“Great staff, relaxing resort”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

My girlfriend and I stayed there from august 3rd to august 7th. We are in our early 30's with no kids and we both thought the resort was a wonderful, relaxing resort. We had a fantastic time, the staff was great, the rooms were clean and the grounds were well maintained. Alma is the bartender at the adult pool, which does not have a swim up bar, but her service made it well worth the short walk from the pool to the bar. Fausto was another great bartender who worked at the swim up bar (dolphin bar) and we even saw him at the bar located in front of the buffet (napa) one evening. Raul greeted us when we checked in, and had originally booked us in the second floor, but happily changed our room to the third floor because we preferred a balcony. The next morning, I had to return to the front desk to pick up a new activities sheet, and Raul had even remembered my name. The buffet (Napa) could have had a little more variety, but we always found something that satisfied our appetite. We had lunch one day at the grill, and the burgers were decent, the fries were fresh, and the hot dogs were good. The queso was a little runny, but still had good flavor for the nachos. Breakfast always had the best selection of food and the staff kept the food full the entire service. The "bang for your buck" is definitely worth it. If you tip your servers and bartenders, they will notice you and you will not have to wait for food or drinks. Take care of them, and they will take care of you. There are three different pools, each one has a different atmosphere. The adult pool is quite and peaceful, activities pool is full of fun and games, and the kids pool will keep the kids entertained. The only downside to the pools, is the water was a little warm for a swimming pool, but we understood that that was something out of their control. Overall, this resort was a great place to stay, had a wonderful view and a very friendly staff.

Room Tip: We stayed in the 1000 building, facing the ocean, on the third floor. It was quiet, and had a great...

We visited Los Cabos for the first time on July 2014. Our stay at the Holiday Inn was pleasant, but it was not what I was expecting. The most shocking thing was that while the hotel is a beachfront property, you CAN'T swim in the ocean! It's not safe to swim on the pacific side, since the waves are rough and current is very strong! There are no water activities whatsoever in San Jose! In order for us to get to swim and do some water activities we had to travel about 25 minutes to San Lucas. The hotel itself is good, our room was clean, our bed comfortable and the ac worked great! The food was also good but repetitive. But the hotel staff is FABULOUS! They are so nice, friendly and truly go above and beyond. Every single staff member we came in contact with greeted us with a smile, and were always willing to help. I would recommend this hotel if you're looking to stay in San Jose, just know that the ocean here is just to look at, there is nothing to do other than go walk in downtown, which is a pretty long walk, read a book and look at the beautiful ocean, and I do mean only LOOK at it. I would not stay here again only because while I do plan on going back, I do not plan on staying in San Jose again.

The Holiday Inn Resort - All Inclusive is the ONLY way to go in Los Cabos, Mexico. The rooms are spacious, the staff is top-notch, the views are incredible and the food is FANTASTIC !! If you are flying in to Los Cabos (SJD), this is the first resort transportation stops at in San Jose del Cabo. The resort is located on the far eastern side of the hotel district, adjacent to a wildlife sanctuary. It is on the beach, with plenty of tables, chairs and lounge beds to relax in while watching the waves crash against the shoreline. This part of the beach is NOT swimmable, no matter how strong you think you are. The under-tow is way too strong, and the waves are incredibly large at times. For surfboarders, this is a great location.

I will start with the check-in at this resort. From the time we stepped out of our arranged transportation at the resort, we felt at home. The bellman was there to assist us with our bags, and helped direct us to the front desk. The front desk staff was very friendly, and got us checked in to a room earlier than the 4:00pm posted check-in time. (Special Note- If you are a Holiday Inn Priority Club Member, like me, make sure to ask if there are any upgraded rooms available. We were given an AMAZING ocean view room, just for being a member.)

The room was absolutely INCREDIBLE !! 3rd floor, private balcony, overlooking 2 pools and an ocean view to top it off. You could hear the waves crashing into shore all day/night long. The rooms were very spacious, with a California King size bed. The room had a fridge, stocked with soda, sparkling water as well as several large bottles of spring water. There was an in-room safe, iron/board, hair dryer and plenty of storage space. The air conditioning was incredible, and so refreshing after the humidity of Los Cabos.

Now remember....... We purchased an ALL-INCLUSIVE package, and that is truly the case !! There are many dining options to choose from. The main restaurant, Napa, changes it's food theme daily. From Mexican, Tropical, Italian, American, Asian and Mediterranean, there was always something good to eat. Napa is a buffet restaurant, and is conveniently located next to the family pools. It has both indoor and patio seating, with a screen around the patio to keep out the bugs.

