Just spent 5 nights at El Ganzo, and overall had a lovely time. Wasn't perfect, but was very good.

The positives:
- Love the setting of the rooftop pool and glass-walled jacuzzi (which we affectionately called "the lobster tank"). Gorgeous views of the marina and ocean. On our last morning up there, we saw whales breaching, out at a distance. Poolside attendants were attentive and very nice.
- Rooms were very nice. A bit on the smaller side, but plenty big for us.
- Cool design and feel to the place
- Enjoyed the Saturday evening concert on the roof. Also had fun chatting with the musicians several times throughout the week. Nice guys.
- Staff was uniformly friendly, helpful.
- Nice gym, with several high-tech multi-exercise resistance machines, several bikes, treadmills etc, with view of water.
- The ground level pool is very lap-swimmable, which we did a couple of times.
- We enjoyed mixing up our lounging time between the rooftop pool and the beach, which is a short, free, on-call boat ride away from the hotel. We never waited for more than a few minutes for the boat, going in either direction.

The negatives:
- Noise was an issue for several nights. Our first night there (a Friday), there was live music in the downstairs restaurant, which went well into the evening. We were exhausted and wanted to go to sleep early, but were kept up by the music. That same night-- or actually early the next morning, at about 5am-- were awakened by what sounded like the world's biggest bathtub being drained right over our heads. Since we were on the 3rd floor, right below the pool and jacuzzi (in room 308), I suspected it was related to that. Indeed, when I threw clothes on and went up and inspected things, there was a worker doing pool maintenance-- checking chemistry strips, with the water spilling over from the jacuzzi to the pool below it. We asked to move the next day and had no further such problems. There was a DJ on the roof deck on Satuday night, but in our new room that was further away from that end of the hotel, the music that continued after we went to bed wasn't loud enough to bother us. The doors to the rooms aren't very sound proof, and we were awakened by other guests in the hallway a few times. Given that there weren't many guests present while we were there, I could imagine that this could be more of an issue if it were more crowded.
- Food quality could be improved. We enjoyed our breakfasts in the restaurant, and snacks that we had at the Container restaurant on the beach, but the one dinner we had in the main restaurant (our first night, shortly after arrival) was decidedly lackluster. None of the 4 entrees we had was great, and one or two were really quite subpar.
- The rooftop pool was a bit too cold to be comfortable. Kind of a shame, because it is such a beautiful setting. There are several underwater bar stools adjacent to the swim up bar, but I never once saw anyone occupying them, presumably because it was just too chilly. I'm a bit cold water averse and spent very little time in the pool. Others in our group would use it to cool off, but not for too long. The jacuzzi/lobster tank was pleasantly warm, but not hot. The ground level pool was a bit warmer than the roof top one, but still not warm enough for my tastes, though it was very comfortable for lap swimming.
- Location is a bit isolated. This could be a positive, I suppose, but be prepared to spend a few pesos on cabs to get into town (eg for dinner) and back.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. This is currently a very good property that has the potential to be a great one.

I almost don't want tell you how incredible El Ganzo is to keep it hidden-- but it's just too great of a hotel experience! If you want a relaxing vacation and the idea of traditional Cabo san Lucas, this place offers such a wonderful and chill experience.

My husband and I are in our late 20s/early 30s, and we loved this hotel. Puerto Los Cabos, currently, is a sleepy harbor town. Most places close early, so if you are looking for a crazy party, then this is not your hotel. If you are looking to relax in style and comfort then, by all means, read my thorough review. There were many amazing aspects of our stay, and a just a few disappointing parts. Thus, the four and not five star rating. We really wanted to give Ganzo five stars, but as the other reviews said, the food is a rough spot.

Upon arrival we were blown away with the location and design of the hotel. Ganzo is definitely catering to our age group, among others. Lots of live music throughout the stay. We were not greeted with specialty drinks, but we saw many other guests who were. Not that big of a deal, we were there way before check in and they had a room ready for us within five minutes of our early arrival. Rafael at the front desk was kind and very accommodating. He set up several experiences for us including a great cooking class at an organic farm, Los Tamarindos.

Our room was comfortable, clean and the bed was amazing. Seriously, amazing. We had a first floor room with a jacuzzi on the patio. There is not a ton of privacy, but it was totally worth it. Being that it was December, the jacuzzi was a perfect way to end the day and watch the sunset. We also watched the sun set from the fourth floor roof jacuzzi, which was picture perfect. The roof pool is breathtaking and is one of the top 50 pools in the world or some crazy award like that.

Across the harbor is a beach club, owned by Ganzo, with great service and expensive but great food. Lots of ceviche and basic Mexican faire. They rent paddle boards and all kinds of other gear to enjoy the private beach. The hotel rents bikes, and I recommend renting them. Make sure to explore a couple other small cafes, bars and eateries on the streets surrounding the hotel. You will want to explore the "town," because the food options at the hotel leave a bit to be desired. Don't go to the downstairs restraint for dinner, it is overpriced, not that good, and it seems like the staff need more direction. They are very nice, but it was more of an experience to laugh at than to remember fondly, forever.

Instead of eating downstairs, go to the following places:
1. El Marino Borracho/The Drunken Sailor- this place has a Caribbean feel and dishes like coconut rice, fried plantains, etc. you will want to come back again and again for the tacos chino.
2. La Marina Cafe and bar (located directly behind Ganzo) has wonderful, more reasonably priced food. The chef cooking breakfast and lunch was the head chef at the Palmilla for 15 years; his huevos rancheros, well lets say, I will dream about them until I come back to El Ganzo. The chef cooking dinner trained under the other chef for 20 years, so I am sure his food is just as good.
3. The Container, owned by Ganzo. Great food, awesome view, kind staff, and live music.
There are other amazing places to eat, and you should try them until Ganzo gets their kitchen/downstairs act together.

There is coffee in the rooms, but Ganzo would benefit from a complementary coffee/tea station in the lobby. I drink tea, and I was left without. Truly, not that expensive for the hotel and it would make the morning much more pleasant for all types of caffeine drinkers. I am saying this more for the hotel than other guests, since they are still working out their nuances.

I truly recommend this place, even with the food situation. The town is small, relaxed and we were able to have a truly unique and beautiful experience. We are already planning our next visit.

After spending a week in Cabo San Lucas, El Ganzo was a nice getaway from it all. Situated on a small seaport currently being developed (with a little controversy from the locals - some love the new looks and business, some think it takes away from their small coastal village), El Ganzo isn't the place to go hang on the beach (but they do have a little one that is private if you want), but they have an amazing pool with beautiful views.

They have tons of perks (design being one of them), like a great restaurant, live music, restaurant and recording studio if you want, cabs are easy to get (you'll need one or a car to get anywhere), service is really nice (a little awkward sometimes). The rooms were really nice, definitely on the small side....but super comfy and hip.

We loved the little fish taco place down the street (walking) - El Borracha I believe. Vietnamese style Baja Mexican food. So good, and the owners are really nice and speak both Spanish and English.

I would skip Cabo next time, start at El Ganzo and continue up the coast to find more gems like this.

Hotel El Ganzo was a magical experience for a long weekend getaway with my wife. Priding itself on music and art, it accomplishes an amazing vibe that is as much LA/NY music scene as it is beach getaway. Food was fabulous, setting on a marina and beach unique, and service was very good. Strongly recommend it.

Room Tip: The regular rooms are very nice but smallish. They have a few suites which are spacious but expensive.
