We've been to Mexico 8-10 times, this was our first time visiting Cabo, previously we've vacationed in Cancun, Maya Riviera, and Cozumel. We LOVE Mexico. We stayed at the Casa Dorada in Cabo San Lucas, Los Cabos and I think we'd say Cabo is our favourite part of Mexico so far. Great hotel; beautiful, new, clean, ocean front, great room size and facilities for families. Poolside service was friendly and prompt as were all staff. My husband and I did not eat in the hotel although our children and our adult friend did dine at 12 Tribes in the hotel one night when we went out on our own - they said it was "okay". There are so many wonderful places to eat at the Marina and in town - all walking distance, ie, Alexander's, Jacks, The Office, Tiki Hut, Salvatore's and probably our favourite - La Hacienda - would love to stay here next time we visit Cabo. The only negative comment I can make about the hotel is that they do not offer free or even affordable Wi-Fi. Many restaurants do have free Wi-Fi when you dine with them, but then we spent much of our time connecting! :) The hotel is situated behind the Mango Deck restaurant; as we have school aged children, we were traveling over Spring Break; unfortunately the Mango Deck was Spring Break Central. Noise (loud speaker and music) was often overpowering. From our 6th floor balcony we unfortunately had a front row seat to witness the drunken behaviour and effects of Spring Break partying - not something we expected or wanted to expose to our children to, nor will we allow them to vacation here on their own, at least at this time of year; over the course of 30 minutes one evening while we were enjoying the sunset from our balcony, we saw 2 fights, 3 ambulances dealing with drunken kids and 1 apparent drug bust. We did a tour on the Eco Cat which was a lot of fun but was more of a party boat tour than we were expecting - still fun, just not exactly what we had expected, and a lovely water taxi tour to the Arch and spent an hour at Lovers Beach - bring your own food/drinks with you if you go out there. Watching the cruise ships and yachts come into the bay was a nice bonus and occasionally you could get a glimpse of whales blowing off where the bay met the Pacific. We stayed 12 nights which may have been just too much; had we left after 9 nights, I don't think the Spring Break crowd would have been as much a lowlight on the trip.

Room Tip: Didn't look to be a bad room in this hotel, all ocean view. We were in the middle section on the 6th floor, stunning views, close to stairs/elevator. Kitchens do not include ovens so difficult to prepare many meals.

Casa Dorada has the best location in Cabo. Not luxurious but nice. The service is good but not fantastic, rooms are large with a small kitchen its great for a family vacation with kids. The beach is next to famous beach Clubs Mango and The Office. Its only 10 minutes walk to the main strip in San Lucas.

Room Tip: Most rooms are suites with a living room plus the bedroom. All have large terraces with ocean view.

Casa Dorada is well located for going on excursions like whale watching or for walking to restaurants, bars and clubs. The gym is first class, the rooms are large and well furnished, and the views of the cruise boats in the harbor are excellent from most of the rooms on the upper floors. The beach reserved for hotel guests is narrow but is nice when the public beach is crowded. The woman in charge of Guest Services and the people at the Front Desk are helpful and responsive. It can be slow checking in if a busload of guests has just arrived. Casa Dorada is a few minutes away from The Office on the Beach, which has fantastic margaritas, delicious Mexican food, and an unforgettable atmosphere. The disadvantage of being so close to The Office and other beachfront restaurants is that you can hear their music from your room unless you close the doors. The other source of noise at Casa Dorada is from the beachfront patio which is the site of weddings and parties. These generate loud music which generally appears to stop around 11 p.m. If your goal is to do lots of activities and go out for fun, Casa Dorada is perfect. If your goal is to relax in a quiet, peaceful place with your chair facing the open sea, Casa Dorada is not for you.

Room Tip: Request a room on a high floor towards the center of the hotel. Rooms with very low numbers are noisy due to their proximity to beachfront restaurants.

I did a trip for 4weeks through the main areas of USA with my hubby and Cabo was the highlight of our trip.
The hotel was amazing, room was so spacious with an amazing view
We were located towards the mango deck end up on the 3rd floor, was initially concerned about the reviews I had read about the mango deck being a party all night long but we didn't have any issues like this on our stay.
Room was always clean and the staff are very friendly.
We did however get stuck with a time share presentation which they said wasn't a time share, so do not accept the free breakfast no matter how they try and sell it to you. I had fears my hubby was going to be locked up as they wouldn't let up on us and wouldn't let us leave the room
Our room did get flooded the last night we were there as it rained heavily but didn't damper our holiday in any way
Water Taxis located out the front of the hotel on the water, water sports, the mango deck and wonderful places to eat, we couldn't complain
Would happily stay again

Second visit to Casa Dorada and it did again not disappoint. This hotel is in a great location if you just want to walk around town & the Marina (10 minute walk). Just asked at the front desk at check in and we were upgraded to a one bedroom. I cannot remember her name but the woman at the guest services desk downstairs was such a great help to us. Never had problems getting beach.pool chairs as we always found them readily available. Lauren & Silvia on the beach were always available to provide us our 2 x 1 cocktails and are just the sweetest. We never incurred any problems with the timeshare people nor were never asked. We ended up getting a room on the first floor by the pool which I was not crazy about at first but it ended up being a great decision as we easily could get in and out of our room without having to always use the elevators. Hotel is very secure, very clean. Kodus to our housekeeper Maria I think her name was, she was the bomb! She thoroughly cleaned our room everyday from top to bottom (room 125) and it was sparkling. The new Gelato was real yummy and a nice new touch to the hotel.

Room Tip: First floor rooms are a great choice because you can easily get in and out of your room with ease of not having to always to wait to get on elevators. You don't have the great view like you do on top, but the pool at night is a breathtaking view the way it is lit it is only a minute steps to the beach and you are right their poolside!
