This place was amazing. We actually stayed at the Exclusive Resorts villas that are located by Esperanza. We had stayed with some friends and felt like a million bucks here. We stayed in the casita and enjoyed the private pool with a front ocean view. We enjoyed the private chef dinner, the mexican festival/dinner and fireworks even the golf cart that we rode around the resort :)
It's a great place to share with friends. I highly recommend it. We definitely would pay the premium price to be here. Once we left this place we went to Riu Palace for a wedding and it was by far no comparison. We should have stayed here and not have left.

This resort was amazing. The entrance is a bit hard to find.

It is located on the main corridor between san jose del cabo and los cabos. The location is breathtaking. We stayed in private residence 2301 with 3 bedrooms 3 baths it had its own private outdoor pool. The master bedroom had a jacuzzi large enough for two. All the rooms had a ocean views and were equipped with comfortable beds and linens . The staff really made the stay enjoyable. Our maid was great and we made sure we left a tip every day. This resort is great for relaxing with 4 large pools, 2 with swim-up bars the other 2 with wait staff. We had meals at the palapa restaurant. My wife really liked the cardio exercise room of the resort. It was great to be able to walk out of the room every morning to a view to die for. this resort is not for kids. some teenagers may find it boring, but if you like to relax and use the spa service in a private setting this is the location for you. We like to drive in to town and check out other local spots whenever we travel, so we rented a suburban for the week, we really enjoyed the time spent in down town cabo. There are no night clubs or bars after dark near this resort, so you must take a taxi.

Room Tip: I would highly recommend residence 2301.

My wife and I went to the Esperanza the week of April 16 thru the 23rd. This was our fourth visit. How can I say, it just gets better everytime we go. The one thing that really sets this resort apart is the staff. We could not have asked for more. Everyone had a smile on their face and did their utmost to ensure we got exactly what was wanted. The food was excellent and the chef prepared special dishes for us with fresh fish caught that day. We've never had a more relaxing, fun time ever. I high recommend the Esperanza to all; you won't be disappointed.

My wife and I stayed at Esperanza April 17-23. To a person we found the staff warm, friendly and well presented. The location is beautiful, the rooms very well appointed and the food generally very good. But what really caught our attention was how consistently great the service was. The employees seemed genuine and were consistently attentive and gracious.

As a member of exclusive resorts, I have stayed in some of the nicest resorts around the world. The Cabo villas are by far the best and would be hard to beat.

Bar staff are incredibly friendly. Befriend them early, and enjoy 'best friend' service for your entire stay.

We just got back from 6 days at Esperanza. We rented a 2 bedroom suite and paid $2,000 a night for it. When a hotel charges such high prices, there is an implicit understanding that a certain level of service will be provided. We did not experience that level of service.

There was nothing big that happened but many, many small annoying events that should not happen at a resort of this caliber. For example, upon check in, we noticed that our sink was clogged. We called and they immediately sent someone out to unclog the sink, but whatever they did made the room smell like a sewer that night. Sleeping in a stinking room was not what we had in mind when we booked here. That same night, we tried to lock the doors to the balcony because we have a precocious 2 year old and didn't want him to wake up and wonder out onto the balcony in the middle of the night (or fall off for that matter). The lock on the door was broken.

We tried to connect to the internet and noticed that the router in the room was not working. We had to call 4 separate times over the course of 2 days to finally get it up and running.

We were assigned a villa on the first floor and there were people staying in the villa above us. The walls are very, very thin. We could hear their converstions, their TV and even the cleaning ladies broom strokes when they were cleaning the room upstairs. I mention this because we while we were there, there were very few people staying and they had a ton of availability. They could have easily put us in a room with nobody staying above us (by the way, I specifically mentioned this at check in and they told me not to worry, they would make sure we had peace and quiet), but yet they did not.

Upon check in, we were told that they will stock the refrigerator with 4 bottles of flat and 4 bottles of sparkling water every day and that those were free. When we got there, the refrigerator was stocked. After the first day, they never restocked it. I called about 4 times during our stay to ask for water! They would bring it only after I called despite asking them over and over to make sure to stock it the next day please so that I didn't have to call.

We asked that they provide our turn down service very early as our son goes to bed by 7:30. The first 3 nights they were there by 6:00. The last 2 nights, they didn't show up until 9:00 p.m. When we refused the turn down service at 9:00 so as to not wake up our child, they called us on the room phone to confirm that we didn't want the service. Needless to say, he woke up.

I had asked for teabags to be left in the room because I don't drink coffee, only tea. After 2 or 3 phone calls and no teabags, I had to go to their market and pay $4/per teabag. Upon checkout, I told them what had happened and they waived the cost of the teabags, but the fact that it happened was annoying.

On 2 of the 6 days we were there, we sat down to breakfast and were completely ignored for 30 minutes while everybody else around us got served. We actually had to go find a waiter and ask him to at least bring us some juice while we waited.

One day during our stay, we went to the pool at about 4:00 in the afternoon when most people had already left. When we got out, there were no towels. I had to walk back to our room, dripping wet to get towels for everyone. On another occasion, we had all our belongings on 2 lounge chairs along with our towels. When we got out of the pool, they had removed all of the towels and again, there were no towels to be found anywhere.

Again, none of these are big deals and would be expected if we were staying at a lesser hotel. However, when we paid $2,000/night, it certainly was not what we were expecting. And by the way, I've only mentioned some of the things they got wrong. There were many other similar things that happened over the course of 6 days.

On the postive side, it is a beautiful resort, has 4 pools to choose from, 2 of which are very child friendly, the food is good and we did not find the food terribly expensive, the drinks were great and they seemed to actually be trying. I don't know whether the problem is one of training or whether it's just too big for them to get most things right, but they really, really, need to work on the level of service they provide.

When we go back to Cabo, we will definitely try one of the other resorts. Unfortunately, the Esperanza did not meet our basic expectations.

even if i have a great experience in hotels, i personally never felt inclined to write reviews but my stay at the esperanza was so mind-blowingly awesome that i am more than happy to extol the services and beauty of this destination publicly. our personal concierge, rey rosas, was more than helpful and incredibly patient with the mulitple changes we had to make in our plans. he was always one step ahead so that when we asked for help, it was already being arranged. everyone in the resort understood the balance of being attentive and not too intrusive as i have witnessed their fantastic service for the other vacationers as well.

i cannot stress enough that the esperanza is the perfect destination for couples, especially honeymooners, but it is just as wonderful for families. we stayed in casita 39 and enjoyed its facilities very much. the jacuzzi was clean and warmed up for us and little touches such as the little figurine accents left on the bed every night were much appreciated. the fruit basket was never empty and the bathroom was kept not only spotless but thoughtfully organized. the resort itself is carefully guarded as it has two security checkpoints at which the guards take note of every single vehicle that enters the premises so i always felt safe. as the other reviewers have mentioned, the pool area is unreal and the rather private beach is gorgeous as the esperanza's layout has been designed perfectly within its natural environment.

the food at the restaurant is ok. i preferred the mexican cuisine at their other restaurant, la palapa which had the best beef fajitas! breakfast everyday was included in our package and was the most value-worthy breakfast deal i have ever had. the food was delicious and the chocolate croissants were unexpectantly amazing. we arrived on thursday and caught the weekly mexican festivities, which included fireworks. the beachfront provides an excellent option for a private dinner.

i did not feel that i was sacrificing comfort for such luxurious experience which usually happens with some high-end hotels/resorts. everyone seemed to be there to relax rather than show off and the esperanza definitely controls so that easy excellence takes a priority in your stay. i would definitely visit again!
