We recently returned from a wonderful weeks stay. Purchased one week time share at a local charity auction..had a one bedroom suite with a balcony with a sea view. It was amazing to actually see whales from our balcony. The staff actually seem to enjoy their jobs..everyone was pleasant and eager to help. Smiles everywhere!!!Sitting in a lounger, overlooking the ocean, enjoying Happy Hour..heaven !! We even attended the Time Share presentation which was mildly high pressure !You can decline to attend with no problem. I would suggest checking the secondary market before committing which is what I am doing. It really is a very special resort.

Just came back from 4 days here. We had a great time and the facility is very, very nice. The town of Cabo is only a 12 minute drive away. We played both of the Cabo del Sol golf courses here at the hotel and they were fabulous. The pool areas are beautiful and not crowded. Overall, a very nice property. Service was excellent.

Room Tip: The suites are very large - really nice.

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for your comments. The proximity with Cabo San Lucas makes our hotel a good choice if you are looking for enjoying the destination and also relax on the poolside and hotel facilities. We are very glad that you liked the Golf Courses, Weiskopf and Nicklaus definitely did a fantastic job on the project.

Hope to see you back soon in the near future.

Best regards,

Renato

For those who would like to choose this destination hotel for your vacation or celebrating wedding i would definetly reccomend it, but there a thing that had happened to me- so i advise people take extra care of all their belongings and don't leave things in the room. Don't forget that you are travelling to Mexico, eventhough its an international brand Sheraton. Bad people can work everywhere. I just wanted to tell that one of our cellphones (iphone4) was exactly stollen from our room, because we didn't think that it is obligatory to put all your brlongings including cell phone into safe. Noone from the staff of the hotel did mention that it is necessary. So, after a week of our stay and hosekeeping visits twice a day, i found that our cell phone is not in the room( just after the morning cleaning) and i did exactly knew, that before housekeeper came it was in the room, because it was ringing. Finally i called people from staff, guest relations and security, they made up some investigation and the results were nothing. They just appologized that it was happened to me and that was all.

What a wonderful week in Cabo! The Hacienda del Mar was luxurious and immaculate. The room we were in was quite spacious and provided magnificent views of the ocean. I would recommend it for adults; not too much to do for young children.

Room Tip: Corner Suites, ocean view are terrific!

The Sheraton is a beautiful property.  The grounds were well groomed and staff very friendly and attentive.  The rooms were spotless and nicely furnished.  Clientele seemed to be mostly retirees and middle aged couples during my stay.

We went to the vacation club presentation for the free breakfast and tour discounts.  The promised 75 min tour took 3hrs, but we got some decent discounts out of it.

The beach is not really swimmable.  The water was dark and cold with very rough waves so I stayed mostly by the pool and jacuzzi. I'm a beach person and I normally prefer the beautiful clear calm turquoise waters and fine powdery white sand found in the Caribbean and eastern coast of Mexico like Cancun, Riviera maya, Playa del Carmen etc.   The Mexican pacific coast beaches in cities like Cabo and Puerto Vallarta don't have the same picturesque beauty which can be disappointing to the picky beach lover like me.  Of course I knew to what to expect from my research but I went anyway with an open mind as I always love to try new destinations.

We ate at most of the restaurants on site.  All meals and wait staff were excellent. Due to the secluded nature of the property there aren't other places in walking distance to eat unless you cab or shuttle it downtown for meals.  Either way you'll spend all your money at restaurants on site or on the cabs, shuttles or rental cars/gas going downtown for the cheaper food.  Shuttle is $10 round trip and a cab will run about $200 pesos each way to the marina.

Overall impression?   I most likely wont return to Cabo but I recommend the Sheraton if rates are fair and you do not necessarily care about location or beach quality.  Perfect for a lazy vacation as the resort has everything you need and you don't have to leave the property if you don't want to.  If you are young and like a more lively fun party atmosphere book elsewhere.

