Unbelievable hotel..staff want to cater to your every whim..pools are fantastic a pool for music and games through tout the day a endless pool and if you would enjoy relaxation there's another one same huge length a 2 min walk to the other side..Buffet is unreal I would have to say the best selection of food and most carving designs of fruits or ice sculptures..Weather is remarkable..Only downfall beach sand is brown can't swim out front waves are to strong.Go down a little and you can however the two pools make up for it. Downtown is 5-10 min by boat, bus or taxi..Real Mexico I find.If you like clean I was extremely impressed in Los cabos...Whale season is fantastic..Riu palace is a hidden gem..Never seen so may cruise ships pull in..Must be something perhaps the Movie Stars paridise also..Gotta give it a go..you will be back..I have

Room Tip: Facing the water is nice save money face the enormous ponds in the middle

My wife and I travelled to the Riu Palace July 14 - 21 2014 for our annual summer trip. The hotel was recommended by a few friends who have stayed there. Here are the positives of the hotel, the room was clean and the staff were really nice. We stayed in an ocean view junior suite. The view was good but to be honest it was very small compared to other 5* suites, and as for the view it was very nice but I think you would have this view from most rooms. I would recommend to anyone not to waste the money on both the junior suite or the ocean view room, not worth the extra $$$. The food was average but I have had much better at other 5* resorts. Now for the negative. if you like to swim in the ocean don't go to Cabo. The ocean was really rough so we did not chance going in the water. (we knew this before we booked our trip) We spent our days in the pool which by 1:00 pm it was so warm it was not refreshing, it was like a big dirty bathtub. The drinks were disgusting, the management team really need to either hire some real bartenders or teach the staff how to make drinks. We tried just about everything and all were the same, so sweet or so bad I don't think we finished one drink. Even the tequila was terrible, you'd think in Mexico you would get good tequila but no they served the cheapest you couldn't even drink it. In hind sight, we should have made a trip to the local Wal-Mart or Costco and bought our own alcohol. I don't think we will go to Cabo again, the Mayan or Puerto Vallarta is much better and weI would stay at a Dreams or Barceló before ever staying at a Riu again. Overall I would rate this resort a 3 1/2 * at the best not a 5*

Room Tip: Don't waste your money on a junior suite or a ocean view room.

We stayed at the Hotel Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas from August 14- 21 with an Oceanfront room. This was the first RIU we ever stayed at and would come back again!

ROOM: Air conditioned rooms were stocked, clean, and cool. The view from our oceanfront view junior suite was great because you could see the pool, the ocean and the rock formation Los Cabo is known for from our balcony. The furniture is a bit outdated in the rooms. Washroom was clean but the shower stall had rust in it. The couch in the living space was musty as well.

FOOD: The food was delicious at the RIU. We and enjoyed the buffets at both breakfast and dinner. The Italian Restaurant was the BEST for lunch, we went there everyday, all the food selections were amazing. The Steakhouse was nice, but outdoors at night the mosquitos got the best of us and our food was BBQ to a crisp. The French Fusion dinner was TOO fancy for us, we didn't know most of the food on the menu and was only okay. The Japanese for dinner was the BEST restaurant, the room is air conditioned and food was very fresh. The only down side is there is no place to eat from 11:00-12:00, most of the buffets are getting ready for lunch between this time and if you sleep in, there no real place to eat except room service that too about 30-40 mins to arrive. TIP: Don't forget to go to the buffet for Mexican night, they serve the MOST elaborate and fresh food I've ever experienced, the highlight of our vacation!!

Drinks: Premium bar selections, a lot of drinks had way too much sugar in them but we recommend a drink we learned called Palloma, very refreshing! Bar tenders are fun and entertaining at night.

Entertainment: Every night is something new which we liked. They put on great shows and the host was very interactive.

Activities: We did several excursions. We took a taxi to the marina and mall area, was only $14 USD and very safe and nice area to go to on a sunny day for shopping and eating out. We also did the horseback riding and ATV tour combo. This is a great price for two activities $70 for both activities. Great experience and a lot of fun! We also took a water taxi and swam in pelican beach. TIP if you take a taxi to the marina you can find cheaper taxi that will go to the beaches and boat tour around Land's end and lovers beach. The lovers beach and boat road are a MUST do, as Los Cabo is known for it and wonderful experience,.

