“Beatiful resort, friendly staff, only a few things that could be better!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2010

we stayed here for our honeymoon for 9 days. overall, we have very fond memories of this place, and we had a fantastic trip. there are, however, a few things that i feel could use improvement. i know no place is perfect, but if they fixed a few minor issues, this place sure could be close to it!

the staff. they are extremely friendly and just overall very good people. we were particularily impressed with hector (the protector, haha), raul, cruz, and kennedy. they were outstanding , and they deserve a raise!! :)

the room we originally booked was just okay to me. for any other trip but our honeymoon, it would have been fine. i was just a regular sized hotel room, nice furniture, and a big balcony with an ocean front view. the bathroom, as others have mentioned, needs improvement. the grout and caulk in the shower was old, and needed to be replaced. it looked kinda bad. the toilet had a half door, frosted glass, but similar to a public restroom door that didnt go floor to ceiling. so you had no privacy! i didnt like that at all, and they should replace those for sure. we decided that we would ask for an upgrade, since it was our honeymoon. we did have to pay the difference, which was reasonable, but they upgraded us to this FABULOUS room! it had a huge living/dining area, a full kitchen, washer dryer, huge bathroom, huge master suite and 2 balconys, one of which had a HUGE infinity edge hot tub, like 15 feet long. it was awesome, and we are so glad we upgraded the room cause it was amazing!

we ordered room service almost every day for breakfast, and it always arrived when we wanted it to. we were particularily fond of the fresh squeezed OJ, the smoked salmon bagel, and the fresh fruit plate. yum!

the pools were beautiful, especially the main one closest to the hotel. it was very clean, the landscaping was beautiful, and the temperature was just about perfect. you could eat lunch there, and the swim up bar was great. the waiters came around frequently asking if you needed anything, and replenished your bottled water without even asking them.

it was very quiet the entire time we were there. the busiest day at the pool, there were maybe 8 couples. same at the restaurants. maybe 10-15 people in the restaurant at once was as busy as we saw it. we kept on wondering, where is everyone!?! but its just the way the property is, which we were not used to.

the food was pretty good. i will say that it is the best food i have ever had in an all inclusive. i ordered steak almost every dinner. they served an angus filet at the restaurant in the main hotel that was very good. that was my favorite meal to eat there. they served it with potato for me upon request, so they were always trying to make us happy! but then when i ordered filet at the restaurant on the beach, it wasnt the same. it was more like sirloin, not filet at all. the goat cheese salad was really good at the pool restaurant. the mixed drinks were good, they even made tableside mexican coffee for us one night that was AWESOME! but, i am a wine drinker, and the wine there was terrible. they really need to get some better wines, every one i tried was awful. also the service is slow. they are in no hurry there to get you the food quickly. but we didnt really mind cause we were on vaca, and had no where to be anyways!

the cab ride into town was $25 each way! so that is a huge downer. you can go to dreams next door at catch a shuttle for $6 per person each way, so thats a better deal, but not exactly convenient to have to walk down the beach, especially if we were dressed up to go into dinner in town, we were forced to just take the cab. they should have the shuttle swing by zoetry to pick up the guests as well. its a higher priced resort than dreams, so we should have that courtesy. we did go to dreams one night and ate at the sushi restaurant, which was surprisingly good, but we didnt try any of the other restaurants there because we heard that they werent nearly as good as zoetry.

also, we could never connect to wifi. we even had a router in our room, and it didnt work the entire time! they really need to fix that, its so frustrating!

overall, i would recommend this resort. i feel that we got a good deal on our trip, and i would pay the same again. i would not pay more though, and it seems that they have upped their prices a little since we booked it.

thanks for a great honeymoon, zoetry!

My Husband and I went to Casa Del Mar for 10 nights on our Honeymoon. We have stayed at many expensive and beautiful resorts in the past. The Zoetry topped all of our expectations and hopes. We were treated like kings and queens. Rafael was our concierge, he went above and beyond for us our entire trip. If we were too lazy to walk back to our room he would get us a golf cart and we would be driven "home." Raul was another employee that stood out from the rest. If we wanted something that wasn't on the menu, he would make it available anyway. Our room was amazing with breathtaking views of the beach and resort. The drinks were always to our liking with top shelf alcohol! It was a very relaxing resort which was exactly what we wanted. You also have the option to go to Dreams to wine and dine, go in their pool, enjoy their nightlife etc. It was the best of both worlds! The free service of calling back home was extremely convient also. Overall I would highly recommend this resort.

Having just returned from a week stay at Zoetry Casa del Mar I wanted to take the time to comment on a great trip. While the rooms were nice and the grounds and pools are beautiful ~ it was the staff that is the real gem at this resort. We had the most amazing service and would like to mention a few of the people that were so friendly and went out of their way to make our stay special. A big " Thank You" to Hector, Fermin, Arturo and Augustin. We were there for rest and relaxation with a group of friends and these wonderful people exceded our expectations in making that happen. The food was delicious and we also enjoyed the spa. We would definitely like to go back!

