“Remote location - great hotel choice for the area”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

I spent 4 nights here in May while staying with a friend who was there for a conference. The hotel was not crowded at all so the service from the staff was very good - there was never a wait for service at the pool, front desk, or restaurants. The food quality at the 3 restaurants was also very good - nice variety and prices were reasonable. We mainly stayed in the Club pool area and there was always ample chairs and towels. Rooms are spacious with nice balconies. The property is large depending on where you stay but the walk for us was never bad. The only complaint I have was that the servers in the restaurant hover over you and clear the table the second they think that you've finished eating. (Maybe because of the birds around the dining area?) We constantly felt rushed and interrupted during each meal. Other than that it was a great place to stay!

Our airline caused our reservation to include a night we did not stay. We did not realize this and tried to work it out w. the hotel mgr(Jose). At first he assumed that i did not speak spanish and said in a derogatory fashion that it was too bad and that it was our fault that we did not take care of our reservation(said this to the front desk clerk). That started an argument at the front desk that was not neccessary. We had an issue w. something that was outside our control. If the manager was thinking long term, he would have realized that reversing the charge for the one night we were unable to stay was in your organizations best interest. Not only was he unresponsive and rude; I had to ask for him to come back out to discuss. I work for a large corporation that does a lot of business world wide w. your organization, and I will post this on our travel blog. We were attending and participating in a wedding as well and it really caused some bad feelings in our whole group. The manager is extremely short sighted. The big picture is that we will never stay w. your org again and neither will our group or others that I work with. Other issues that we incurred when we got there:
1. I am handicapped and cannot walk long distances, and called ahead and told the hotel a month in advance of my issue. Your front desk person promised that i would be near an elevator and that i would not have to walk very far. This was not true--my room was at least a 10 minute walk every day, and caused me great pain. This is not right!
2. The first night we stayed there at 6am in the morning outside our window there was construction going on that we could not sleep through. So, we got very little rest.

3. The Aircondition was broken; we could not turn it off. Our room was too cold and really caused me problems breathing/sleeping.
4. We had dinner one night while we were there and the waiters could not get the orders right and the service was terrible. We had part of our group that had to wait 45 minutes longer than the rest to get their food even though we all ordered at the same time. Very strange. Food was not good. The sea bass was cooked and prepared poorly. Meal was expensive and not worth it. The restaurant mgr must be blind or not present.

Good notes:
1 Luis at the pool bar was great. He was friendly and quick w. his service. The nachos that i had at the pool bar were also very good.
2. The pools were awesome, and well laid out.
3. The view was beautiful.
4. The fire pit and band there was great.

So, there was some good in our stay, but overall, it left a bad taste in my mouth, as I do not like the way we were treated by the manager. It is very important for a manager to be able to see the big picture when he/she does something that is negative to a patron. The beginning of the trip really set the tone for the overall stay.

Room Tip: Try to make sure they put you close to the main blding. Rooms were small, but adequate.

Fantastic week at this wonderful resort in the gated community of Del Sol. All rooms have some sort of ocean view - the upper floors may have palm trees blocking a portion while the first floors have some unobstructed views. This resort is sprawling so if walking and steps is an issue, request the bottom floor for easy access to the pools and ocean. The staff are awesome, room service is twice a day with robes, slippers, bottles of water and chocolates in the evening. Service was wonderful and the employees are very gracious. We take lots of $1 bills and tipped generously; not only the maids, waiters, bars and valet but also the employees sweeping the halls, cutting the cactus, scrubbing the pools, raking the sand, etc. The resort is spotless and everyone very, very friendly. We will definitely return - we love it!

Room Tip: All rooms have a view of the ocean - go and don't fret where you end up. They are all great.

Had a very relaxing Holiday.
The tequila bar in the swim up pool is amazing! I think we tried everyone.
Had a great fishing trip.
The golf was amazing, over looking the ocean. First rate!
Loved every minute of our stay!

Most hotels can talk the talk and VERY few, like Fiesta Americana, knows how to walk the walk. Outstanding service and facilities. There are no souvenir shops for miles and the beach feels very secluded. Looking forward to our next trip.

Overall, the Fiesta Americana was a terrific resort to spend a holiday. The Staff is superlative, the grounds and pool are aesthetically pleasing, and the spa is very nice. This is a nice relaxing vaca with loads of other activities 15 mins away in the town of Cabo itself. You will leave extremely satisfied and rejuvenated.

Staff
Everyone is super-friendly all the time. From the front desk, to the concierge, to the bartenders and housekeeping, everyone is nice, friendly, and helpful. They all say hi and always inquire to help. Of course, we are New Yorkers, so we respect the power of the gratuity, so we took care of everyone that took care of us….doesn’t have to be an excessive amount, the gesture goes a long way.

On a side note, on one particular day, my gf and I somehow forgot to lock the in-room safe. When we came back to the room, there was a note that the safe had been locked for us, and to call the hotel manager for the new combo. Everything was intact. Needless to say, we were grateful for the service.