My husband and our friends just returned from a wonderful trip to Cabo San Lucas. Our stay at the Hacienda del Mar Resort & Spa was so great that it cannot really be expressed in words. We exchanged our Marriott timeshare in South Carolina for a three bedroom villa at the Hacienda del Mar. Rolando Pech, the Front Desk Manager placed us in a wonderful villa with beach and ocean views. We were so impressed from the moment we arrived until the sad time that we had to depart. We ate at Tomatos and Girasoles and we had great food at each. We also had lunch while enjoying the pool and beach and the food there was fine as well. The maids left our room so nice every day and all of the staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. I would certainly return again.

We stayed at this hotel over Christmas 2011 for a week. Overall impression is quite good.

Location: The hotel is situated on a wide stretch of beautiful sandy beach about 10 minutes away from downtown San Lucas. On most days, the waves were quite high and rough so swimming was not feasible. But the crashing waves made for a memorizing backdrop as we sat and stared at it for hours on end. My husband and I were looking for a more relaxed vacation and did not need the constant shopping or bar hopping of downtown, so this location worked perfectly for us. It was beautiful and tranquil, away from constant noise. We took a cab ($20 each way) or the hotel shuttle ($5 each way, runs every 90 minutes from morning to 9:30pm) into town on three different nights and found zero inconvenience.

Room: There is a limited number of ocean-front rooms. We were in an ocean front room, which helps with my 4 star rating as the views from our room were simply stunning. Many other rooms were considered garden-view and faces other buildings. If you do get a garden view, see if you can at least get one that does not face the central parking area, as some do. This is a desert, so the plants and landscaping is not as lush as rainforest locations hence you see the buildings much more distinctly rather than a forest of green. The rooms themselves are somewhat dated, with tiled floors and older looking baths. But everything was very clean and the bed firm and comfortable. Two complimentary bottles of water are provided each day. Twice a day maid service.

Pools: There were three main/large pools in the hotel section, 2 on the beach and 1 in the back garden area with a swimup bar. Another 1 (or 2?) pools are in the condos section. The pools are beautiful. The problem is the lack of pool-side chairs in high season. We were told that the hotel always runs at full capacity over the two or three weeks over Christmas and New Years. And during this time, guests resort to placing personal items or towels on the lounge chairs as early as 5am or even the night before. We found this to be true everyday that we stayed at the hotel and ended up having to do the same each morning as soon as we wake up. If you don't have to be beach-side, the back pool by the gardens is a good alternative. Otherwise, talk to the pool manager (who is a very nice man), and he'll try to figure something out for you. But know it's an issue during high season.

Restaurants: The hotel has several restaurants that were surprisingly good! The daily breakfast buffet at Tomates is about $25 or $30 and quite tasty. Dinner at D. Cortez and Pitahayas were both pleasant surprises (we weren't expecting much going in). Did not try Girasoles, but the menu items looked good. Poolside offerings were less than ideal. The cerviche was not chilled and tender as it should be - I took one bite and didn't eat the rest. The nachos are okay. Forgot what else, but after multiple tries, we decided the chicken tenders and the burgers were the best/safest choices.

Service: Service overall was quite good. Especially considering it's the Sheraton, not a higher end chain, and that we were there in high season. When we did have an issue and complained, the guest relations manager was very accommodating and took care of us right away.

Timeshare sales pitch: Right after checking in, you'll be "shown" to someone who will ask you a bunch of questions and assess your likelihood of buying a condo. We very nicely but firmly said we are not interested and do not wish to hear the pitch, and the woman let us go within 2 minutes. She did say she had to try and sell, so it's hotel policy. You can't get away from it, but you can minimize it.

Overall though, had a great week and really enjoyed the hotel, the location, the views, the food and service. Would go back again and recommend to others.

Room Tip: If you do get a garden view room, see if you can ask for one that does not face the parking lot, as...
