If you are looking for a quiet boutique hotel this is it. Beautiful location overlooking the marina with exceptional design quality, wonderful amenities, comfortable beds, friendly staff. We stayed for 6 days and ate breakfast and lunch at the hotel, ate in town at night. I would agree with other reviewers the food was average. The movie night on Wednesday, live music at night, bikes available for use, beach club, free bottle of wine in the room at check in along with soda, water and beer stocked daily in your room at no extra charge were all nice touches. Rooftop pool spectaular! Overall a great stay...will be back!

Room Tip: All rooms face the ocean so all good

We were looking for a place away from the noise of Cabo San Lucas, and without the hustle of a time share. Hotel El Ganzo ended up being perfect! The staff was very attentive to my wife and I, and the place is simply gorgeous down to every detail including the VERY comfortable bedding.

From what we read in other's reviews, we didn't end up eating at the hotel other than some sushi while up on the roof top pool deck (which was good). So we can't comment on the food at El Ganzo. But I would like to thanks the previous reviewer who recommended the Taco Chino at the Drunken Sailer just up the street. Really good! We also had breakfast at The Container across the marina, which is owned by the hotel apparently, which was really good. We'd also recommend the Tropicana Inn in downtown San Jose for dinner. It was awesome!

The live music played at the hotel was great. I wish it was scheduled more often, and I wish the recording studio was active (or at least open to check out) while we were there. I also really enjoyed their hotel TV channel that plays artists recording in their studio, but the loop doesn't take long before you are hearing the same artists over and over.

My only complaints might be that the hot tub isn't hot enough, the pool is a little cool, and the wifi is very slow. And don't expect anything other than US prices for food and drinks, as it isn't a cheap get away.

Room Tip: We took the Standard Suite, which was up on the 3rd floor with a gorgeous balcony. We were told roo...

We stayed three nights at El Ganzo and wished we could have stayed longer. The staff was so nice, spacious gym, great spa, awesome pool and really cool beach club.
The only downsides were the food was kind of so-so and the rooms were very small. We came with a lot of luggage because we had been in Cabo for a week already and there was no where to put our stuff. The closets are tiny and there isn't even full length to hang dresses. The "balcony" is also pretty pathetic as it is a small cube outside with no chairs.
That being said we had a great time not being in our room. We loved to spend mornings over at the beach on the hammocks and afternoons up at the pool on the very comfortable bed/lounges. Their cocktails are really good, and Alex, the upstairs waiter/bartender was the best we had all trip. We also loved that the hotel lets you take their bikes out to cruise around the area. There is a fun little restaurant down the way that we loved.
We would definitely come back, possibly go for a bigger room, and bring a lot less luggage.

We loved everything about this hotel! Our room was absolutely beautiful, and had a Jacuzzi on the balcony that looked over the marina. The staff was unbelievably friendly, and they helped us with bar and restaurant recommendations.

The hotel itself is absolutely perfect - it had a hip feel to it, while at the same time it was comfortable, new and inviting. The roof top pool was never too crowded, and we were always able to get seats (unlike at some Cabo hotels where you need to get to the pool at 8am and lay claim to a chair). There was even a swim up bar, which we took advantage of as much as possible.

The hotel itself is a short trip from San Jose - we had a car so we could drive into town (about a 5 minute drive); it is not really walkable. San Jose is a very cute town - it is more authentic than San Lucas, and had some really great restaurants and art galleries. There is enough to do in the area immediately surrounding the hotel to keep you busy for a couple of days if you decide not to rent a car (a few restaurants, a marina, bike riding, botanical gardens, etc.).

I would 100% recommend this hotel! We got home a few days ago and can't stop talking about El Ganzo!

Room Tip: I would recommend the rooms with a Jacuzzi on the balcony - it was so wonderful and relaxing at nigh...

Six night couples trip for 30 somethings. Hotel was spot on for just about everything:
The style of the hotel is hip without being annoying. From the exterior neon sign, the unique and enormous center-swivel entry door, stunning fountain, pimpin' rooftop pool with hottub, to the tasteful and simple room decor, it was hard to have anything to complain about aesthetically.
Service was friendly and prompt. I'm still missing Alex up at the rooftop pool. And the concierge, Rafael, really knows now to direct you to the right places. In fact, he found us an amazing authentic restaurant in Cabo, when I doubted it could be found.
Food, while not cheap, was quite good and certainly hit the spot.
This hotel is definitely not for all, but I love the fact that el ganzo is slightly off the beaten path. One night spent in Cabo, was more than enough to know that this hotel was better than anything in that annoying tourist area.
One thing I think they should have is a drink menu. Minor gripe to an otherwise exceedingly great stay. So great that we had very little reason to even leave the hotel.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are likely good since they all have ocean views.

This hotel is considered a boutique and offers all the qualities as such. Don't be misled by the dirt road that runs to the property. It is bumpy and runs along the adjacent marina's docks (check out a map on line). This is a gem of a place.

My wife and I were at the hotel for 5 nights and enjoyed all the amenities that previous reviewers sited- so I briefly make recommendations:

Food: restaurant on site is ok. it is convenient. But check out the drunken sailor and El Marina. The facades aren't calling you in but rest assured, the food is great. The Container restaurant is owned by the same developer; hence, a free ride is offered by the hotel otherwise it is too bad. see reviews on these and all are accurate, Ice cream at LaDolce across the street is nice end of day treat.

Cab: to Jan Jose averages $12. It would be appreciated if the hotel offered shuttle service to town but strong union cab services will prohibit this.

Other things to do. walk beach to new condo complex Secrets. The waves are awesome and whales can be seen from shore. The rooms overlook a section of the marina where local fisherman park their boats. At the end of their fishing day they clean their fish at cleaning stations provided in the marina. If you can stomach it go see the fisherman cleaning their fish. most are willing to sell their filets. You can take this fish to the hotel and for $16 they will prepare it for you. But the process was interesting.
Swim with teh dolphins- this is located in the marina across from the hotel. you can walk to it if desired.
Private beach- the pontoon boat takes you across the marina to the private area. It sounds like a nuisance but is anything but. Enjoy a Bloody or Cerveza with a lunch. The kitchen offers fresh ingredients. Try the hammocks for a great nap.
Whale Watching: OceanRiders- unbelievable results- see my review
TV: I'm technology challenged. The TV offers other capabilities other than the piped in sound track and TV. I played with the remote and discovered we had Internet service on the TV- a bit mundane to operate.
Beds- best I ever slept on! Down comforters and mattress pad were perfect!
Downside: Internet service simply sucks! The owner is looking into a new source but the daily log-in, in-out service is weak.
Other: the staff is outstanding! They each love their job and it shows.

Most of the previous reviews offer additional details and pretty accurate. Regardless, our stay was extremely relaxing and Hotel El Ganzo is to blame!

My husband and I wanted a quick get away, but did not want a big, over done resort with lots of families. Hotel El Ganzo was the perfect answer. It is one of the nicer boutique hotels that we have stayed in. It is decorated very artistically and well maintained. We stayed in the suite with it's own jacuzzi on the deck and it was delightful. The hotel has the most beautiful infinity pool overlooking the marina and the Sea of Cortez. The beach is also a wonderful hang out. The staff is so helpful and go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. Raphael, the concierge, is great - always smiling and knowledgeable. The restaurant was also very good - we ate there several nights and enjoyed everything we ordered. It is more continental than Mexican, which was our only disappointment, but we were not far from more typical Mexican restaurants. They offer juices at breakfast that are healthy and delicious. We can't wait to visit again!!
