“Hidden Gem Lots of Local History and Geology”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

Great for those hot days. Free but suggest a donation. Tons of geology and local marine/animal displays. Some local art murals as well. Suggest allow 1 hour. A chance to exercise your Spanish reading skills.

“Wish we'd allowed for more time”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

Excellent displays and even separate boards in English for us touristas. We only allowed ourselves 45-50 minutes but we could have stayed a lot longer. They didn't charge admission but they do appreciate donations which we happily gave.

My wife and I stopped in and read up on The local history. This place is a great stop for anyone wanting to know more about Cabo.

“An intellectual gem in party town”
Reviewed 21 February 2014 via mobile

This was our 4th annual return visit to this small but informative museum of geology and anthropology. The first exhibits cover the beginnings of the universe then move on to the geology of the earth. Plate tectonics is explained in english as well as spanish, including one of the best descriptions I've ever seen of the formation of the sea of cortez and the separation of baja from mainland Mexico, which took place during the past 20 million years. There's a wonderful diorama of the rock types and topography of baja sur and a fine collection of rocks and fossils from the region. Later exhibits cover both paleontology and anthropology of the region, as well as showing photo and first-hand accounts of the growth of los cabos over the past 100 years. Both locals and tourist are lucky to have such an accessible educational exhibit in the so-call party town. Unfortunately, there's no credit given to the curators responsible. I asked and was told that UABCS geology department in La Paz contributed.
