us to the main gate, where our taxi was already waiting for us.
This was truly a world class dining experience.
