“Thumbs up for Esperanza!”
Reviewed 27 August 2008

We stayed at Esperanza Resort for our honeymoon. We were there 4 nights. I loved every minute of it! The resort grounds are unbelievable. There are several pools that have swim up bars which is always a plus for me. But they also have an adult only pool that sits right over the ocean. The staff is very friendly! When we checked in the upgraded our room since it was slow that week. They made us feel so special by knowing our names and constantly checking in on us to make sure all our needs were met. Of course the resort is very pricey so if money is an issue then this is not the place for you. I used the work out facility which has both a weight room and a cardio room and has everything you need to get in a good workout. I also did a spa day which was very pleasant. An earlier post talked about having money and valuables taken from their room. We had nothing like that ever happen. However, we did place anything that we didn't want to end up losing in the safe that is provided in the room so not sure why this would ever be an issue. We attended several festivals and dinners on the resort and where very happy with the food and of course the service was always enjoyable. My only complaint is that a beer on the resort can run around $10. But I guess this is the cost you have to pay for being at a resort that is so nice! We will be going back again for sure!

I have to agree with the glowing nature of many of the other reviews of Esperanza. We have done our share of travelling, but on arrival at Esperanza my fiancee and I both agreed that this resort certainly has that "wow" factor. The location and views are simply stunning - everywhere you turn you have awesome panoramas of the junction of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. Whilst it is certainly not cheap, it really is a fantastic resort which is, in my opinion, worth the cash. Service was impeccable, rooms were huge and luxurious, one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in, food was very good (but again expensive) - make sure you get the "Tower" for breakfast (one of the few things actually included in the price!) and the spa was magnificent. Our personal concierge was very helpful and assisted us with private transfers to and from the airport, as well as a very successful fishing charter. Can't wait to get back (as soon as the credit card recovers...). You may also see some celebrities if that's your thing (we had breakfast next to Jenny Garth of 90210 fame).

When planning a honeymoon, you want every detail to be perfect. Thus the potential for disappointment due to high expectations is always there. Let me tell you that you can afford to have high expectations at Esperanza. This place was amazing! From the moment you arrive at the Cabo airport and the Audi is there to pick you up and wisk you away to the resort you know you are in good hands. I won't ruin the surprise of all the little details and extras the resort throws in (like the complimentary massages by the infinity pool) but it was exactly what I wanted out of a 5 star resort suitable for our honeymoon. Now you are paying for 5 star treatment, but for our honeymoon, why not. The pools were great and the water was cool even in the hot August sun. We were a little apprehensive about coming in the summer but as long as you don't mind a little heat it was great, and better prices too. It was also better than having hurricane Fay come through, like in the carribbean.
I would defiently recommend going for a package if one is available. We stayed for 5 nights which included daily breakfast (huge amounts of amazing foods and daily fresh squeezed juices, no buffet here!), and roundtrip airport transportation. I would also recommend getting some spa treatments and getting a room with a balcony infinity hot tub. Neither of us had been to Cabo before, but we only ended up going to Cabo san Lucas once because the resort was so nice. It was hard to leave after 5 days, but we are sure we will be back again.

We have been to many places all over the world, and this was the best ever! The rooms are wonderful - we had a one bedroom suit. The bed was the most comfortable ever, and the linens were great. On cooler nights, we opened the doors (which run the whole length of the room) and slept listening to the ocean. We felt like we were on a cruise! The food in the restaurants was great, although expensive. The location of each restaurant was wonderful - each one overlooks the beautiful ocean. Everything is open-air which was really nice. The spa was second to none. We had a couples massage and it was exceptional. This was the best vacation we have ever had!

Esperanza is the most beautiful hotel. it was recently renovated, so the rooms, restaurants, and pools are pristine. the ocean is all around you no matter where you are. we felt like we were in te middle of the ocean. our room was a garden suite with partial ocean view (abour $470/night) and it was fabulous. the adult pool is a luxurious infiniti pool direclty on the ocean. Hotel staff are very attentive, and were were even asked is we wanted foot massages as we were sun bathing. the mexican restaurant has delicious food-- we had dinner on a cliff overlooking the ocean with tiki torches and fire pits all around us. Free breakfast was included in the cost, and this wasnt coffee and bagels, it was full hot breakfast with fresh juice. So unbelievable! a personal concierage is assigned to each guest, so we never had to lift a finger for anything. the concierge was so nice and helpful. this place rocks. i am just left last week, and i am already planning our next trip!

Just returned from our 15th anniversary trip to Esperanza. It is every bit as lovely and wonderful as it looks in all the pictures. The room was amazing...incredible view...and the private infinity edge hot tub on the balcony was such an added luxury. The walls in the rooms slide open so you can sleep each night with the sounds/smells of the ocean crashing up onto the rocks and beach. The pools were lovely...the service was impecible. They are constantly bringing you fresh cold bottles of water, and there are ladies from the spa wandering around the pool giving foot or shoulder massages. Eating every meal in the restaurant that overlooks the ocean is breathtaking, and the breakfasts are really wonderful. We actually wished there would've been more traditional mexican selections on the menus...they have a lot of gourmet type specialities and not much else. A top recommendation is to get a massage in a cabana right on the beach. Unforgettable! Being at Esperanza is literally like stepping into the pages of a travel magazine. I highly recommend it for a romantic getaway.

This is one of the most beautiful resorts i have been to no doubt. We stayed at the residence villas in the largest 4 bedroom with a private pool and spa which was amazing and luxurious.
The first day our luggage was brought to the room, my fiance and i decided to check out the resort. We locked up and were gone no more than thirty minutes. When we returned $100 cash was stolen from my wallet located in my purse in the closet in my room. Someone had let themselves in and gone through our things in that short of a time. Another person staying with us also had $40 stolen at that same time. From then on we decided to put all money and valuables in the two safes provided.
Over the course of the week several employees would knock on the door and if no one answered in time would use their key to let themselves in!
By the end of our stay one bottle of prescription drugs, $140 dollars cash, 20 pesos, one newly purchased bandana, and one bottle of mascara was taken from our room. My suggestion is to lock up everything even your suitcase i found mine to be rummaged through more than one (i guess the little padlocks are good for something). Other than the theft the Esparanza was one of the most lovely places i have ever been. It is unfortunate theft was such a problem.
