“Farallon” – a rock that came out of the ocean.

After driving through the chandelier lit tunnel, the only entrance to Capella Pedregal, we were greeted at the beautiful iron gates by the guard who checked for our name on the reservation list. The gates opened slowly and welcomed us to the beginning of a memorable evening.

A representative from El Farallon accompanied us on our long walk through the winding pathways of the resort. Every turn in our path revealed a visual feast culminating in our arrival at our destination – El Farallon.

We are two couples – friends for many years – never at a lack for conversation. But this time, there was silence. The beauty that presented itself to us, took our breath away. We felt like we were in another world.

El Farallon is carved into the cliffs over the Pacific Ocean.
We were seated at a table next to a railing overlooking the waves crashing into the cliffs below – spectacular.

The local catch is displayed on shaved ice. You make your selection. The selections and prices are displayed on a handwritten chalkboard. Each selection comes with a choice of two vegetables, soup, and appetizers.

The blending of tastes, textures and colors were different and amazing. As light turned to darkness, torches and lamps were lit – a quiet sophistication. The moon was shining over the ocean. The stars were shining on a clear night. Truly a romantic atmosphere.

The service was the best. Each course timed perfectly. After dinner we were met by a golf cart which transported us to the main gate, where our taxi was already waiting for us.

This was truly a world class dining experience.

Ok, this place is pricey - which driving through a private tunnel through the mountain lit by chandeliers and filled with art to get there should tell you. However, unlike many other restaurants who rely on the view and packaging to get you spend the $$$$, this place also offers you some of the finest seafood dining in Mexico. It will cost you $200 each but if you want to eat on a cliff hanging over the sea, have amazing food, and a view that will take your breath away at sunset, eat here.

From the moment of our arrival, until dinner was done we were impressed. The mythical tunnel we traveled through (lit by chandeliers and candles), the long beautiful walk and the approach to the cliffside setting were really beautiful. The staff was super attentive and very interested in helping you enjoy the dining experience. AND the food was simple amazing. I have never picked my fish for dinner and chose the parrot fish which is simply grilled - moist and delicious. My husband and I have dined at many elegant restaurants around the world but we both agree this is now at the top of our list. This is a MUST visit spot.

Dining by the sea the surroundings are stunning. It was just as perfect as the pictures on Trip advisor looked. As we came from outside the resort we had a wonderful tour to the restaurant. We sat and had a drink in the bar lounge area first and then went to our seat. The restaurant is almost cut out of the cliff face. Service was fantastic and not intrusive and there was a wonderful guitar player playing wonderful modern music such as Coldplay.

You pick your fish from a selection caught that day and I don't think I have had or will ever have better fish. Simply perfect!

Who cares what the food tastes like when you are dining seaside watching the waves crash around you and basking in the glow of a glorious sunset!? Good thing you don't have to choose here.

Incredible food and beautiful wine matches the surroundings. Service is excellent and the experience can not be matched. We ate here every night we stayed at Capella. And didn't think twice about it!

I also ordered a case of the wine we drank while there when I got home. It was SO GOOD.
