Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Golf & Spa Resort

Sunset Beach is a beautiful resort...and huge. The resort sits on the side of a mountain and seems like every room has a view of the ocean. There are plenty of small winding roads to get around, we opted to walk most of the time which got tiring towards the end of the week but there are no-stop golf carts driving around willing to pick you up and take you where you need to go. The service was really good, always came with a smile and funny comment, but professional. We opted out of the all-inclusive. Even though we had a small kitchen we never cooked at all. We had a few meals at the resort which were very good. We spent most of time going into town on the free shuttle to the sister resort Pueblo Bonito Rose. Its definitely not cheap to eat out but its also not crazy expensive either. I highly recommend a small restaurant called Maria Corona which is 1 street off the main strip in downtown Cabo, easily 1 of the top 5 meals I have ever had. I also recommend visiting their other sister resort Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos, a lot smaller but really cool vibe and atmosphere. Sunset Beach is more geared towards timeshare owners who are looking to relax (a bit of an older crowd, my wife and I are 35) but we still had fun. The only room for improvement that I suggest are more focus on activities at the resort, and better music at the pool bars which seemed to just blare random music genres at all times of the day. Also a tub in the bathroom would be nice, all we had was a shower. All in all a great trip, I would not be against going back but usually we like trying new resorts so not sure if that will happen.

I also recommend doing the timeshare presentation, we had no intention of buying anything and made that very politely clear. We got $300 in resort credits and a dinner cruise for 2 which paid for 75% of our resort food and drink bill. They say it lasts 90 minutes but we were out in 45 minutes when our rep understood that we weren't going to buy. You also get free buffet breakfast out of it.

Room Tip: All rooms are great, ask for a higher placed building if you love the view, or lower if you want to...

Sunset Beach is a full-service resort located on the tip of the Baja peninsula, within a 15 minute cab ride of the downtown Cabo action. No need to leave, though, as there are numerous pools, restaurants, small bars (including one near the beach), and most rooms have full kitchens. Service is top-rate, and the grounds and rooms are immaculate. Most of the pools have bar and food availability, and happy hour is noon to 1:00 (2 for 1). There is a deli which has basic groceries and fresh wraps and sandwiches - the wraps are fresh and huge. The restaurant food is good to excellent, and options include several restaurants and poolside food at most of the pools. Am not a fan of the buffets at La Nao, and found them expensive (Argentinian night was $45, and the meat was tough). La Frida is excellent, though also pricy - expect to pay ~$50 per person with appetizers, not including beverages. Overall, a wonderful experience, but wish there were more moderately priced restaurant options.

Room Tip: All rooms have an ocean view, so there really is not a bad room.

This is honestly where I found myself(little extreme) but I live it here. The service is great! I was very hesitant about traveling to Mexico, but it is soooooo safe on the resort. Just use common sense. Also it is very well appreciated if u great the staff in Spanish . I suggest not to do the all inclusive. Go to Walmart on our way from the airport . The food there is pricey. You will get the greatest sleep ever here, and it is so relaxing. I like it cause there aren't any spring breakers. Also if u want, go to the sister resorts for more of the venders and parting. Also one last piece of advice. Go to The Office for a great night. It is directly in the beach!!! Any ways , I❤CABO

This was our first trip to Cabo San Lucas and we are already planning a return. Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach was wonderful! We enjoyed days of sunshine at the Sky Pool and Main Pool each overlooking the Pacific. Our waiter, Victor Alvarez was always friendly and efficient. We saw whales each day while relaxing by the pool. Sunset Beach is on the Pacific with a strong current, so you can't swim on these beaches. The beaches downtown are on the Sea of Cortez and are great for swimming and snorkeling. We chose not to go with the all-inclusive because we knew we wanted to go into town for dinners. The resort shuttle from Sunset Beach to downtown Cabo San Lucas is a quick trip. We enjoyed some of our lunches and dinners at Sunset Beach restaurants, but the restaurants in Cabo were wonderful too. Great food and atmosphere!

We have been owners since 2008 and the last time we stayed a PBSB was Oct 2012. Quite frankly we were so disappointed with our visit at that time, we almost sold our ownership. We were always used to 5 star everything, from the condition and cleanliness of the suites, the beautiful ocean views from every room, the special attention to detail in ground maintenance, the exceptional restaurants and wonderful service with a smile from everyone who worked there. Mr. Dodge was the General Manager there for a number of years and he left several months before our last visit in 2012. I can tell you that the resort REALLY missed him. Everything seemed to go from a 9 or 10 rating to maybe at best 6 or 7. The all inclusive option seemed to be a complete disaster having an adverse effect on staff moral and guest alike. Thankfully we kept our ownership (we traded out last year) and returned this year the first week in March. I am very happy to report that their new General Manager who replaced the gentleman that replaced Mr. Dodge has done an excellent job of turning things around and getting PBSB back on track to being a top 5 Cabo resort, just like the old days. Is there still some room for improvement? Sure, but the resort we visited earlier this month was vastly better than two years ago and I can see they are making the effort in many ways.

Room Tip: Get an ocean front if available. First time we have been down on the beach and it was amazing!

Had a great time - Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach was amazing - will be back next year. All employees were so helpful and could not do enough for us! We did not do the "All Inclusive" because we wanted to venture out of the property for Cabo eating experiences which we would truly do again.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less golf cart noise.

I can not say enough wonderful accolades about this property and the people that take care of you while you are there. PBSB is so breath taking which ever way you look especially during sunrise and sunset. The resort family is the friendliest and most help people I've experienced in a long time at any resort. The resort doesn't have a swim friendly beach but there are enough pools to get your sun and fun on and enough shuttles that can carry you to the sister resorts which do have swim and water sport friendly beaches. You can visit another beautiful resort and have your fun in the sun beach style too. But PBSB is so relaxingly soothing that you may find yourself just kicking back and loosing yourself in the luxury alone. Whether you want the excitement of the city (which is also tourist friendly) or just the appearance of seclusion, this resort has it all. Oh and make sure the sky pool is first in your to do list. Best to get up there by 10am to get the best tan and towel location. The infinity pool with the view will blow you away alone. My friends and I can't wait to go back next year!!! Hi to the friendliest golf guy on earth, Efren!!!!
