Back for the 5th year where we stay now for a month in our timeshares. We are 20 year time share veterans and were not going to continue until we found the Hacienda. This is one of the most upscale, but not overly expensive timeshare we have found. If there is any drawback it is that we are in the middle of the Costa del Sol and need transport on the one night a week we go out to eat. Cars are expensive to rent so we taxi to one of our favorite restaurants in San Jose or Cabo. Other than that, we love the condos, the responsive staff, the magnificent grounds, the pools, the ability to walk for an hour a day around the grounds and courses, the whales and the wonderful sun. The Hacienda Vacation Club and Sheraton del Mar are on the same grounds. When we go back in March, we will spend one night in the hotel at our special rate. From all I have seen it is a very classy place.

The time share property was very good-We had only one problem and that was unresolved. We had the air conditioning not working--

With the exception of that things were very good the the location is right in between the two major towns--

The beach and pool areas are very nice--The fusion restaurant is also very nice--Tomato's for dinner is only fair--good for a breakfast buffet

The beach is beautiful, the grounds, pools are lovely. The weather was perfect. We had the 2 bedroom "Presidential suite" was fine, but nothing great. The beds are very comfortable and there is daily maid service. Food was very expensive, massages $110, internet $28 daily, $4 for 800 #'s. EVERYONE tries to sell you a timeshare, the greeter at the hotel, Alamo car rental, people who work at the restaurants, etc, If you fall for the" 90 minute" presentation, you will waste a minimum of 3 hours of your time, for your $200 in food certificates, and discounts on activities, then the person who gives them to you tries to get you to go on a another timeshare presentation!
We asked for a coffee pot several times but only got one 24 hours later when our sweet maid Yolanda got it for us.
We did see whales from the resort but they were little specs on the horizon. Saw lots of jumping sting rays, which are fun to watch.
The town of Cabo is not for us, you are bugged constantly by taxi drivers, jewelry sales people (who put the bracelets you don't want on your wrist,) fishing trips, and of course timeshares! We found San Jose to be a much better choice. Also took a 90 minute trip To Todos Santos on a 2 lane highway that was a bit frightening. It is a quaint little town, Hotel California, made famous by the Eagles is there. Liked the town but not the drive! We went on the Caborey dinner cruise, which had great entertainment, open bar, and decent food, a surprise at the end was gratuity bill $55 for the four of us.
We had prepaid for the tickets, so the extra charge was not expected. We didn't really mind, but think we should have been told.
We had a very good time, but would not go back

We just returned from a week's stay at HDM. Our 21-year-old daughter arrived first with her friends. We arrived 4 hours later in the evening. We had some concerns about her checking into the timeshare unit before us so I emailed the hotel, and they responded that they noted it. When we arrived we found they put us into adjoining rooms. I was not so thrilled with our one-bedroom at first because it smelled musty and seemed old. It was fine once we turned on the AC and opened the sliders. After viewing some of the other units on the property, we learned we were in the oldest building. I am sure if we made a request to change, they would have accommodated us, but the girls were already settled into their room. In the end it was a very pleasant stay. The pools and the beach are equally outstanding. In fact we have never been to a more beautiful beach location. It was strange to have the place to our own. No one needed to rush down to reserve chairs, although one of the owners said not an empty chair could be found the week before. The all-you-can-eat off the menu breakfast at Girasoles is now $17.99, still a good value in expensive Cabos. Pitahayas is an excellent restaurant on the premises. We loved the Seafood Trilogy and the Creme Brulee Sampler. This very upscale meal was cheaper than dining at Nick-San. We're sushi addicts so we had to go there twice for the best sushi rolls anywhere. The one tip I would offer is to rent a car before your trip even if it's for 24 hours so you can shop for groceries. We shopped at the Mega Store, Walmart and Costco and preferred Walmart. Our full size rental costs $80 a day. The taxi ride one way from the airport to HDM was $75. The trip one way to Cabos San Lucas was $20. We ended up renting a car from the hotel, and it gave us freedom to explore. We enjoyed a daytrip to Todos Santos and had a great lunch at Cafe Sante Fe. If you don't like to drive on a one-lane narrow winding road, take a bus tour instead. The people at HDM are very friendly and trusting. The atmosphere is very laid back especially compared to the Grand Mayan in Nuevo Vallarte, where we were nearly finger printed at check-in and issued a card to sign out for our towels. Several times we shopped at HDM and didn't have cash with us. They allow ed us to take our purchases to our room and return with the cash. Where else can you do that?

