Let me start by saying I truly enjoyed this vacation and would go back to this hotel anytime. But I stayed at the Secrets Marquis last year and preferred it to the Secrets Puerto Los Cabos resort. In short, the food was better at the Secrets Marquis and the hotel size made it feel more exclusive. Don't get me wrong the staff, the service, the rooms, the SPA, everything was amazing at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos. Everything was as promised. I just enjoyed my stay more at their sister resort.
The preferred section is great because it gives you access to your own private club with bar, food and special services available all day.
I was so happy to find out that they integrated the "breakfast nook" idea at this resort as well, for this was one of my favorite features of the Secrets Marquis. The concept is to have danishes, pastries and coffee waiting for you in your own little "secret box" as soon as you wake up! No one comes in your room, the goods are just left in that special nook every morning. The only difference at this Secrets is that you have to order it in advance (you can order only once for the whole week).
The hotel still looks and feels brand new because it's only been open since december. There are no smells whatsoever in the room or in the restaurants. We enjoyed all the restaurants but the Seaside Grill ended up being our favorite. The Portofino (italian) was very disappointing, Oceana (seafood) was okay and Himitsu (japanese) was good....but we suggest doing their "à la carte service" only, as we did not enjoy the Japanese restaurant on the night when we attended their "tepenyaki show". For lunch the market café (buffet) was great, but the seaside grill and barefoot grill had too much fried foods and not enough healthy options to my taste. I have no real complaints about this hotel and our stay was excellent. Our check-out was at noon but they offer a free late check out at 1 pm when available and hospitaly suites are available upon request (we had a late departure so we appreciated this feature).
The beach is long and clean but, as most beaches in Cabos, you can't swim right in front of the hotel. It is also pretty far from most buildings so it's a long walk for some people. If you want to swim or snorkel you will need to venture out of the hotel. The pools more than make up for this fact though.
The beautiful golf course runs through the property and some tee-offs are right in front of the pool and hot tubs. This did not seem to bother either the golfers or the vacationers. The golf course is 3 minutes away by car from the hotel and has a beautiful driving range.