I will admit, I was worried about honeymooning here about seeing some of the reviews here. However- we had an incredible experience. Upon arrival, we were immediately upgraded to a much larger suite with its own roof deck and an INCREDIBLE direct view of the ocean. We had so much privacy and space. The room was nice, though the frosted door on the bathroom leaves something to be desired. The atmosphere of the resort was romantic and quiet. We loved the pool down on the sand and always had great drink service. It was so quiet the week we were there but the day before we left dozens of people arrived so I bet the following week wasn't as nice for guests.

Complaint: The food service here is slow. VERY slow. The food is delicious and the waiters are all sweet but the food takes forever. This was VERY frustrating but we were never really in a rush.

Raves: The spa was INCREDIBLE. We had massages on the beach and loved them! Our package included golf but we weren't thrilled with that. Lo and behold.. the awesome concierge hooked us up with a private sail cruise out to the Cabo Arch. It was our favorite trip. Just the two of us and the crew - free! We went snorkeling and visited Lover's beach.

- this is a small, luxury resort. The food is light and delicious and the atmosphere is geared towards couples.

- we had a GORGEOUS romantic dinner for two on the beach.. when we got back.. they had filled our tub, lit candles and scattered the bed with flower petals.

- we had maid service every day- three times a day. Our mini bar was consistently refilled and the staff went out of their way to throw little extras at us.

I would definitely go back. I will say we talked to other couples who hated their rooms because they didn't have an ocean view but our room was incredible.. so no complaints there!

First of all: we had a wonderful time at Casa del Mar and would love to return instantly. Since there are already many raving reviews we will try to give some information that might have been not or at least less often mentioned.

The buildings and landscape gardening:
As we learned the main building was once a private hacienda, so it's not a new building. Instead you will find a beautiful, mexican structure with lots of character. Everything is well maintained, tastefully and with love decorated. The same can be said about the gardening. There are many palm trees, flowers, cactuses and green hedges everywhere. In the evenings the staff burn candles everywhere and create an absolutely cozy and romantic atmosphere.

Rooms:
We had a Junior Ocean Few Suite, that was tastefully decorated with high quality furniture. The size wasn't huge but definitely adequate. The open bath was generally nice because it allows to have some natural light in the bath. The only fact we were not so happy about was that the toilet is only separated by a half open glass door. The beds were - for our liking - a bit too soft, the sheets were of high quality, though. The cleaning was almost spotless and every day we found rose petals in the bath around the sink - a lovely touch.

Staff:
As already mentioned before: the staff is just amazing! They are very attentive and helpful without being pushy. We spent most of our time down at the beach (adult) pool and right after we arrived there in the morning we instantly got towels, bottled water (or whatever you like) and the sunshade was opend for us. They constantly cruise around the pool to make sure you are happy.

Food / Restaurants:
Yes, it's an all-inclusive-resort - but without having an all-inclusive atmosphere! The restaurants are small and cozy and offer a menu with ample dishes to choose from: appetizers, soups, salads, beef, chicken, fish and desserts. The food they offer is definitely the most light and healthy food we ever had in a hotel! We also loved the fact, that the portions were on the smaller side, hence we could always enjoy a full three course dinner - yummy! No, they didn't change the menu while we were there, but since we loved every dish we had, we just didn't get bored. Nevertheless, in case you are looking for more options you can always walk over to the Dreams Hotel.

Pools:
Both pools provide a swim-up bar. But since we loved to hear the sound of the waves and to be near the beach we always went down to the much smaller beach pool. We never had a problem to find loungers and a sunshade. Just on a Saturday afternoon at around 3.00 pm there were some guests who couldn't find a place and hence had to go back to the main pool. Although Casa del Mar is a fairly small and quiet hotel that doesn't mean that there aren't guests who love to take advantage of the all-inclusive offer. Hence every other day or so at both swim-up bars mingled people who drunk cocktails like water and soon became friends. So in the late afternoon it sometimes could get a bit noisy around the pool bars.

Entertainment:
Casa del Mar doesn't offer pool games or similar things. There is different kind of music around the pools, relaxing in the mornings, pop music in the afternoons. In addition you will find every evening in your room a program for the next day that informs you about all the specials that will be offered the following day, e.g. yoga at 8.00am at the beach, a cooking class at the beach restaurant, a photographic lesson or a salsa dance lesson or a wine tasting in the evening. Gloria, who is responsible for the entertainment, is a lovely women who is more than happy to answer all your questions and she has always a helping hand around the pools.

Gym:
The hotel provides a nice, bright gym on the ground floor near the open reception area. It offers everything you need to keep up your fitness training or to simply work off some extra calories.

