Stayed 7/22, 7/29-731

The San Angel Suites were clean, convenient and relatively cheap (The three, "C's" in my families lexicon!) I had a good chuckle at the keys left taped to the office door after hours (There were 3 sets) since they had left for the day. To those of you wondering about crime in Cabo San Lucas... what does this practice tell you?

Since this was our first trip to Cabo, we have a quick word of caution to those who rent a car: when navigating the roads to get here, road signs can vary considerably and in a lot of cases, are non-existent! We had several maps of Cabo and NONE of them were of much use until we became more familiar with the signage (or lack thereof)! After being lost for about 40 minutes (It did give us the chance to have a great tour of the Marina & surrounding area though!) We actually found the place by accident when we were turning around and were stuck on the one way street next to the hotel!

The room itself was cool & clean. The A/C worked fairly silently and made our stay there very comfortable (The reason for a "Very Good" rating is that the other unit that my in-laws had suffered from an anemic A/C and took forever to cool their room down. It didn't bother them too much since they're more used to the heat than we are (coming from Southern California). There was also no one around (that we could locate) to check it.

I shared a bed with my son and my wife shared the other with our daughter. Except for occasional hassles with, "Who gets to use the bathroom first...!" the room was large enough to fit all our luggage and move around in without feeling claustrophobic! My family used the full kitchen area several times and found it to be perfect to cook/reheat food, store our perishables and libations and get a quick cup of coffee in the morning. My only minor complaint was that after your initial 2 packets of coffee the first day, they never restocked them!

The jacuzzi pool is small and was good for a quick dip when we needed to cool down a little when eating out on the patio area.

The location is great! It is only 1 short block to the waterfront. During the day, we usually went through the "flea market" area (We actually only went into and through it once). After that, we walked alongside of it to get to/from the Marina. At night, due to the lack of lights, we went around the sidewalk to the left and entered from the hotels entrance. At night, you are far enough away not to be bothered by noise.

I would definitely recommend this place to those who want a place with the "Three C's"!

We loved our stay at San Angel Suites. It's not your regular budget hotel. It's spacious, clean, quiet, and cheap! It's located near the Marina/Downtown and the beach. Even though housecleaning is extra, they came and cleaned our room for free for two days. I would definitely recommend this hotel for people looking to be close to the action, but not overwhelmed by it.

Room Tip: Upstairs Suites have vaulted ceilings

Loved the location - close to Marina & town. Rooms are spacious with full kitchens. Beds are very comfortable. The complex is very secure & staff is friendly. Convenience stores nearby for staples. The only down side is that there is really no view. A great option for those on a budget.

I highly recommend these suites for anyone who is a budget traveler and who likes to get a real value for your dollar.
This is what I would call a "boutique" hotel nestled in the entrance of the ritzy Pedregal. Stars and people with oodles of money live here. Million dollar homes surround this area and when you walk out you can see mountains as well as water. The grounds and the areas surrounding the hotel are beautifully landscaped with colorful flowers, cactus, palms, aloe vera, and agave. It struck me as to how clean well maintained the grounds were. It was very peaceful and quiet here in late January/early Feb.