Restaurants
Viña del Mar – Terrific restaurant. The daily breakfast buffet here is highly recommended. It has everything you could ask for for either breakfast or lunch…including all sorts of drinks, deserts, omelets, etc. We did this only on the last day, but had we known it was so good and so filling, we would have done it daily. I’d suggest doing this late in the morning like at 11am…then you probably wouldn’t need to eat again till dinner.
Peninsula – We had a breakfast here which was terrific (both Mexican and American fare). We also has a dinner here which was extremely good…considering it overlooks the ocean, the ambiance couldn’t be better. Also if you luck out and there is a wedding on the beach like we had, this makes for good entertainment.
Lobby Bar – There’s a daily happy hour at 6pm here. Good bar, nothing spectacular. Good sunset view of the beach and pools. BTW, two-for-one in Cabo pretty much everywhere means that you get both drinks at once…so if you and your partner are having the same thing, it makes sense to just order once…and then come back later for another drink if you want it.
Bikini Bar - Nice bar. Same swim-up bar you’ve been to pretty much everywhere. It does the trick.
Rosato - Really just NOT that good. I think this is pushed as their primo restaurant, but the food just isn’t worth the sticker price…it’s not worth half the sticker price. The pasta Bolognese we ordered tasted like it was out of a jar and the Osso Bucco lasagna was basically two sheets of pasta sandwiched around a pre-made Osso Bucco sauce. Very average at best. Even the Caprese salad we had was drowned in balsamic and not tasty. This restaurant was the only disappointment at the hotel. The concierge (Ricardo) that works here is very friendly, nice, and accommodating, but the food is just subpar.

Spa
The wine spa is terrific. We did a couples massage overlooking the beach, which included two tranquility massages that lasted 50 minutes. These all-body massages were very relaxing. Also, if you show up 45mins before your appointment, you can use the locker room facilities which include a sauna, steam room, hot tub, cold tub, showers, locker, grooming aids, etc. After the massage you are treated to a glass of wine while you relax with a neck warmer on a couch. Good times.

Grounds
Immaculate and beautiful. It’s all picturesque….all. A lot of effort is put into keeping everything pristine and beautiful, and it shows. Nothing else to say.

Pools
Terrific pools. We swam in 4 or 5 of them but spent most of our time at the pool near the bikini bar. There are basically a couple of infinity pools (one more for kids, one more for adults near the club area). All pools are pristine and nice. The pools are definitely very beautiful aspect of the hotel. There is also a nightly fire pit near the bikini bar pool which is just beautiful to take in after the sun goes down.

Helpful tips
If you choose to listen to a membership tour/presentation at the hotel, it will take up about 2 hours of your morning. You can decide if this is something you want to do. However, in turn for doing this, you can have a breakfast and a couples massage made complimentary, and also $50 off of a dinner at one of the restaurants. The FA presentation was not an overly pushy one. Do note however that at the conclusion, someone else will try to offer you yet another presentation at yet another Cabo resort for more complimentary activities or meals…

Coffee in the room will cost you $5 a pack. Do what we did and bring some pre-ground coffee from home along with some coffee filters and you can make coffee in the room yourself. Done and done.

The FA resort is located in the corridor between Cabo and San Jose…do yourself a favor and rent a car at the airport. The shuttle to and from the hotel alone for 2 people are about the cost of renting a car for a week. Also, you allow yourself the freedom of going into either town at your leisure. The valet parking at the hotel is free. Taxis into town on the other hand are $20 each way. We chose to use the taxis only at night when we knew we would be drinking. We saved a ton with the rental. Also, while the restaurants at the hotel are suitable, you will want to get better meals in Cabo at a fraction of the price…trust me.

Driving in that part of Mexico is very easy…same to what you probably do in any US city…just note that most exits from the main highway are jug-handle type exits (i.e. exit to the right to get to the left).
When we went into Cabo, we parked at the Puerto Paraiso mall for about $2 a day. If is located right next to the marina, in the heart of everything.

Many reviewers suggest getting some basics at Walmart or Costco on your inaugural trip to the hotel. In reality, Walmart and Costco are acutally 12-15 minutes PAST the hotel and are closer to the town of Cabo itself. Better yet, stop by the MEGA supermarket which is midway between the airport and the hotel (you can’t miss the giant sign). It is basically a Target/Whole Foods combo. You will find anything you need there en route to the hotel without having to drive past.

San Jose town is between the airport (15 mins) and the hotel (15 mins).
Cabo is 15 mins from the hotel in the other direction.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the pools...it will automatically face the beach. Get a higher floor if p...

What a gorgeous resort! The enormous grounds absolutely manicured to perfection. I was up for an early run and saw about a dozen staff raking, watering and straightening everything out for the day. Its a really well cared for resort. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We asked for a late checkout and it was extended until 3pm with no problems. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We had a rented car and were happy to find out that the valet parking was free.
The rooms very nice and spacious. Bathrooms very updated with marble and granite. Shower pleasant. The beds were comfy with high end bedding. Our room was joined with another room and separated with a locked door. The door must have been extremely thin, as we could hear the conversations and the TV programs from the adjoining room. I would say that was the only negative aspect of our whole stay.
At the time of our stay, the resort was pretty empty. Plenty of loungers available both by the pools (there are 3) and the beach. The staff was very quick to set you up with towels. Both pool areas and the beach were beautiful. Waiters were pretty quick to take drink orders by the pool, not sure if the same service was available on the beach. Overall, I liked the fact that everything was spotless clean. You could tell that the resort was very well cared for and maintained.
We had lunch at one of the restaurants on the beach. it wasn't overprice as expected and the food was very decent. The breakfast buffet offered every day was excellent! For about $25 pp there was a nice spread of all your favorite breakfast / brunch foods along with some Mexican dishes. Champagne and Bloody Marys were also included.
I checked out the gym and it was really nice for a hotel gym. It had a lot of really expensive equipment. There was however a $15 daily charge which I decided to skip. The gym was located in the spa, which looked gorgeous and seemed to offer lots of services. I did not partake so cannot speak on that subject.
The best part was that the resort was rather inexpensive! We received a small discount for staying there as part of a wedding, however it would have not made much of a difference. I would definitely stay here again as well as recommend this to my friends and family.
