“AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2010

We just returned from a week stay at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach. We had an amazing time! The resort is located over the hill from the downtown area of Cabo San Lucas. We loved the location because it was out of the way of the hustle and bustle and the party scene.

The resort is HUGE!!! And you can be transported from place to place on the golf carts that will take you through the winding paths up and down the hills. There are six pools: the main pool, the adult pool, the childrens pool, the sky pool and two other pools that are located around the property. Our favorite was the sky pool, it is at the top of the property and has AMAZING views of the entire resort and the ocean.

The rooms are plush and have partial kitchens (everything except an oven) and include all the utensils and accessories (blender) you would need for your convenience. The hotel also offers a pillow menu and you can choose from firm feather, soft feather, tempur and one other type I forget what it was.

If you are going to Cabo for the beach then this might not be the right place for you because it is located on a non-swimming beach. If you are looking for a major party scene then this is also not the right hotel for you. If you require those things for your trip I recommend the Pueblo Bonito Rose because it is located on Medano beach and is near enough to walk to town.

While this resort is definitely not within walking distance to the town they do offer a shuttle service throughout the day to the Rose resort in town. If you like nightlife you can take the shuttle to the Rose and walk into town and take a cab back to the resort once you are done. Cabs run anywhere from $10-12 US to the resort. Make sure to ask the cab driver first what he will charge you.

Some other things of note: there is a deli/mini grocery onsite and they do have plans to open a full grocery store...The deli is equipped with most of the simple things that you would want in your kitchen during your stay. However, they do charge a premium for these items. Thankfully we had a car and made a stop at the local Costco and Walmart for some food to eat while there.

If you are a tequila lover and have a Costco membership I recommend that you go there and choose from their huge selection of tequila and take a bottle home. It will save you a lot of money and haggling from the small shops in town.

There are free wifi hotspots at the main deli by the lobby, the manila bar by the main pool and at the sky pool so if you need to have access you can use your electronic devices there.

Overall we had such a great time on our vacation we never really wanted or needed to leave the resort.

I had the pleasure of staying at the PBSB for the week of Aug.9th through the 16th.I travelled w/ my 2 children ages 11 and 17 and my sister and her teenage children. In the past, I have stayed at only first class hotels including the Ritz Carlton and in my opinion PBSB was equal to if not better than the Ritz.
The rooms were spotlessly clean. The service was impeccable. I too had used the free voucher from booking a cruise from American Express last year. I was expecting to be hit w/ extra charges etc. but was not.

The grounds of the hotel are immaculate and breathtakingly beautiful. The golf carts, I felt, were an added perk.We never waited long, the drivers were sooo nice and they were a lot of fun. And you never had to walk more than a few feet. The on site Chapel was also beautiful as was the impressive lobby. The shops and deli made it convenient to grab a quick snack.

The restaurants including the Bisto was very reasonably priced and delicious.Pool service was great and the food was very good! La Frida was the best meal and service we had. It was more expensive than the other restaurants but well worth the experience.

The time share presentation was wonderful and well worth the1 1/2 hrs. in exchange for 200 dollars,a bottle of tequllia and the incredible discounts for activities. We got great discounts for the yellow submarine, dolphin swim and zip line excursions. Be prepared though to pay cash!

This was truly a memorable vacation and I can say that I will be a return guest!

We stayed here in the middle of August this year, and this is a gorgeous resort. All the workers were very friendly and helpful. Yes, you have to get a golf cart to go places, but they are often they were often there before we got down. You can't swim in the beach, but then it's much more beautiful and less crowded with no peddlers. Our teenage son most likely would have enjoyed it more on the other side of the rocks, but with 4 pools and an easy ride to the other resorts, we were fine. Ate at 3 of the restaurants, and the food was wonderful. We received a free upgrade, and stayed in the larger suite which had an outdoor jacuzzi and ocean view. We highly recommend this resort. (Sorry, but only phone photos as our camera went swimming!)

Just got back from spending a week at PBSB from 8/9 - 8/16 and had an unbelievable time! We used the promotion through American Express that gave us a free week here when we booked a cruise through them. I was very leery because I thought it was too good to be true. It was better than I ever imagined. The rooms are beautiful and spotless. I was lucky to be placed in building 41 which was just opened in January. This building had its own pool which was never crowded ... so easy to get a lounge chair. The golf carts were no problem at all ... in fact, they were fun. Never waited a long time for one. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. As far as the tour, you would be crazy not to go on it. For only 1 1/2, you got a very nice breakfast, saw the beautiful rooms, no high pressure sales. It was well worth the $200 in credits and the amazing savings on the excursions.

The staff are courteous and helpful. Their focus is to "please" and it's quite obvious they get the job done. Not only that ... they are honest. By mistake I threw out my pocketbook (which had broke) with my wedding ring in it. By the time I discovered what I did, it was the morning of check out and thought I'd never see it again. When I contacted housekeeping, they told me they would try to locate the bag and if they find it, they'll contact me at home. I thought it was gone for good. What a surprise I had when I got home and there was an email with a picture of my ring. They were able to locate the bag and the ring!!!!! They went above and beyond to locate the pocketbook. I don't think there is another hotel that would have taken the time to help me. That alone makes this a very special place ... run by very special people.

I only wish that I was in a position economically to be able to purchase a timeshare because this is one place that I want to return.

The resort is absolutely stunning, it is clean, comfortable, luxurious, 3 or 4 pools to enjoy, little golf cart to transport you around the resort, beautiful restaurants... If you think of buying a timeshare, I would definitely consider this resort.
We were staying in a one bedroom apartment that must have been 1000sqf, marble flooring, granit counter top, well equipped kitchen, two massive bathrooms, a great and large balcony facing the ocean, etc. Our stay was absolutely fabulous.
The drawbacks are location of the hotel, it is a bit ourside the center and you cannot swim at the beach... but this should not surprise anybody as it is the case for pretty much 95% of all hotel in Cabos.
On the other hand, you can take the hotel shuttle bus to the other two Pueblo Bonito Hotels located downtown. You can even charge your meals and drinks you take at the downtown location to hotel room at Sunset Beach. The "downtown" location have a beach in which you can swim, which is pretty good.

This rsort is differenct from most resorts; the rooms are in small buildings around the property. A fleet of carts provide transportion between buildings. Our room had a great view of the beach. The restaurants in the Resort are very good and downtown cabo is a short cab ride away.

Going to the timeshare presentation is the worth the time to ge room credits and activity discounts.

stayed here 2 1/2 years ago when much newer. the rooms are outdated and in need of upgrading. had bug issues and the air condioner made loud sound the entire stay. pueblo bonito is only concerned about selling more time share there. you should check online for much better deals from owner than pay the rediculus prices through there sight. the resort is lovely and the golf cart drivers and waiters are very pleasant but the staff at check in was least to be desired. don't go to the walmart for food the cab ride is 30 us dollars and the place is absolutely discusting. nothing like the us. the fruit and vegetable and deli was awful my daughter had found bones in her ham deli meat and broke a tooth. you better off buying from the resort deli for about the same price as walmart. other than the liquer which you can buy downtown for very cheap. the resort at rose was an eyesore. what a shame and the walk to downtown was very difficult unless you are an athlete. not recommended for middle aged elders or children. better take a taxi. overall the resot is very beautiful the pools superb the rooms need serious updating. we stayed an an executive suite with two queen beds that were lumpy and in desperate need of replacement the couch in the living room could suit maybe very small children because you pull out the cushion to sleep on the floor. I hope this is helpful in your decision making. check around
