Palapas Resort

I was staying at Palapas in the beginning October 2013. It was very beautiful and close to the beach. It is landscaped with large coco palms and various flowers. There is a second story swimming pool with panoramic views of the ocean. John was very helpful and there are restaurants close by. The beach is only a short 5 minute walk with save swimming. I love the place and want to visit Palapas again soon!

The perfect place to stay close to San Jose del Cabo but still in a tipical fishers town. Close to the beach and near to the brand new Marina of Puerto Los Cabos. You can easily walk to cozy restaurants like The Drunk Sailor and The Container, and prices are also nice! The owner, John, is always willing to help and to make your stay more confortable.

We stay for 3 nights but we' re prettty shure we'll como back for more!!

More Beautiful and incredible

This is the second time I’ve vacationed at ‘Palapas’. John has done an amazing job with Palapas. He is always creating an even more magical place to stay. I have such a great time when I’m there. It’s so easy to go to town because the bus stops in front of Palapas. The beach is only a 5-minute walk away and I love the restaurants that are so close. I also love cooking at Palapas. There are three kitchens in the compound and beautiful coconut trees and palms with flowers growing everywhere. There is even a ping-pong table that is lighted at night. The place is just beautiful and the accommodations are very nice. John has made improvements to the bathrooms and has also made Casa Mango the option of two separate rentals if you just want to rent just the upper or lowers floors with beautiful ocean views! He keeps the grounds very nice and has his helper Mario come in every day to make sure everything is just right. I love ‘Palapas’ and the area where it’s located. It’s just perfect for my friends and me :)

I have stayed at Palapas 3 times now and I keep going back! We like to fish the famous Gordo Banks on the Pangas out of the new Marina (ask for Tomas Cantor). We stay in Casa Mango and it's like having our own private mexican villa for a week! The owner John is great.. He is there if you need him for anything.. He even arranged a freezer and a vacuum packer for our tuna we caught! Great guy. We love the security of staying there and the close access to the beach and fishing, only a few minutes to town. We also like to be able to cook our own food and make our lunches in the full kitchen. The view from the upstairs suite is killer..

I've known this place for couple of years now. Puts you in a right spot to get to know famous Los Cabos outside the mainstream tourist area. Right on the beach; part of an authentic fishing village yet with very easy access to all commodities within 5 min drive. Due to Palapa's tropical garden, it feels like a zen oasis in the middle of rough desert environment, so typical for Baja California Sur.

My husband and I stayed at Palapas Resort for 4 nights in January 2013. John was very welcoming and helpful. We rented a cabana which was tiny but clean and functional. The size was not a problem given that the grounds have plenty of common space including an outdoor kitchen, patio tables/chairs, hammocks, and an elevated infinity pool. The beach is about a 10 minute walk away, as are a few neighbourhood restaurants and convenience stores. Downtown San Jose is about a 30 minute walk (which is a bit of a trek in the heat) or you can take the city bus which takes a few minutes and stops right by Palapas. This is a great place if you are looking for something other than the traditional hotel experience.

We were two couple who stayed for four nights in May. We were very pleased with the accommodations. We were the only guests there. It was very peaceful and at night you were lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves. The Palapas resort is very close to the beach and within walking distance to a couple of good restaurants. The public bus goes right by the front entrance so it was very easy and cheap to get into town. We would highly recommend Palapas Resort for anyone who wants a bit of "local" flavor instead of the tourist resorts. We will definitely stay here again if we come back to San Jose Del Cabo.
