“Great hotel, friendly staff, good location”
Reviewed 30 November 2013

We booked the Casa Dorada based on a friend's recommendation. My partner and I had never been to Cabo before, so didn't know the landscape very well.

In Cabo, you have Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo.
The Casa Dorada is within walking distance to the main town and marina of Cabo San Lucas. However, we really didn't spend too much time in "town". It's a bit trashy, and very party-oriented. There are about 7 good restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel. So, the hotel is in a good location, with plenty to do nearby. The staff is super friendly. They initially gave us a room with two double beds, but moved us to a deluxe one bedroom suite.
That said, when we go back, what I would probably do is book one of the other hotels somewhere in the "hotel corridor" closer to San Jose Del Cabo which is a little bit more "sophisticated" and certainly more charming than downtown Cabo San Lucas.

Room Tip: The rooms are all spacious. I would just be clear about what kind of bed(s) you want, and request a...

Spent a week there with another couple, food was good and the staff was great. Found it a bit pricey for food, but the alcohol was cheap enough. Not the nicest resort in Cabos, but easily in the top 4. We had the opportunity to visit a couple other resorts and actually stay in one other one as well while on this trip. All are top notch.
Very friendly people at the resort and at the marina as well. Beware of the "Vacation Club" (time share) people. They are very agressive sales people.
All in all a great place to go and we will go back.

Just for back from 5 night stay and had a wonderful time. We had a one bedroom suite on the 5th floor. Rooms are huge and beautifully decorated!!! Front desk staff very pleasant, but our beach waitress's Slyvia was the best!!! Get the mojitos, they make them great!!! Also what we enjoyed is that you don't have the pay extra for cabanas or floatations devices for the water. They were in a first come basis. Very quiet hotel, if you want to party just walk down to the beach!! Fun!!!

We just spend 2 weeks in November 2013 at Casa Dorada. The hotel is beautiful with the best location on Medano Beach. Stunning views from every room of Land's End where you can see Lover's Beach. The staff is amazing, making sure your vacation is the best from the front desk staff (Christian, Gus, Jeanine etc.) cleaning staff to the concierge (Laura, Reyna, etc.) and the pool staff (Ivan, Gustavo, Alfredo, Armando,Pepe, Emilio, Bismark, Angela, Marvin, etc.) They get to know you real quick and they are all so amazing. The beds in the rooms are very comfortable. The 12 Tribes restaurant is great. Carlos and his staff are very talented and create excellent dishes. You must try the lobster bisque. They also have a sushi bar and thin crust wood oven pizza..fantastic!! The open air restaurant overlooking the ocean is very romantic, but also family friendly. Just beautiful. Casa Dorada and Cabo are very safe. This hotel is also walking distance to town where there is a fairly large mall. You can also take a cab to Wallmart or Costco for about $8 -$10 each way. We will be back soon!!!

I was there in November 2013. The location is perfect, right in the middle of everything but quiet inside the hotel. The rooms very comfortable and large. The pool is excellent. I did not have any problem with overcrowding or too many children. The service was great and courteous. The food is a little expensive, but I expected that. I also enjoyed the spa, which was a very nice retreat after a long day in the sand and sun. I'll be back.

I was there October 4, 2013 and stayed for a week. I was assigned to a nice one bedroom on the second level. I was originally assigned to room 2015, but they moved me to the quiet side away from the kids area which I was much better for me. The room was very nicely furnished and practical for me. My balcony looked out over the pool and got the afternoon sun, which I liked.
I was impressed by the hotel staff remembering my name from the first day to the last. I bellmen were all friendly and helpful, especially Rubin who was assigned to help me with my luggage.
The Saltwater Spa was wonderful. They have all the facilities at no extra charge, steam room, sauna, hot tub, cool tub, showers, lockers, fresh fruit, shaving cream and razors. I was greeted each day by the front desk staff, especially nice was Irais. The Saltwater Spa also has a very nice workout facility. There are two separate pools, one with a swim up and sit poolside bar.
If you are going there during football season, they have several televisions to watch both college and professional games.
There is a nice restaurant, 12 Tribes, onsite that has an open view of the beach, ocean and the Arc. The food is very good and staff was warm and friendly. The hostess, Mariana, always had a smile and I was seated immediately.
Casa Dorada is very well located. It is within walking distance to the mall and the marina where some great restaurants are located. Casa Dorada does offer in room WiFi at $14.00 per day or you can get buy a drink from the onsite Starbucks and get two hours of free WiFi.
One other person I must mention is the pool concierge, Ivan. He was helpful, knowledgeable and just the nicest person one could meet.
Casa Dorada is just a few steps away from the beach and a great breakfast restaurant, The Office. Highly recommend eating there.
All in all, I look forward to returning to Cabo and I would definitely stay at Casa Dorada again and again. The sales reps did not pressure me to take a tour or listen to the sales pitch.

Room Tip: Ask to be away from the kids activities area, unless you like having the morning sun coming into you...
