Royal Solaris Los Cabos
Ranked #20 of 43 Hotels in San Jose del Cabo
Reviewed 10 July 2011

been to several all inclusives all over mexico, and i have to say this one is in the top three. I always say that any hotel in Mexico is a hit and miss, and i consider this a hit. Now it wasn't my first choice of hotel, but since I only paid 543 from vancouver direct with air canada vacations I couldn't be to picky.
It is a small hotel, not one of those giants like the gran bahia or the grand siriens I've stayed at.
From the airport a 15 min bus ride
Check is was quick, right off the bat they gave me a king size bed, and I\ needed two as i was travelling with my 16 year old son, and it was changed before even finishing check in.
Room was large , clean, and free of the typical musty smell.
Bathroom has a fan it in, wow was a bonus, thats a first. No bathtub just a shower, fine with me. ocean view rooms you pay 30 bucks a night for, i couldnt be bothered as i dont spend time in there anyhoo. it comes with a mini fridge, beer ,water and colas.
free internet in the lobby, but you have to pay 70 dollars a week if you want it in your room.
beach towels ,you just sign out, not towel card required.
large open lobby, with a bar, and a small disco floor, no actually disco which was a bit disapointing.
They have a seperate room ,theatere, air condition room space where they have nightly shows, that are really very good, I was pleasently surprised, and you eat dinner while you watch the show.
The drinks are plentiful and tasty, they have a board with all the drinks they make by the beach bar. the one thing i found was that they are not consistant, one drink can be fab, the next one too strong, the next to weak, than fab , so once you find a bar tender that makes your drink just right go back to him.
Food is plentiful , and tasty, again i was pleasantly surprised. Yes is more or less the same thing nightly, but its always cooked differently, chicken, steak, beef, pork, fish, really what else are you expecting
IT is located on the beach and there is plenty of it, the sand is a bit rough so wear shoes if you so require, and it gets really hot too.
As far as swimming you cant , but you can play in the waves and body surf, and although they have black and red flags out , several of us did go in, its more calm in the morning. Yes the pull back is strong, so if your not steady on your feet , don`t do it. Please don`t let your little ones play and you sit on the beach, thats stupid and you will regret it. Dont go any farther than waist deep, once the wave comes it will be up to your neck, it stays quite shallow for some distance but stay closer to shore, don`t be stupid, and remember its goinng it at your own risk. Having said that we had a great time, but my 16 year old whos is a fab swimming got into some trouble with pull back and was scared enough to stay within feet of the shore after getting himself back to shore,, you have been warned.
The ocean was nice and toasty.
Love the adult pool, quite, warm, and shaded by 3 ish, and it had its own bar tender and waiter.
I like that you could go into the snack bar and beach resturant and bring your food back to your pool chair.
Lots of pool chairs and beach chairs to go round.
Didn`t go in the big pool, lots of little kids.
THey have the most amazing play park and water slides set up for the kids.
No weddings the week i was here.. I wouldn`t have a wedding here at this hotel, its way more for familys with kids than lovers thats for sure.
They have a gym i didn`t visit, they have a pool table and ping pong as well.
Played a lot of beach volleyball.
Ok so trips, we took a 5 dollar cab to san jose del cabo, typical mexican town, did some shopping, walked up a long hill to walmart, about 15 min walk from the main street in town, did some looking around , its very expensive, than walked to a store called mega, about 5 mins from walmart, walking on the mainroad that is outfront walmart, its teh main road between san jose and cabo, just walk towards cabo and you`ll find mega on the left. bought are booze here, as it was on sale and turned out to be cheeper than at the airport. From Mega we walked back to the hotel, as you leave the mega lot, look behind the store you will see water, walk down this road ,till you get to the round about, turn left and walk to the hotel, about 10 mins from the mega, we enjoyed the walk, due to the huge assortment of different catus everywhere in the meridian.
Point to note, that just at the round about, if you look to the right you will see the barcello, across the street is a building, where they hold disco a couple nights a week, ask at the solaris what nights, they will tell you, and walk there as a group. drinks are all inclusive here from 10 till 1. It is perfectly safe to walk everywhere , we had no problems, in fact rarely came across anyone,
We jet skied for one hour with transportation for 100 dollars , one jet ski between the two of us . It was great fun, but the beach they take you to is lovely and very safe for swimming so plan to make the day of it here. lovely warm, clear, aqua waters. just up the street , before the boat in the road, is a tiny place selling parisailing for 20 bucks, we had no money left, but this is a bargin.
WE also took the ulitmate beach hopping tour, was 63 bucks and 5 bucks for transport per person booked online, this was an excellent time, the jet boat was a great ride and the driver was a hoot, made sure to hit lots of waves, and sprayed us on several occasions for fun. .Good snorkling, lots of fish, great beachs.
Lovers beach tour included and she was great pointing out all these natural accuring sculptures, like a witch hat, a soilder, scooby doo and so forth, it was really cool. and she was happy to take photos of us for free.
The trip from our hotel to cabo san lucus via shuttle was 20 mins or so, by bus its 45 and costs 3 bucks per person, and is perfectly safe.
cab to cabo is 35 , return is 50 , just heads up.
We stopped in at burger king for soft serve ice cream
town is typically of any mexico town. they dont barter here very much, and stick to their prices. especially on the days the cruise ships are in..We enjoyed walking the marina and seeing all the assorted fish in the waters.
All in all I have to say that Cabo in general is much more expensive , but it is my fav place to date, and I|ve travelled to loads of mexican resorts and destination beach side..
In had a really good time at the solaris, met wonderful folk from canada, any vacation is what you make of it, so go and have a good time you can't be dissapointed unless you have outrageous expectations.
Yes there are mexicans at the resort, duh your in mexico!.
Service was second to none.
Beds are hard, ask for a topper they will bring it to you.
Yes they cater a lot to their timeshare members , but that would be a given I would think.
Anyhoo, have questions, feel free to ask.
think both pools are salt water, but they were both toasty and the hot tub was way to hot for me