There are also the Frutas y Flores restaurant (menu only), the Terrace (doubles as a taco stand for lunch, as well as steakhouse for dinner) and Explanada ( a stage-side outdoor restaurant, which is buffet style) and the Carebino ( Burgers, hot dogs, fries and nacho bar). ALL the food was incredible, and the drinks were amazing !! PLEASE NOTE - Regular menu items are at NO COST, but if you want specialties like shrimp, lobster or premium cuts of meat there is a small surcharge for those.) I don't know how ANYONE, could go hungry at this Resort !! They give you a schedule at check-in, which shows you the times and locations of breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurants rotate for various meals, so just look at the schedule (they have video screens throughout the property showing the food options/activities) to find out what is open at any given moment.

Pools ... There are 5 pools to choose from, ALL with either a swim-up bar, or a bar next to it. And ALL drinks are FREE !! If you wanted to, you could just sit at the pool bar and drink until you pass out. But why do that, when you are in Los Cabos !! There are 2 family pools, with slides for the kids, an activities pool (water aerobics, volley ball, water polo, trivia and black jack throughout the day (check the daily schedule for times), kids pool and an ADULTS ONLY pool (when you want to get away from the noise and splashing).

There is also a spa (extra cost), photo studio (they give you one free photo for staying), jewelry store and a small convenience store with small gift items.

The grounds...... Wow... Is all I can say about the Resort grounds. There are sub-tropical gardens all around the resort, full of various desert fauna. The whole resort is covered with palm trees, bursting with coconuts (which they cut down some daily for the bars). And my favorite spot is the Orchard. That's right, the resort has it's own beautiful orchard full of mango trees, papaya trees, watermelon plants and just about any and all herbs you can think of. They even grow their own chili peppers for use in the kitchens.

There is also a concierge desk, car rental desk and taxi service available at the resort. For those looking for some nightly entertainment, there is an outdoor stage with nightly entertainment (check schedule) and the Cantina for music and dancing.

So...... To sum this trip up.......... AMAZING !! I have been to Cabo 3 other times, but only by ship. So to fly there and stay for 6 days, was a great experience. This resort has EVERYTHING we were looking for, and the price can't be beat !!

I do want to single out someone from the resort, that made our trip very welcoming. Enrique the bellman, who is from Los Cabos. He was so friendly, helpful and full of great advise !! Thank you Enrique, for making our trip even better with your kind words and advise.

Room Tip: 3rd floor rooms have balconies, while first floor rooms have hammocks. Sign up for Priority Club Rew...

We stayed here for our 30th anniversary, we had a ocean, pool view. It has 3 pools, 1 for adults only, all pools have a poolside bar, 2 you can swim up to. because of the time we went there was only about a third of the hotel booked in November so they opened 2 resterants at a time, but the food was tastey, we were more breakfast people and enjoyed it very much. I also liked how you could walk every where and feel safe in town to the mall and old San-Jose to see the old buildings. You can not beat the value for staying here and the rooms were well kept.

Room Tip: the ocean view is the best

We have been back to the Holiday Inn a number of times since our last review. This is our home away from home. As usual we would like to say hola and send a hug to all our friends on staff who work so hard and always have a smile. Take care of each other until we see you again.

We always bring plastic wine glasses from home to use at the buffet. We also bring our ‘Canadian Tire’ cups to keep our water and lime cold when we are giving our liver’s a rest in the morning!!

We always find something to eat – the best thing is you have not had to cook it or shop for it!! We quite often share bread dipped in balsamic oil and vinegar with our glass of wine before our salad or soup at lunch. Basically, spending the time chatting to each other and people watching. We definitely enjoy the omelets at breakfast and usually share one. The red hot sauce kicks it up a notch. Our favorite menu at dinner is the comfort food – we usually share meat loaf, pizza and a Caesar salad. Everything tastes better when you share. We have spent many afternoons sitting down at the snack bar with a glass of wine and enjoying the awesome view – how lucky are we to be able to do this.

We have been approached by other guests many times to ask us how many times we have been at the Holiday Inn as they have seen us getting our daily hugs - also, how many years we have been married etc. There are some questions we refuse to answer on the grounds that it may incriminate us!!

Definitely try Capricciio Pizza and Trattoria owned by former food and beverage manager of the Presidente (now the Holiday Inn) Raul who we have kept in touch with as he is a great friend and all around great guy. It is in a shopping mall in San Jose and is very small with a bit of outdoor seating. The food is great. On the evening we went, we shared different things on the menu and we were fortunate to have Raul join us. Introduce yourselves – you will not be charged for the warm welcome and smile.

As always, a special thank you to GM Patricia Chapman and her husband Pepe, Sergio, Maximo (Chief Extraordinare) and last but not least Raul at the front desk who always makes our vacation extra special.

Room Tip: We always enjoy a lanai room close to the adult pool where it is peaceful and quiet.

