“It is supposed to be hot-it is Mexico, get over it”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

Our family stayed in a 2 bedroom club condo (via Hilton Vacation Club) at the end of July-early August. Starting with our room- beautifully appointed, well air conditioned, comfortable and clean. Beautiful views from our balconies.

The rest of the resort was equally as beautiful. The common areas and restaurants are not air conditioned. Just the way it is. The restaurants were wonderful- we ate in all of them at least once. All very good. The Italian (extra beautiful modern décor), Sushi (what a view!) Steak House (great service), Mexican (shout out to William) and Thai (beach side) were all great for dinner, but in all honesty never had a bad meal. Our favorite place to eat was the Chevicheria which is pool and beach side, only open until 5pm. Delish food and exemplary service (looking at you Israel-you are amazing).

On the beach-Highly recommend renting a cabana if you can- very comfortable and takes the service to an extra high level. The staff at the beach is wonderful whether you have "parked" for the day under a Palapa (free) or in a Cabana (fee). Our favorite at the beach was yet another Israel- incredibly friendly, hard working and attentive. He was great with kids and adults alike.

My only negative comment is the pool situation. The resort has 6-7 chlorinated pools. All incredibly beautiful to look at, plenty of chairs and loungers, never seemed too crowded, seemed cleaned. Water, no matter what time of day, was WAY to hot. First, why not have 1 pool be a salt water pool? The resort should consider some type of cooling system (which we understand other resorts in the area had). 2 of the kids (all of which swim regularly) in our group (9 and 15) came down with ear infections not long after we arrived (on site medical attention was fabulous). Too much heat and bodies in those pools. Among the pools- the adult pool, with swim up bar, got a little crazy in the afternoon- people got drunk pretty early in the day-so we avoided it. The ocean is beautiful, rocky in most places, but a beautiful area rock free to the extreme right. Near the rocks you could readily see beautiful fish.

We had a wonderful stay. Staff was outstanding!

Checked in last week for my seven year anniversary and I was immediately impressed by the location of the hotel. But that first impression unfortunately, faded rather quickly. I will list some pros and cons beginning with the good:
Pros- excellent views, swim-up bar is kinda cool (although only about 5 bar stools), the burger place was amazing (that was our go-to for lunch)

Cons- no a/c anywhere outside your room to include dining rooms, no USD ATM although the transportation staff only wants dollars, no room service menu, welcome packet was entirely in Spanish, useful information seemingly was never given up front, dinner service was hit or miss: wait times, speed of service, quality of food etc., bar service not very good, no ice anywhere for your drinks, warm mugs make for warm beer, dress code for dinner at a POOLSIDE outdoor patio (i had on shorts and a tank and was turned away for not having sleeves, while the entire restaurant had to look at half naked people at the pool and listen to the drunken adults at the pool bar), the beach was not swim-able on account of the huge rocks, and finally there were no complimentary shuttles whatsoever.

Room Tip: Stay as close to the lobby building as you can. This is a big resort, and if you're on the end o...

Thank you for writing your review.
In Fiesta Americana Grand los Cabos we constantly strive to deliver best quality service to our guests.
As you said, we are very proud to have a breathtaking view; our hotel is very well known as one of the most beautiful resorts in Los Cabos. Unfortunately, we have had some issues with our air conditioning system; fortunately we have just received the new equipment and installation will be completed in the next few days.
It is very important to know our guests impression, inviting you to share any feedback or suggestions with me while on property. It is always my pleasure to attend you personally.
Our beach has two safe zones for swimming while ocean conditions are optimum and our Lifeguards can be consulted before you head out to swim.
Shuttle service is available through our Taxi rank at the hotel and only costs $10 USD round per person to San Lucas.
I will make sure to share your comments with my Executive Committee in order for us to analyze your experience and come up with new ideas to continue to deliver great quality service.
Best regards,

It was the 4th time we have been here is about as many years and I'm afraid it's going downhill. Their change to all inclusive and addition of so many restaurants has left them short staffed in many areas. Room staff are slow to clean common areas. Beach staff ignore you. Spa staff seem uninterested. The wifi did not work the entire time. There were no clean pool towels EVER. We will be trying out a new location next time.

Pros: good service (best pool service of any resort), beautiful resort, reasonable food

Cons: No air conditioning in the lobby or any of the restaurants; you sweat, the waiters sweat, everyone sweats, plus flies are everywhere. How can a high end resort have no air conditioning in the common areas? The in room ac was extremely loud, giving the feeling you are still on the airplane.

If it wasn’t for the AC issue, I would have given this resort a 4, but the AC is a big issue. It really takes the luxury out of your vacation when there’s no place to beat the heat except your room.

Thank you for your comments. In Fiesta Americana Grand los Cabos we constantly strive to deliver great quality service.
Our pool staff and Executive Chef will be pleased to know that you enjoyed their service and quality meals.
Unfortunately we have had some issues with our main chillers and we are currently waiting for the new chillers to arrive in the few days.
It is a pity that this situation, has affected what was, as you said, an otherwise a four stars experience.
It would be our pleasure to have you back in our beautiful hotel in the future.

Checked in on 9/8. I expected a 3* however this is fantastic. My kids room had no AC the first night however the staff worked 8 hours and corrected the problem. We are a well traveled family with 15 year-old twins mostly to the Caribbean however this is great.

Pros: Food & Staff!

Cons: No AC in the restaurants which is a problem and no night life.

Overall, I'd return!

Bring $5.00 bills for a tip. Here and there. Much appreciated.