Let me start at the beginning: The pick up at the airport was disorganized. We had to finally take a cab to the hotel.
Spent at least 1 hr with a guest representative,,,that was too long esp after a 5 hr flight,, they can cut that and make it a better experience.
Rooms are nice and clean, good bathrooms.
Good service staff, pleasant, polite and helpful and cheerfull
Food is good too, a lot of variety, Be careful though, if you want to dine at the restaurants in the evening , it would be a good idea to call at least a week before you arrive. There is a good chance of you not getting any reservations if you dont !!!!!!!!!!!!
Activities: The beach is NOT safe for swimming !!!!!! not mentioned on the website but found out when we landed !
Strongly recommend the glass bottom tour with snorkeling and the Zip line ! its just awesome ! Every above the age of 8 yrs SHOULD do it !

Me and my wife just returned from a wonderful honeymoon at the Royal Solaris. Overall, it was a wonderful resort that we both said we will gladly return. Our rep Marcelino was wonderful, he helped us the entire time we were there. There is some pressure to join their club and it's really from the time you enter the airport. We did sit through the 2 hour presentation, said no the entire time, to receive a couple of free gifts.

The resort was clean throughout our stay. We did have an issue with the maid arriving very late on our second day there to clean our room but after that there were no problems. The food wasn't 5 star food but we always found something good to eat on the resort. You aren't going to get premium brand alcohol but it's free so it's what you should expect. The pool was nice and a good way to spend hours cooling down. We did have a camera stolen poolside which really upset us. We ate at one of the specialty restaurants, Marco Polo, and the food was FANTASTIC! Only downfall was it was the first time I had tiramasu that didn't taste good.

The resort is on the quiet side of Cabo, San Jose Del Cabo, so it was perfect for us as we were not down there to party. We did take a trip to Cabo San Lucas for a glass bottom boat ride and lunch. After about 3 hours in Cabo San Lucas, we were ready to go back to the peace and quiet of San Jose.

Great resort and a wonderful time. Advice: bring a few singles with you. Tips aren't expected so a couple dollars to the servers really help you out.

Cesar was our rep. and went above amd beyond in taking care of us. He showed us around San Jose, got me a discount on my shirt, helped me glue my sandal back together, took wonderful care of my family and I. Room was excellent with view of the beach, pools were great for cooling off, as were the bars. Cruise to Lands End (the Arches) was fantastic, though the water was too green for good snorkeling. Good food with excellent wait staff. Angel was our waiter and took very good care of us (coffee and bacon from the kitchen!). Bring about $40 in one dollar bills, really is worth tipping for the excellent service at this all inclusive! Would go back today if we could!

Service was great and everyone very friendly. Cesar, our Rep. was outstanding, waiters, hostess, maids & all staff made our stay very comfortable . We were there for our 35th Wedding Anniv. 6/4/11 for 1 week and had a great vacation. Some minor issues: rooms on the 1st floor had musty smell, parents let their children, including preschoolers, take over the dance floor at night. Thought it was strange to be at a bar with all the kids. At first it was cute watching them dance but they were also running on stage and getting in the way of the waitress and parents couldn't control their kids. Sales presentation was 3 hrs. instead of 90 min. and we got swindled at the airport. Even though we read the instructions on who to go with for our ride to the resort, the reps at the airport made it seem we had to first stop at the booth and they were going to help us. Hotel was gracious enough to make up for the $60 we lost and only regret having to go to presentation. Rep. printed out info. sheet showing how our timeshare value lost half its value and made us feel uncomfortable when we wouldn't sell our timeshare to them and buy there's and end up having monthly payments. Also, Sat. night show after dinner is boys vs. girls and was like being in grade school. The rest of the shows were much better. Overall, great vacation and immaculate facilities and beautiful scenery.

We just returned from Royal Solaris yesterday, we stayed from June 22 - June 26. Overall the hotel was very nice and we werent bothered once by the time share people. We had a great vacation! The beach was nice even though you cant swim there. We never had a problem finding a chair at the pool and the pool was kept very clean. The hotel did not seem very crowed, which was very nice. There are vendors on the beach but if you tell them "No Thank You" they are respectful of that and dont bother you.

We did the massages on the beach for 45 minutes and was worth every penny, highly recommend this!

Our maid was wonderful. Our room was 415 and we had a view of the ocean from our balcony! The bed was really hard and the a/c was very noisy, made sleeping very difficult.

The food and bar service were just average. We did eat at the speciality restuarant and were disappointed. The buffet was not anything special but typical buffet food. The guacamole and salsa were tasty!

The Resort does provide a round trip shuttle to and from Cabo for $16 person was very easy to do. Also a cab into San Jose is $5, and the walk back wasnt that bad. Great way to see the town of San Jose.

Overall we had a great vacation. This is not a five star resort but if looking for a trip on a value this is a great place to go, not sure if we will try Royal Solaris again, but definitly happy with our stay.

My wife and i stayed at this resort and really enjoyed ourselves. The room was clean and spacious. The food was pretty average but for the price of the all inclusive you can't complain! The drinks were afantastic! Our favorite part of the resort was the "Omelet Lady" at the breakfast buffet! we would come back in the future!

Room Tip: Book in off season to save money on the AI rates!