We chose the Holiday Inn for it's good reviews and fantastic location. We were definitely not dissapointed! This hotel has a great variety of everything.

The food was fantastic! Breakfast has a huge selection ( a very talented lady works at the omelette station, I wish I got her name, she is extremely impressive) as do the lunches and dinners. Every couple nights there were amazing performances and parties organized by the events staff so not only do you get to eat all sorts of expertly prepared cuisine but you get the added bonus of wonderfully organized shows.

Even during the day the hotel itself has an great events and activities staff! If you want to have a genuinely good time you don't have to look much further than Carlos, Alan,Ileana, Karen and Oscar. I can honestly say these individuals make every day special and exciting. Their parties and day events are beyond entertaining and they are so sincere and fun to spend your days with!

As far as the resort goes there are 3 pools which are well maintained and 2 have swim up bars. In the main pool there are several great bartenders, I wish I could have remembered everyone working there. One name that definitely stood out was Eli. Just ask him for a special and you will guaranteed get something different and tasty every time. We miss his talents since we've come back.

The hotel is right on the beach which is beautiful and sandy. We came in a season where there was a strong undertow so we didn't get to do much ocean swimming but we did get a chance to test out the waters.

The rooms of the hotel are cleaned daily and are really spacious and the A/C for this month was one of our best friends.

With activities, we went with Cabo adventures, if you're booking stay away from anyone asking you to go to a little 1 hr meeting beforehand (it's a scam it's all timeshares). There should be individuals from your travel company who can offer you tons of adventures without the hassle. The prices are a bit higher but they are the real prices not post timeshare tears ones. The best adventure for us by far was the day sailing, it is beautiful and so relaxing! You are completely taken car of all you need to remember is sunscreen and some swimming things.

There is a little town not far from the hotel and a beautiful bird and fish sanctuary. I recommend doing the free bike tour with the events staff earlier on to get a chance to see the area a bit and get familiar with it all. Up the road around a 10 minute walk there is a little strip mall with a Mega ( equivalent to Walmart). You can get some good snacks and cheap alcohol to take home if you like.

If you travel to downtown Cabos there is a lot of beautiful things to see. If you feel like bartering then there is a good flea market there just keep in mind that the prices are really high for tourists so you have to put on a good negotiating face.

The only thing I would have changed about this trip was our travel company. After some complications when trying to fly out on our last day we were basically left stranded in the middle of the desert. We did get some help from one employee but unfortunately the next day she dissapeared without a trace. We had to really work hard to get in touch with anyone from Sun Wing and even then the process to get direct help and understanding was very painful and long. T

hat being said, we had so many helping hands when we were left struggling. We stayed 2 nights as the Best Western and the manger was so sympathetic and extremely generous when it came to helping us out of our struggle. The staff are all so friendly and they really went out of their way to make things easier on us! It was so fantastic to receive that kind of genuine generosity from individuals who did not know us. It was really refreshing and comforting.

Referring back to the Holiday Inn once more I just need to say that this hotel hires some of the most good hearted and fantastic people. I genuinely cannot say enough about how amazing and kind the staff at Holiday Inn are! Without a doubt we were touched by the level of sincerity and warmth they treated us with. They definitely made our stay much richer than it could ever have been. My sincerest thanks to everyone there who goes beyond the call of duty for those in need! All in all this was an unforgettable vacation and we do not regret choosing the Holiday Inn. Honestly 2 weeks and we would definitely go back!

Room Tip: We were on the second flood facing the ocean. It was really beautiful. If you want a hammock though...

Great value. This was one of the less expensive all-inclusive hotels and we really enjoyed it. The food was great for the money. Staff was great (including the maids, servers, bar tenders, and kids club). The pools were CLEAN and nice. Note: I found a couple of bugs floating one day before the filter got them but that is to be expected. Also, one day there was some floating scum in the corner of one of the pools - but likely from someone spilling their drink at the swim up bar...also out of the control of hotel staff.

Worth mentioning:
The hotel is called the Holiday Inn Resort Los Cabos but it is really in San Jose (downtown San Jose is just a couple of minutes away). Los Cabos is about 30 mins from here.
-No swimable beach here but you can ride horses on the beach outside the hotel.
-Our AC got down to 27 Celsius so they offered to move us.
-The beds were a little firm for me.
-You can pay extra for a big steak and lobster (we did that one night for fun). The lobster was good, the steak wasn't so good.

Overall, for the amount of money we paid it was great!

Room Tip: We paid a little more for beachfront - very nice.

As for the steak, I will make sure to share this issue with our chef. In regards to our beds, sure enough our mattress is a hotel grade designed to withstand much more rigorous wear and tear and still provide the full support that one should have in a mattress. For someone who prefers a softer mattress, we have egg crate foamy available at the front desk for your use. You would need to request them