This was our first all-inclusive stay in Mexico and were very delighted with the Fiesta Americana. We were welcomed and served a beverage immediately upon checking in (which I'd read previously someone mentioned in their review that this was not done, so it was nice to see they are actually reading reviews and taking client suggestions). After a 5 hour flight from hectic fast-paced city (NYC), it was very refreshing to see all of the smiles and friendly courteous service. Our room was nice and cool upon entry. We were centrally located to everything available so minimal walking to restaurants and down to the pools and ocean. The pools become quite crowded by 10am so it can be difficult to find seats for 2 or more after that time. Thankfully, the wait staff make up the difference by aiding in finding you seating, requesting staff get you an umbrella for shade, and being very kind and friendly. Upon the end of our stay, some had even memorized our room number for reference when ordering. (We will miss you Israel and Roberto!) Benjamin worked the towel area near the main pool and was always seen with a smile. He walked with us as we headed back to our room and pointed out a bird's nest in a palm tree and some geckos on the wall of the Grand Club suites. The food at all restaurants was delicious and well portioned for multiple course meals. The coffee bar was quite large and offered some really delicious frappucinos and pastries. The ocean was our favorite place to hang out, as most people flocked to the pool areas so it left the beach front seating available to others all day. Beach drink service was fantastic as well. Firepit entertainment was a really lovely way to enjoy the sunsets and evenings. La Bodega was our favorite restaurant. Food grilled to perfection and staff was all amazing. At the Rosato, they too were amazing, recognizing we were celebrating a birthday that evening and bringing out a special dessert.

Negatives: The sign for the hotel is so small and located on a side wall, that when we arrived we had no idea it was our hotel until our shuttle driver announced it and even then we looked around to only catch the sign in the corner to the left just outside of the entrance.

It seemed the longer your stay, the less general hotel service courtesy was offered. the beginning of our stay we were often in our room around cleaning time so we opted a day or two in a row not to have service. Afterwards, we found our room wasn't cleaned in the a.m. and no turndown service either on the same day. But as a plus, we did call to have done and it was done immediately.

The only true disappointment was after we checked in and had our drink handed to us, we were met by a woman with a binder who told us we could leave our bags aside and follow her (which in a foreign country, leaving your bags in an unknown lobby doesn't sit well). We assumed it was to tour the facility, but we were incorrect. Regina sat us down to show us the many tours and activities available. Which we thought was the end, but then she followed up with asking if we were planning any in particular, and then offered a discount on all of the potential options IF we did the breakfast meeting for the 'vacation club'. Having never been to the hotel and to an all-inclusive, and not wanting to be on a schedule, we opted not to go - and her discounting offers continued. There was a lot of contradictory information provided by her that left me uneasy. We were told she doesn't sell anything, but then leading us down a road to by something. We were told she can just tell us about who to contact for the tours etc. but it became obvious what she was really there for. And after a 5 hour flight, it just felt inappropriate and I could see a lot of people being upset by the approach. As we considered, she said she would step away and allow us a moment to decide (after nearly telling us we were going and just asking what time we preferred) upon finalizing our decision, she was already walking away before we offered her our reasoning - which, in sales, if someone is willing to offer you a reason - you listen, so that you can learn to work that reason to your advantage. But since she knew we were saying No, she was literally on her way to the next couple checking in. And we were told the Vacation Club information was only available to offer at the beginning of the stay so there was no potential to later - after having actually seen what the place had to offer - to sign up or even get a pamphlet. We think this option could be served better in the middle of a stay or even at the end. Because after having experienced a stay there, we WOULD actually consider the Vacation Club - if we knew what it was.

We did see some people throughout our stay being taken on what appeared to be a tour of the facility. We would have loved this upon arrival or even partway during our stay just to ensure we were seeing everything available to us.

Some areas or options were only available to certain people, and there wasn't a clear indicator, or offering of why. Cabana beds on the beach with chairs in front were for other people. Not us. There was the occasional ignore for service (sushi skybar) as 2-3 other tables were served but us so we left. Some buffet areas were not offered at the sit down restaurants for us (Peninsula at lunch)

Overall, none of the negatives listed deterred from how wonderful our stay was. The first element with the Vacation Club rep could've left us sour but that view of the ocean, and the amenities make you forget all about that. The food was fantastic and the service from the staff we met was really wonderful. We'll definitely be returning.

Room Tip: the 3rd floor rooms off to the right of El Mexicano are great for view and proximity to everything

We went to visit FA a second time in June 2014. It had been 3 years since we stayed here for part of our honeymoon, July 2011. This time we stayed and it was All-inclusive. I was a bit apprehensive, but was thoroughly impressed. The restaurants were tasty and we could order whatever we wanted.

We were only here for a mini beach vacation and stayed 3 nights. It was just what we were looking for!! We stayed in the beach the whole time!! Israel Castillo was our waiter on the beach, one word AMAZING!!! He remembered us (and our drink orders) everyday and greeted us with a friendly smile. He was VERY helpful, attentive and still gave us privacy. He is part of the reason I was able to convince my husband to stay at the beach all day!!! Thank you Israel, you made our trip memorable. Fiesta American, you have a great employee, great him right!

We did the time share presentation and think it was very professional. It included a bunch of gifts (massage, car rental, night beach cabana). We almost bought it, but with sites like Living Social, and Priceline you can always find a last minute deal.

Thanks FA see you in another 3 years!!

Room Tip: Get any room, and spend your time on the beach!!! They have tons of beach relaxation areas with caba...
