My wife and I need one extra night near the airport. I had heard of this small group of palapas on Trip Advisor. I was intrigued and called Osa the interesting Sweedish owner. She had an opening and we took it.
Comming from the Hilton with all the amenities to this tiny palapa was an Adventure. The small {town} Pueblo La Playa was what this area was in years past (minus the new marina). Osa was quick to point out that she had engaged the weathy developers (Probably at great risk to her own personal safety)to save the locals homes. (She is a fiesty old gal). Her stories were quite interesting and we were mesmerised listening for quite some time.
We were only here one night with an early 5 am exit to the nearby airport (20 min). This small property on the edge of the Ocean next the light house and Marina is relatively easy to find. From the town square in San Jose you simply cross over the Estuary bridge going toward the Los Puertos Golf course and after 3 small roundabouts on excellent roads you come to Pueblo La Playa. Everyone knows where the Dolphin Blanco is in this very small town. Its probably only a 5/10 min drive from the san Jose town square on excellent roads.
Our only regret is that we only had one night to stay in this quaint palapa. We so much enjoyed speaking to Osa and listening to her struggle with the big money to stop the Marina and save her neighbors. She involved Greenpeace and othe organizations. I would have loved to walked this tiny town, beach,Marina, and had lunch or breakfast at the small restaurants and bars there. Do come, but dont expect an onsite restaurant/Spa. This is a vacation of the past. Enjoy it for what it is. Im sure with the development this small oasis will be gone in the future, and only pleasant memories will remain.

Room Tip: Only 3 to choose from. All are very clean with good a/c.

My husband and I stayed our first night in Baja at El Delfin Blanco this past December. We were looking for a place that made us feel like we were in Baja and not a large hotel that could be anywhere. We chose correct, the hotel was tranquil and we loved the thatch roofs!
From the hotel you were overlooking the ocean. It was also a short walk to the beach and restaurants. The area was quiet and locals in the neighborhood were friendly when we walked around the night we arrived and the next day.
Osa was a fabulous host. She was very friendly and helpful with places to eat, road directions and anything else we asked. She went out of our way to make sure we knew where anything we needed was, even driving with us to show us the way. We had rented a car through Thrifty that we had picked up at the airport for our three week trip. We were concerned it was not the right car. Luckily Osa works for Thrifty and she was able to call the office, change our reservation for a 4wheel vehicle, get a much better price and have the office come to the hotel to switch out the rental. We will always rent our car through Osa and recommend you do too! It is the only way to get the best price and the best car for your plans.
This was the start of a great trip, we will be back the next time we are in Baja!

I have been to el delfin blanco twice and both times had a great experience. Osa, the owner, is fantastic and values the personal experience vs. the corporate resorts that are going up in her backyard. the location is great if you want convenience but off-the-beaten path. the courtyard is magical. great restaurants nearby. can't recommend highly enough!

We stayed here two nights at the start of our Baja adventure and were pleasantly surprised by the warmth of Osa, the lovely Swedish owner, and the charm of the bungalows. There were three bungalows set around a sweet private garden, we went for the mid-price option which was comfortable and clean and had much-needed air con.

Osa was happy to recommend the local restaurants which were a five minute walk into the small 'village'. Options were quite limited but all seemed to serve nice food. As we were the only guests we had to find our own breakfast but apparently when more guests are there Osa prepares Swedish pancakes. The town itself is tiny, but set in the new marina which is home to plenty of flash looking yachts and boats.

The lovely deserted beach is a small stroll away, and you get a great view from the rooftop of the bungalow. There is an area you can swim in but the waves are quite rough along the main stretch of sand. Osa recommended the best snorkelling beaches to us in San Jose del Cabo and even after we had left she kindly recommended some of Baja's best spots to us on email.

The only problem was finding El Delfin Blanco as its set quite far out of town, but it's well worth the drive if you have your own car and want to avoid the Cabo crowds

You feel like a family guest in a palapa suite with the ocean right across the way. Clean and comfortable, air conditioned, communal kitchen. Great views from the roof patios and a comfortable courtyard. San Jose Del Cabo El Centro district provides great food and shopping. We used this hotel on our way in and out of San Jose Del Cabo during our trip to Cabo Pulmo for a wonderful dive vacation.
