“Excellent Resort for all ages of people who love action.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2012

The action at the Royal Solaris is non-stop. Fourteen of us stayed at the Resort for a graduation party and everyone had a super fun time. Francia and Noel were our Guest Representatives and were outstanding in planning our week and making sure our group was aware of all the activities the resort offers. I recommend taking some time to get to know the staff as it will go a long way to maximizing the enjoyment of your stay. It's amazing how all ages in our group (from the little kids, to teenagers, to grandparents) equally had a wonderful time. I also like the fact that the Resort is located near the brand new marina in Cabo San Jose where we chartered boats for deep sea fishing. We have been vacationing at the Royal Solaris since 2007 and each year it gets better.

Room Tip: Ocean View Rooms also overlook the pool where most of the fun activities take place daily.

After searching for a place in Los Cabos we came up to an all inclusive at RS which was VERY disappointing. There are a number of good reviews but it may be from timeshare owners, which is what this resort is about. Their main focus is "selling" time shares. The service was mediocre at best and the construction was old and dirty. The resort is in a great location but it stops there!!! All activities and swimming beaches are far away, prepare to spend 30 min each way and pay 30-40 USD taxi cabs.
We asked for a Non-Smoking Room but ashtrays were everywhere - smoke got into the room from outside every night. The Deluxe partial Ocean View means the back of the Hotel (do not get FOOLED). You get tagged as cow…..your bracelet cost 70dls if you lost it and tells the crew the service they will give you. Tips are included in the all-inclusive; however, if you do not give tips you won’t be offered any drinks (which are also included). Included meals? You have to call between 9am and 3pm to get a reservation on a restaurant and what they call full reserved is 5 families when they still have 20-25 available tables. Happened the first night, we were so hungry and because we promised go to the time share presentation we got a table at 8:00pm and previously they said that there were no more tables available…at time that we got in, there were plenty of tables empty add to this that the best dishes in the menu are only for members and you have to pay the difference ….so either you stay to fight for a reservation at dinner time or you go to Cabo San Lucas to enjoy your time there. We choose option 2… and we end up eating at the Mexican buffet all the time. Food is ok but not the best. We also learned that all the non-members get only the crappy drinks. We over heard one of the “time share” tours and they said that members got the good quality drinks. The entertainment group is great and the service is ok, again as long as you tip.

Room Tip: My best tip ….Try a different resort!!!!!!

We stayed at the Royal Solaris as of the 28th of June. It was by far the worst resort that we have ever stayed at. This so called 4 1/2 star resort is at best a 2 star. It was dirty, staff were unfriendly and the food quality was horrible.... not to mention the cockroaches that were scurrying around the restaurant bathrooms. We were so disgusted by the place that we changes resorts on the third morning of a seven day stay. Thankfully there is a gorgeous resort next door which was our salvation.

This is the 4th time that we choose Royal Solaris for our vacay stay
We were there from 06/22 to 06/29 2012 for our 27th wedding anniversary
we like this hotel because is not a huge resort .
There is room for improvement in this company . the first one is the food @ the buffets
Breackfast is always good, you know , your basic brkfst items .We particularly enjoy the juice bar
The dinner buffets can deff have some improvement
Room was always cleaned daily and mini fridge refilled on daily basis too
location is great . About 15-20 min from airport and walking distance ( or running , in our case ) from down town San Jose and from a small shopping center where you will find a beauty salon , cleaners, Starbucks , MC Donald's and La Mega ( super market )

We really keeps bringing me and my husband back to this resort is not location , is not price , is def. NOT the food but the resort STAFF . Best ever !
They always always make us feel VERY appreciated . They really value our business . Every one is very attentive and they really seem to enjoy the job @ Solaris
Special mention to Capitan Victor and Martin @ the brkfst buffet . Alejandro @ the beach kept our drinks coming non stop ( very well prepared too )
Ramon @ the pool area . Always smiling and willing to help .
Paco and Baldemar @ Marco Polo . The lady @ the towels by the pool , I think her name was Tere
Every one @ the front desk , very nice , polite and helpful
Overall we really enjoy this resort and will definitively be back for more fun !

Room Tip: do not go for the Garden view . too much noise

All in all had a good experience at this hotel. The hotel was very clean and a short ride (15 min) from the airport. Everyone was very accomodating, especially Jonathan Franco, who took care of our family for all our dinners and activities. The timeshare presentation was a drag - but that was expected. If your not interesting in buying one, do not get suckered into going because of all the "free" stuff being offered to you. You will waste your day inside instead of taking advantage of the wonderful pools / beach activities outside. The food was average. Some nights, the buffet food was better than the actual restaurants you needed reservations for. Breakfast was the best, big props to Lucy on the omelette station. She was wonderful every morning. The girls at the Kids Mini Club were also wonderful ... my kids practically begged me every morning to go back for their daily activities. If you have a young family and want to visit Los Cabos, this is the place to stay.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this all inclusive resort for a quick 3 day getaway. We were very impressed by the resort it itself. It was beautiful and well kept. The food however was not very good at all. They weren't very many organized activities on the grounds and the one restaurant with decent food was always booked (the Italian). The employees are very friendly and always willing to help. Be ware of the people on the beach that are selling. I totally understand that they need to make a living too but it was a bit too much at times. The drinks were a little watered down but you could always ask for extra liquor without any issues. All in all this was worth the price. Just needs bit of tweaking here and there. Good resort for kids :)

Room Tip: Ocean view is the best but most of the other rooms are good

Great hotel for the star rating.
The good -
The WEATHER!! - after 100F in DC - stepping onto the 75-80 with virtually no humidity was amazing!
Short ride from the airport
After a temporary stay in a lower floor - we were given a great room on the 6th floor with an amazing view.
Staff is super friendly and most of them go the extra mile. Worth the mention - Daniel by the pool, Lucy the omlette lady (she is hilarious), another lady at the lobby (don't remember her name) who got me yummy peanuts without me asking as I was engrossed in my iPad.
The freshly cooked right off the hot plate soft tacos (tres bien) - they served it at the buffet place down the stairwell from the lobby
Estuary down the street from the hotel - great place for bird watchers - very diverse ecosystem
Downtown San Jose del Cabo - lookout for yummy churros by the raised stage as the street turns.
Todos Santos - a quaint little town artound 90 minutes away - do visit if you have time and are open to renting a car
Chilleno Bay - public beach and great place for (FREE :-)) snorkelling around 15 minutes from the hotel - I am pretty sure there is a bus that can take you there - but if you rent a car its hop skip and jump.
High tide los cabos - kayaking and snorkelling - http://www.hightideloscabos.com/ - very well run tour - highly recommended - the kayaking was awesome! Sergio and Ricardo were very good tour guides.
Amigos ATV tours - arrange through the hotel.

The "not so good" - (not many to list)
The location - just another hotel on a strip of hotels
The choice of "specialty" restaurants was limited and the food (in them) was OK at best. That being said they were very accomodating and upon our request moved our reservation to an earlier time at short notice.

Overall - all I can say - its hard not to fall in love with this paradise of a place :-) It was very hard to leave and get on the plane back. I know this review is about the hotel but I (almost) have only good things to say about Royal Solaris - the stay was very comfortable - the staff is great.

Thank you Royal Solaris.

Room Tip: Just ask for the top most floor - as simple as that if you have opted for the "ocean view"