Overall we had a great time. The service was good and food was great, and we enjoyed our honeymoon at the RIU Palace, we would come again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Riu. The hotel was very clean, the staff were constantly cleaning. The evening shows were pretty good as well- we really enjoyed the Michael Jackson show and the Grease show as well. We loved the quiet pool and the swim up bar and wish we would have spent more time in the pools. The buffets were okay. Our favorite specialty restaurant was the Japanese restaurant. Make sure to make reservations for specialty restaurants the day you arrive, or else you may not get reservations. We did this the first day and ate at all three specialty restaurants. The weekend was booked so our last few nights we were unable to make reservations in the specialty restaurants. Also- this hotel offers professional photo shoots on the beach. After the photo shoot you get to choose favorite pictures at $15 each. The photographer will then put them on a disk for you. The photographer we had was very friendly and made us feel very comfortable. Staff could have been more friendly, but given how busy this hotel was we understood. After you arrive at the San Jose Airport do not stop to talk to the people set up at long counter to right before exiting airport. They are tying to get you to pay for a timeshare presentation. These employees are really good at what they do- be forewarned- the presentation ends up being about 4 hours long. Not how you want to spend your days in Cabo. They will tell you it will only take an hour/hour and a half- don't believe them- this is not the case.

I visited the RIU Palace in Cabo in April 2014 with me and a group of my friends. We have all done All Inclusives before and were ready for the flood of tourist action we had signed up for.

Quick review: When you book at the RIU Palace you get full access to the RIU Sante Fe next door.
If youre 18 and looking for dirty cheap fun, stay the the Sante Fe, if you an adult, family etc stay at the the Palace.

Overall the rooms are nice, basic, they have everything you need, and the bathrooms are actually really nice! And up to date. All rooms come with liquor dispensers so thats awsome!! The food like any resort, is OK, Its not bad but by no means is it the greatest, the buffet by the pool during the day is my favorite, lots of seafood. But the regular breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet indoors is also good, but like any All inclusive prepare to get the same food everyday for your entire stay with a tiny bit of variety. It gets tiresome.

Over all the hotel in itself is BEAUTIFUL, the grounds are soo well kept, room service is amazing and the front desk guys are awesome. Don't get tied into any of the excursions they offer, just go down to the beach and get any of the guys down their to find you a tour for half the price.

Lovers beach is a 5$ boat ride away, this hotel is super close to the city and all the clubs. Location is really good. You can walk down the beach straight to the ME Hotel and their sweet day club. Sante Fe right next door has a banging dirty club in it which you will be able to get into and have all inclusive drinks to as well. The restaurants are OK. The best one is actually the Sushi Restaurant that you don't even need reservations for, had I known this place was so good I seriously would have eaten every dinner their. The Mexican restaurant is not good, which is surprising yeah?

This is the best All Inclusive i have stayed at so far. But I can also tell you I will never stay in general at an all inclusive hotel. Way to repetitive and no variety. For the same amount you will spend here, my opinion is to rent a sweet vacation villa and go out to eat!! Experience actual Cabo!!!

My husband and I had an amazing time staying here in October of 2013. Rooms were clean, staff was friendly and very attentive. I suggest making reservations for the "specialty" restaurants when you first arrive since they book early. I loved that they had two pools...one with a younger "party vibe" and one that was more tranquil and relaxing.

Cannot wait to go back!

Knowing the reputation that Riu resorts have in general and this being our first stay in Cabo, we weren't sure what to expect. However we absolutely loved it and plan to go back! We swam in the ocean every day, there is quite the drop off from the beach and the tide is strong but you don't have to be an olympic swimmer to enjoy it. The infinity pools are clean, refreshing temperatures and great views out to lands end and the cruise ships at dock. The rooms were well appointed, but we had an "oceanview" room and I suppose if you cranked your neck sideways enough, you could see the ocean. The buffet had lots of selection and the food was good, ate a few ala cartes and they were so-so. The drinks were always well made and the premium alcohol was served if you asked for it. The mini bars in the rooms were always stock and made use of the liquor dispensers as well. Lots of partying next door at the Sante Fe if you're into that. Take a water taxi to lands end and also to Cabo San Lucas, Cabo Wabo was nothing special.

Room Tip: make sure your "oceanview" room is an oceanview room!
