Casa Contenta Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #2 of 27 Cabo San Lucas B&B and Inns
Reviewed 10 October 2011

Casa Contenta is more resort/spa than b&b. My wife's job puts us in luxury accommodations around the world, and Casa Contenta is equal to any of them. While the architecture, landscaped grounds, terraces, pool, and view are outstanding, we went home talking about the owners and Dora, who were always at hand when needed. Lori and Craig were especially helpful with suggestions for restaurants, sunset cruise, and attractions. Dora's breakfasts were not only delicious, but they were artistically presented and served with wondenderful smiles. We must mention the three dogs who were extremely well behaved but happy to interact if a guest wanted a playmate. We stayed five nights and were reluctant to leave because of the beautiful surroundings and the fact that our hosts became our friends.

Room Tip: All good: large, well appointed, spacious bathrooms.

My husband booked this trip for our first time in Cabo. We have always stayed in resorts, rented villas, etc in tropical destinations. I have stayed in B&Bs before, but this was my best experience. I feel like I am not doing it justice by calling it a"B&B". We were there in early September and the owners were on vacation( which I think they said it was rare if not the first time guests have been here without them here). We were greeted by their staff Dora and Chuy. They are wonderful!! The 10,000 sq ft villa was gorgeous with GREAT views. We were the only guests here, so it made us feel like we had run of the house, The owners sent us very helpful emails and left books for restaurants , car rentals and activities, which we utilized. The breakfast every morning was muy bueno! Dora was so helpful the whole time we were there. We would love to come back and meet the owners, they have really done a wonderful job with place. We will def be back!!

In short: great B and B, priceless views, decadent pool, great hosts and yummy food. Highly recommend. And no, no one bothers you for a timeshare or excursions.

After reading the rave reviews, I booked a 5 day stay for my husband and myself. One main reason for choosing a B and B was to avoid the hagglers at time share locations, and I can say, this was a success. For the half the vacation we were the only couple there, and the other half there just one other couple, so it was really like we were at home, that overlooked the bay, with 3 terraces and a pool! To be honest, we seldomly locked our bedroom door while we were home.

Like everyone reports, Dora is amazing! She even takes breakfast requests. The breakfast includes fresh fruit, a fresh fruit shake and a "typical" breakfast (eggs, pancakes, french toast, etc). One day we told her that my husbands stomach was bothering her, and she appears with fresh mint tea (from her garden) to soothe his stomach.

Again, like the other reviews say, Craig and Lori are fantastic. They are as visible or invisible as you want them to be. They recommend the best non-touristy restaurants (there's even a fabulous italian chef who will come to casa contenta to prepare your meal! Look up Antonella's), nice family-run dinner cruises and great secluded beaches!
Craig even has negotiated a great deal for car rentals, which is a brilliant idea. Parking is easy and free (at least on the off season).

The pups. Yes, there are 3. Solo is a bit older and quiet. Oso is about 7 and he is the big brother of everyone. Pascha is the baby. She is as apparent as you want her to be. If you like, she'll even swim in the pool with you! She loves to play fetch! But again, if you prefer to swim sans dog, that's fine too.

I stayed with my boyfriend at the Casa Contenta in mid August 2011. Our trip was unbelievably relaxing, fun and indulgent from start to finish. From the moment we walked through the door and Craig took us on a tour of the beautiful property, Kris and I were transported to another place- one of true relaxation and peace- it was an ideal vacation getaway. At the Casa Contenta, everywhere you look, you are met with the most breathtakingly beautiful vistas. The spectacular house has a variety of terraces and sitting areas tiered on different levels that feature sofas and love seats overlooking Cabo and the bay. We had massages outside on one of the levels- an incredible experience! Their personal masseuse, Norma, is really something else!

The breakfasts every morning made by the housekeeper, Dora, are out of this world! One morning it was pancakes, one morning it was eggs, one morning the yummiest stuffed tortillas ever! Lori and Craig were the kindest hosts ever and they helped us set up our plans for some of the most fantastic afternoons around town.

Our time at the Casa Contenta was so romantic- the room was appointed in such a lovely manner and the entire house is spotlessly clean and most interestingly decorated with artifacts and furniture that Lori and Craig have collected around the world. Just ask them about anything and they have the coolest story behind it all!

We look forward to the next time we can make it down to Cabo and stay at the Casa Contenta. It was one of the best trips we've ever made!

Thank you Lori and Craig!

All our love,

Ann and Kris

Lori and Craig, the couple who welcome you into their glorious home are truly wonderful hosts. They suss you out and quickly get what you require, attention or to be left alone with a pointers to what's available. We were a mother and son travelling together, so not an easy combo to accomodate but we will both always hold Casa Contenta in our hearts as one of the best holiday venues EVER. Cabos is a must to travel to if you live in the US, its 2 hrs ex LA, the weather is perfect, it is sunny 360 days a year. The ocean is clean, clear and of so warm and its so easy to find a beach all to yourself or a spot where its busy with heaps of people watching. Cabos is a safe destination, don't lump this place with border townships. Once I get back to New Zealand I will be telling everyone I know to get a slice of heaven and go and have a wonderful Dora made breakfast and luxuriate in Cabos at the Casa Contenta.

We drove up a long sandy road wondering what was ahead for our first visit to Cabo and breathed a sigh of relief as we entered our room as the Casa Contenta. The house is beautiful; the views breathtaking; and the hosts (including the puppy pups) made us feel like we were at home, but with no responsibilities. Dora, who took care of us, was an exceptionally sweet person, who made great breakfasts. We enjoyed our chats with Lori and Craig, as well as sitting alone in the many areas and reading. The pool was refreshing after a hot desert day. And of course, having their canine family members around was a great addition to our vacation. Craig, Lori, Dora, Pasha, Osito, and Solo will make sure that you enjoy your stay whether it is an activity filled week or a relaxing, lazy 3-day weekend. We will be back!

My husband and I booked Casa Contenta after reading all the positive reviews on Trip Advisor, and I am happy to say that we could not have been more satisfied with our stay.
There was no one else staying at the B&B during our stay so we felt that we had our own private home! But it was nice to chat with Lori and Craig who had the best recommendations for where to eat, beaches to visit and other must see sightseeing excursions.
The breakfasts were so delicious and the portions were just right. We especially looked forward to the smoothies.
Renting a car is a must, however there were a couple of nights where we wanted to let our hair down in Cabo so we took taxi's to and from the Casa which was very reasonable at anywhere between $12-$15 each way.
All in all, we couldn't recommend staying at the B&B more highly. It was such a relaxing experience that we hope to repeat again!
