“Grand Fiesta!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2013

Six wonderful days at this ultra immaculate, friendly, warm, and spacious resort made for a very pleasant vacation. Our Club Room on the 6th floor was spotless with a great view of the ocean and property. Comfy bed, huge modern shower with all classy amenities exceeded all our expectations with absolutely no issues. All staff members from bell captain, front desk, grounds crew, housekeeping, and Concierge greeted us at every opportunity with welcoming smiles and offered to make our stay the best possible. Plenty of pool chairs and space with constant attentive service on the beach too. Guess we were lucky that construction of the new wing was on hold, so we had no noise problems during our stay. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an upscale, fun, cool, and well kept facility.

Room Tip: Go with a Club Level room as mentioned many times for this property. Complimentary breakfast, snacks...

Stayed here for 4 nights, I had purchased this hotel on DealChicken it was such and amazing deal I was kind of skeptical. But, the deal was way too good not to buy. What a wonderful surprise this turned out to be. The staff, all extremely helpful and pleasant. The room very clean and comfortable. The grounds were so amazing and well kept. The pools - wonderful and so many of them. The location is very good, not too far from town, about 15 minutes. They do have a shuttle but, we were 4 people so was cheaper to get a taxi and split it 4 ways. I did visit the spa for a massage which is very nice. But, if you are looking for firm deep tissue (like me) probably not for you. The one complaint would be the food. Had our breakfasts and 2 lunches - meals were rather a let down.
Other than the meals I loved the resort and would most definitely stay here again.

The hotel was awesome. The staff was amazing and the food was stellar.

The best spa treatment ever. The hotel also offered great prices for activities outside the hotel.

Cant even begin to explain the spa services- out of this world.

Pros: pool, service, food.

Cons: the beach is nice but not swimmable; an issue at most cabo hotels.

I will be returning.

Room Tip: Ocean front recommended.

I booked a last minute deal with Expedia.ca because it had the lowest price at the last minute for airfare and hotel. I did not choose the all in inclusive option but wished I had. The morning buffet breakfast was $29.00usd but had cuisine from Mexico and a regular North American fare. I always love the green Cactus juice it is good for arthritis and cannot resist the Cilaquilas. The resort was amazing the service 5 star quality. This resort had waiters everywhere including the beach. This location has a private beach which is rare for this region. The resort has Kingsized canopy beds right on the beach to book for a romantic dinner and nap. In the evening a gas fed giant charcoal firepit blazes warmth into the night. I was pleased for the first 3 nights to be able to see live jazz artists perform by the fire. This resort caters to special groups and rearranges special furniture on the beach for special events or uses creative settings around the pool areas to entertain. This resort also has on site daycare for those busy parents who need to go golfing. However, the pricing of the menus in the evening s are not for families on budgets. For example a Pasta dish cost about $24.00. I ran out of sunblock and purchased a regular size bottle for $33.00 that was something I will never forget to bring as I am always on a budget. I was offered a tour of the time share portion of this resort and was amazed at the majestic view that these condos had. The time share portion isbuilt onto the rocky cliff facing the ocean. I was given a $200 credit for taking the tour which I used in the Spa. I totally recommend this resort for those working professionals who make more than $100, 000 per year. I recommend possibly for a lavish trip for a strict budgeting family to purchase the all inclusive deal

I feel rested and restored my energy after staying here.

We very much enjoyed our weekend at this resort. Daniela at check is was very helpful and our room was wonderful and always clean. We tried the Italian restaurant and the services was very accommodating and the food was great.

The second night we chose the restaurant by the beach and had a minor issue with the time it took at arrival. We notified the manager and all was resolved smoothly by Oskar. Our meal was delicious, we recommend the chateaubriand. At the end of the dinner our team surprised us with a beach fire for two complete with candles and dessert. It was very special.

We would certainly stay at this hotel again.

My experience at Fiesta Americana was marked by highs and lows. I'm writing this from the comfort of my Grand Club Master Suite -- a great room but also about $500USD / night. However, I'm on my honeymoon and should be out enjoying the beach or pool rather than writing a review. This is how annoyed I am.

Highs.
The Grand Club section is very nice -- suites are beautiful, views of the sea are amazing, and the clubhouse offers nice appetizers, drinks, and breakfast.
Staff are very friendly and a few of the staff really go above and beyond -- props to Gil and Rossy in the Grand Club.
The pool area is beautiful, not overcrowded (in early April) but not empty.
Love that they serve wine from Valle de Guadalupe.
The atmosphere at the spa is great and my manicure was excellent.
Peninsula Restaurant is good -- good food and good service. Great views.
Crispy Chicken Tacos on the late night room service menu were great and the service was excellent.

Lows.
Crowd is not social. Bring books, music, booze, whatever you need to entertain yourself. Buying beer in town is essential.
Transportation is a pain. Taxi to town is $20 each way. Hotel shuttle is available during very limited hours for $20 roundtrip. You may find a shuttle from the airport to the hotel for around $16/person but you will not find a way back to the airport for less than a $55 taxi ride. All is blamed on the private taxi association.
I sat through a time share presentation for a discounted 8 hr fishing trip. However, the hotel shuttle doesn't run early enough to accommodate and I later found out that the trip didn't include a boxed lunch (that you purchase on board), bait, or fishing license. So, my nearly free trip turned into an additional $150 min for the day.
All bars and restaurants close at 11pm and there is literally nothing to do after. Head to a jacuzzi and you'll be asked to leave for maintenance, seemingly right around 11pm despite them being open 24 hrs a day.
The Rosato restaurant -- they make it seem exclusive by requiring a reservation but the service is terrible and food is less than mediocre for relatively high end prices. We ate appetizers, were completely dissatisfied by the service and food, so we left without continuing the meal.
The exchange rate is ridiculous. Use plastic. They convert charges from pesos to dollars at one rate and they exchange when you pay your bill at another rate. Current rates ($12.07MP:$1USD) mean this -- if you go to the spa, you are charged services at a $12.1 MP : $1 USD rate. Then, they don't accept dollars. So, you put the charge on your room. If you later try to pay your bill for this or any other services, they convert the dollars that you use to pay at a $11.3 MP : $1USD rate. So, on basically every transaction, you lose almost a peso per dollar. It may not seem like much but it adds up. Additionally, you cannot break large USD bills for smaller to get the best rates. For example, the shuttle to town costs $240MP or $20USD. Here's an actual fair exchange rate if you are using USD. However, the driver is not likely to have change in hopes of getting the difference in the form of a tip. And, the hotel will not break your $100 to give you $20s. It's against their policy. So, you can then change your $100 into pesos at the $11.3 rate and lose out on the one good exchange rate available.
While my spa experience was mostly positive, my pedicure was very sloppy. I didn't realize right way because I was relaxed and happy.. but it's not worthwhile.
Service overall is a downer. While everyone is very friendly and attentive to the basics of their job, very few people seem to have the authority to do anything extra and all service seems superficial at best. After all of the small issues finally added up to annoying me to the point of wanting to complain, a manager was there but not available. He eventually heard my complaints, was even empathetic, but blamed corporate. This is not good service but is what seems to be the norm here. Blame the taxis. Blame corporate. Don't take responsibility. Just sell time shares.

Room Tip: Grand Club is great.