What an amazing resort!

My wife and I travel a lot and we both agree, this is one of the nicest, most well run resorts that we have been to.

Our room was spacious and had a huge deck - great for sipping morning coffee and looking at the view.

The service was excellent. There was always someone there to help. I think there must have been at least one resort employee for every guest.

Food was great. We never had a bad meal.

The resort is huge, with pools everywhere. The grounds are very well maintained.

One negative is the pesky timeshare salespeople. Everybody is on the take, from the hawkers at the airport, to the cab driver, the guy at the check-in counter and the guy that carried our bags to our room. But, after the first day, they left us alone.

Food and drink prices at the hotel are very expensive, but we got around that by stopping at Mega on the way to the resort (we tipped our cab driver an extra $20.00) and buying breakfast and lunch supplies, plus a weeks worth of beer and wine. We ate all of our breakfasts and most lunches in the room and carried cold beers to the pool and beach in a small ice chest that we brought along. We easily saved $1000.00 this way.

The taxi ride from the airport is expensive too. $75.00. But, there is a shuttle to the hotel for $14.00 per person. The down side is that it stops at other resorts. We took a cab so that we could buy groceries.

We rented a car the day before we departed and took a road trip to San Jose and Los Barrillos. We then drove ourselves to the airport on departure day. The car rental was about what we would have spent on a taxi, but we got some extra sight seeing in as a bonus.

The hotel has a shuttle into Cabo (about 20 minutes away) so you can go into town and explore. We recommend the Waboritas at Cabo Wabo. Yummy!

We liked the fact that the resort is a ways from town. It was much quieter and peaceful that way. Downtown Cabo is pretty hectic - especially when cruise ships are in port. There were 3 in the bay one day, which made it difficult to get a seat in some of the more popular restaurants.

Overall, a great resort. We will go back!

We stayed at HDM from 12/8 - 12/15 and it was such a wonderful vacation. I went down with 2 girlfriends and we were not disappointed at all. Our room was wonderful and we had a nice view of the ocean. It was amazing how quiet the grounds were when you would be sitting on the balcony. The pools were amazing and Guillermo and Alejandro were fantastic pool concierges. They will book you any reservation (food or spa) and always remembered our names.

We stayed Mon - Mon and the pools were so quiet Mon-Wed and it started to get a little more crowded on Thurs. We never had problems finding chairs by the pool. Make sure to ask b/c there are 2 for 1 drink specials all day long at the pool right in front of the Sheraton lobby. One day it was Lava Floats, the next day it was a Blue Lagoon. And, they will bring you out a bucket of ice to keep your drinks chilled for you. We ate lunch by the pool on several occasions as well and it was great. Also, as said by many previous people, there are 2 for 1 happy hour at different pools almost all day long.

All of the food was delicious. We seemed to always have leftovers from our dinners at Tomatoes and Girasoles so it was nice to have for lunch the next day.

The on-site store has all of the necessities you will need and the price is not too terrible (at least it wasn't for the few things we bought there).

When taking a taxi from the airport, make sure to use Josephine's company - they seem to be the best. It cost $15 pperson one way.

I had a massage at the spa and it was wonderful. The exercise room is great too.

I would HIGHLY recommend this to everyone and can't wait to go again.

Yes, we saw whales too as did the previous post-er. We would sit by the pool and just watch them jump out of the ocean...amazing!

We just got back from a week at the hacienda del mar vacation club.We had a fabulous time. The grounds are impeccable as is the service. The pools are awesome .We saw whales in the ocean from the balconies of the pools.Even though it is too far to walk to the road to take the bus(1 mile or so) they do provide transportation into cabo for $10 per person roundtrip. They leave at 9am and every 1 1/2 hrs from there The last pickup from the mall is 9:30pm.Cabo is very fun and lots to do there with the marina shops and restaurants as well as the flea markets.Silver is cheap there and lots of jewelry Beach vendors usually carry the same stuff so can get it cheaper-the more you buy.We had a 1 bedroom. They have the room in the back and was disappointed that we didn't have a deck from there as it was on the hallway side so if you want that get a studio or 2 bedroom. There are 2 bathrooms which was nice and a hot tub jacuzzi on the balcony. The units are older but clean.Small fridge and counter.Didn't spend much time there anyway. We got a larger than normal balcony which had 2 lounge chairs but all are not like thatWe were in 3614 above the koi pond.We loved it and look forward to going back We used rci exchange. We never had trouble getting a chair either.
