We took a glass bottom boat from Medano Beach to Pelican Rock. We prepaid for snorkeling gear at Bonito Tours and picked it up once we got to Pelican Rock. We got to go out to the arch and see Lover's Beach, the sea lions and then we went around the other side of the arch to see Divorce Beach. As we rounded the arch I was worried about the bigger waves and our small boat but it was fine. Then they dropped us off at Pelican Rock and arranged a time to pick us back up. We spent two hours snorkeling and I was very thrilled with the amount of fish we saw. Waters were fairly calm and we enjoyed the snorkeling. Our boat picked us up exactly at our scheduled time and dropped us back off at Medano Beach.

We tagged along with a friend's scuba outing and they agreed to drop us on pelican beach for a few hours until the scuba was done. Has nice long shallow section for kids to play in, then drops off at the rock, where there is fantastic snorkeling. My 9-year-old and I (strong swimmers) hung out for a few hours with snorkel gear and some granola bars, had a great time.

We rented a kayak from Medano Beach (bartered our way to $30/3 hours for a double). Love the Mexican way of life-- no lessons, warnings, forms to sign for the kayak other than "Try not to get too close to the Arch." We had our own snorkel gear so stopped along Pelican Rock and it was awesome snorkeling. The actual Pelican Rock jets surprisingly deep and there were tons of fish, and a great variety. A snorkel boat was there so a few people were around but not too bad. One guy was feeding the fish bread. It's really easy to beach the kayak here, too.

The water at pelican rock in the month of August is quite choppy and a little cool. Snorkeling activity is available, but make sure to bring fish food. Some brave locals dive/jump from the rock for thrills. It looks a little dangerous because of the jagged rocks. If you are a medium thrill seeker make sure to bring a good pair of water shoes for grip for this type of activity.

We signed up for a boat trip with Maria Bonita Adventures (look it up they were awesome) - for $10 + tip we got a glass bottom boat trip to the Arc & rocks and we were then dropped off at pelican rock/beach for how ever long we wanted - we opted for 2.5 hours. The snorkeling was great and there was a lot to explore. Of course the pelicans that sit on the rocks are fun to watch. I will add that you need to take some singles to tip the guys who help you on and off the boats - they also sell beer/drinks for about $4. Great day, will go back!