What you should know:
The beach is not busy at all and you can probably walk for hours in each direction. Beside the fact that swimming in front of the hotel is actually not allowed the sand is not as white and fine as you might expect it to be. Walking at the beach can sometimes even feel quite uncomfortable under your feet.

Even though Casa del Mar is a luxury hotel that claims "luxury prices" you should not expect to find everything always "perfect"! We booked the hotel with an special offer (around $550 per night). But if we would have paid $800 (or certainly easily more) per night we wouldn't rate the hotel as "good value". What we mean is: you are in Mexico and e.g. sometimes(!) the tables are missing some cutlery, or the cutlery is not properly polished, or nobody offers you coffee/tea at breakfast, or the staff forgets to replace jam on the breakfast table, or there are used, dirty dishes placed for hours in front of rooms, or the carpet in the gym is partly broken.

Overall we had a wonderful time at Zoetry Casa del Mar and would definitely recommend this beautiful place with its lovely staff!

We traveled to the Zoetry Casa Del Mar to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We absolutely loved this resort. It is has gorgeous views, incredible staff, service and our room was perfect. It is not your typical all-inclusive as all the food is ala-carte. Everything was delicious. We met people from all over the world here. It is easy to do because it is such a small resort. Most we met were celebrating an anniversary or were on their honeymoon. We are in our mid 40's and felt a little on the older side here.

We arrived at the airport and were bombarded with time share people. We quickly got out of that area and went to find a cab. A little crazy, but we were finally on our way to our resort. (Cab driver tried to get us to do a time-share presentation too). We just said "no thank you". Might be a good idea to arrange transportation with resort before arriving. After that, we got to the Zoetry and it was like walking into a serene, spa. The concierge staff handed us cucumber/strawberry water and told us we could eat lunch while they got our room ready. Lino came and got us at the restaurant and showed us to our room. We walked in and it smelled wonderful. Like fresh flowers. Looked around and they had put spa music on the television, rose petals in the shape of a heart around our tub and we had an oceanfront room. We had champagne on ice, a fruit plate, a bottle of tegula with salt and limes in our room. A full refrigerator with beers, juices and sodas. Knew we were gonna love this place!!! Everything continued to be wonderful on our too short 4 day trip.

The location is great. You can not swim in the ocean here, but can walk a short walk down the beach and swim at the Hilton beach. You can also walk next door to Dreams and use all of their facilities as well. We went to the fire show our last night and it was great. Met our friends from Zoetry there and had a great time. That same night we walked the beach back to hotel and wanted to hang out with our friends in the bar at Zoetry. It was closing (was late). They ended up staying open for us and even kept checking on us and seeing if we needed anything. Gave us several bottles of wine and a chiller to put it in. Unbelievable service and friendly staff!!! Would tuck your towels in lounge chairs at the upper pool and put umbrellas up for you at both pools. Always checking to see if you needed anything. Pool water temperature was perfect too. Not too warm and not too cold. How do they do that? Wow. Always could get a lounge chair anywhere and they were very cushy and comfortable.

All the food is incredible, we especially liked the shrimp quesdilla, chicken fajitas, chips and guac, blueberry stuffed pancakes, tortilla soup. The ribeye was declicious as well. The setting on the beach is so relaxing at night for dinner. Can hear the waves crashing as you are eating. The upstairs restaurant was very romantic. Made our anniversary dinner very special with a dessert with "happy anniversary" written on it. Very nice! Thank you Juan Diego!

We did one excursion into town to shop and see the arches. What a great time! We went with two other couples and had dinner at Alexanders on the marina, rented a boat and Carlos (our captain) took us right next to the arches. The sun was setting and it was so amazing!! After our cruise, we went to Cabo Wabo. Fun town! Watched a football game after that at the Upside Down Bar on the marina. Highly recommend going into town. About a 15 minute cab ride.

I could go on and on. Just go. You will not regret it! We are planning on making it an annual trip every year for our anniversary. Hope to meet up with the great people we met on our stay and make it an annual event for them too!!

My new husband and I usually enjoy very active vacations which involve exploration, trying new things and lots of activities. However, following our marriage, we didn't quite have enough vaca time stored up to feel like we could have such a honeymoon. Thus we pursued this amazing all inclusive...excuse me, I mean endless priveleges, in Cabo (which at least for us was a quick 2 hour flight back and forth from home).

We did nothing but lounge in/around the pool, drink great topshelf cocktails, and enjoy the food (which we both very much enjoyed!) Surprisingly to us, we LOVED it! In fact, we are definitely considering going back.

There are activities that you can purchase to do around the area (golf, boating etc) but we didn't even feel the need to consider it.

Just a word of advice, don't get caught up in the time share spiels either at the airport or at the hotels. The Zoetry doesn't ever push it, but everywhere else certainly does, so if you travel over to the sister resort the Dreams you will get approached.