We arrived on a Sunday to the small front office and our keys and a typed letter were waiting for us, taped to the door. This is how they do it after hours. The instructions in the letter were precise and we had no trouble navigating the gate and getting to our room. We stayed in room 4 upstairs, a junior suite with a double bed and full kitchen. The upper level rooms have vaulted ceilings so it feels quite large when you walk in. Everything appears to have been remodeled and close to brand new.
The kitchen is wonderful, especially for this just being a junior suite. It is large with a good size fridge, not one of those tiny ones. There is a cooktop and a microwave, but no oven or dishwasher. The sink was big and they give you soap and a sponge and towel...if you care to do dishes while on vacation! There are some basic pots and pans, utensils, sharp knives as well as a table setting of 4 with silverware and cups. I found a cutting board and a strainer as well. You could live here for an extended time if need be. They even have a gas grill outside for those who like to cook.
In the sitting area/bedroom was a nice leather recliner and a regular chair facing the flat screen TV. Most channels are in Spanish, however we did find 2 channels with English speaking shows.
The bed was VERY comfortable even if it was a bit small for 2 people. We slept very well here and the A/C unit is very quiet. In Cabo in Jan., it is not as hot as it would be in Cancun or other areas. The weather was perfect, mid 70's with low humidity and nice breezes.
The surrounding neighborhood seems to be very safe (locked gates to the entrance of this hotel make you feel even more secure) and this hotel is close to everything. You can walk right out and be at the marina in 2 minutes, as well as multiple shopping areas and restaurants. There is a California market super close by, which is like a small Whole Foods Market. The prices are very steep but quality is good and it is nice that you can run and get some eggs or a loaf of bread in a minute's notice. We never did venture out to find a WalMart or the CCC Market, since there was just the 2 of us. There are a couple of smaller stores close by too that are cheaper to get your beer, sodas, and ice. There are many pharmacies close by if you need ibuprofen or anything like that. Mini day-spas are everywhere for a quick massage or manicure. Taco stands, bars, restaurants of all varieties and price ranges are within walking distance (Cabo Wabo), bring your comfy shoes. Oh and speaking of shoes, the floor in our room was a colored concrete floor, so some flip-flops or slippers would be helpful too.
The common area to this hotel has a large hot tub in what I would call the "courtyard", a peaceful inner area that truly was quiet the whole time we were there. There did not seem to be any families with small children here or partying college students. It was very much middle-age and up couples just trying to relax. There is a small "balcony" off most rooms which isn't good for sitting, but just opening the doors and letting the air come through and stepping out to see the scenery in the mornings.
The bathroom was quite large with an over-sized shower and good counter space. There was a hairdryer and shampoo, conditioner and soap. The towels were adequate for us. It all seemed very clean.
Overall, a very good stay for the money. If you like pools, gyms, and room service, then this is not the place for you. They do not clean the rooms everyday and there is no sparkling beach 10 steps out of your room. Just a nice relaxing visit where they leave you alone.

Room Tip: I liked our room #4 upstairs with a vaulted ceiling, away from the main road and looking over the co...

We got off to a bad start because even though we had let them know our arrival time, no one was there to meet us. Instead, there was an envelope with keys, instructions and a credit card receipt. We were not best pleased to not even see anyone who worked there for the 3 days we were there. Not to mention, them charging my credit card without even checking if that's how we wanted to pay (we wanted to pay cash as we live in Mexico and the credit card is a foreign account). It was not ideal that there was no one we could ask for advice on restaurants and tours. However, the place itself is in a great location and very clean and convenient. Now that I know what to expect I would probably stay there again despite lack of help.

We stayed for 7 days and had a rental car. Didn't need one really for anything short of going to out of the way beaches. San Angel Suites is only 2 blocks from marina and main road for buses and about 3 blocks from great restaurants. Victor had someone meet us to give us keys the evening we arrived. Our room was clean, better than expected, and ready for us. We took care of the formalities the next morning when Victor arrived. I cannot say enough about the location of this place! If you go anywhere on the BEST OF CABO sites including TA...you will find San Angel Suites close to anything you want to go to. About the only thing that is a bit of a walk is Medano Beach. But to be honest....there are much better beaches to go to by bus or car. Medano is really just a walking people watching beach. We had no issues with the absent pool...we just went to large resorts in the area and purchased food and drink to use their ammenities. Highly suggest the Grand Sol Mar right down the street from San Angel Suites...their pool right on the Pacific side by Lands End is warm and the service is great and you save $1000 per night on the stay! We never had a problem using facilities anywhere in Cabo when spending money at the resort. Would not hesitate to stay at San Angel Suites again for a week or a couple of months! Thanks again Victor for a wonderful vacation!
