“Another great vacation at Secrets”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

Let me start by saying I truly enjoyed this vacation and would go back to this hotel anytime. But I stayed at the Secrets Marquis last year and preferred it to the Secrets Puerto Los Cabos resort. In short, the food was better at the Secrets Marquis and the hotel size made it feel more exclusive. Don't get me wrong the staff, the service, the rooms, the SPA, everything was amazing at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos. Everything was as promised. I just enjoyed my stay more at their sister resort.

The preferred section is great because it gives you access to your own private club with bar, food and special services available all day.

I was so happy to find out that they integrated the "breakfast nook" idea at this resort as well, for this was one of my favorite features of the Secrets Marquis. The concept is to have danishes, pastries and coffee waiting for you in your own little "secret box" as soon as you wake up! No one comes in your room, the goods are just left in that special nook every morning. The only difference at this Secrets is that you have to order it in advance (you can order only once for the whole week).

The hotel still looks and feels brand new because it's only been open since december. There are no smells whatsoever in the room or in the restaurants. We enjoyed all the restaurants but the Seaside Grill ended up being our favorite. The Portofino (italian) was very disappointing, Oceana (seafood) was okay and Himitsu (japanese) was good....but we suggest doing their "à la carte service" only, as we did not enjoy the Japanese restaurant on the night when we attended their "tepenyaki show". For lunch the market café (buffet) was great, but the seaside grill and barefoot grill had too much fried foods and not enough healthy options to my taste. I have no real complaints about this hotel and our stay was excellent. Our check-out was at noon but they offer a free late check out at 1 pm when available and hospitaly suites are available upon request (we had a late departure so we appreciated this feature).

The beach is long and clean but, as most beaches in Cabos, you can't swim right in front of the hotel. It is also pretty far from most buildings so it's a long walk for some people. If you want to swim or snorkel you will need to venture out of the hotel. The pools more than make up for this fact though.

The beautiful golf course runs through the property and some tee-offs are right in front of the pool and hot tubs. This did not seem to bother either the golfers or the vacationers. The golf course is 3 minutes away by car from the hotel and has a beautiful driving range.

This resort was perfect for a long weekend. The grounds were pretty and secluded from the hustle of the city. We found the service impeccable, whether it was room service, pool service or at the various restaurants. The food was great but not all the restaurants were open for each meal. Make sure to go to Oceana for breakfast!

Just returned from a short but wonderful stay at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos! Went for 3 nights for our 10th anniversary, and would definitely come back!

Got a great deal from Cheap Caribbean (Seas the Deal), where the week before, they choose the hotel you’ll be staying at (one of three in Cabo that are Adults only and 5-Star). Did some research on the hotel options and all three were highly rated and normally cost $500+ a night. So, either would have been fine with us. But really glad we got Secrets Puerto!

We booked transportation from the airport thru Cabo Incredible for $110 RT. Really easy to find at the airport, and on time when picked up at the hotel. Booked a few days ahead on line. Highly recommend!

Upgraded to the Preferred section (only because my wife wanted a spa tub on the balcony, and the preferred were the only rooms who had this). With the $200 coupon book given at registration (did NOT have to attend the VIP sales pitch to use them), the upgrade for the 3 nights came to just over $100/night. With the great view location of the room, hot tub on balcony and the preferred club access (included private bar/food lounge from 7am-11pm), it was worth the extra money.

We loved the Ocean restaurant, great location closest to the water! Portofino was nice as well (the Osso Bucco was a bit tough for me). Lunch was usually at the pool restaurant, never had the buffet. Breakfast was usually in the preferred club or room service after the Yoga/Pilates class!

Spa was not quite worth the $250+ for treatments. The spa itself with the cool plunge pool, hot tub, outdoor shower, etc. was great! But the staff was not quite knowledgeable enough on the massage treatments for them to charge so much. My wife and I had much better treatments elsewhere.

Pool drink service was great at the larger pool, but non-existent at the “quite” pool. It would also be good to have food service at both pools, which they do not at the moment.
All in all, a nice short trip at a gorgeous looking hotel with incredible ocean and golf course views!

Room Tip: Get a high floor (we had the 4th floor in the Preferred Section) for better view of the ocean! The s...

just got back from a week at this most lovely Secrets adult all inclusive --most excellent time at times just relaxing at one of the pools - at other times joining in on the entertainment (can you say doing yoga by the beach area and watching a movie under the stars?) -- the food at all the restaurants were top notch

Room Tip: we were assigned a room on the 5th floor - what a view to arrive to

My wife and I arrived at Cabos Airport on April 27th. Cab ride to Secrets was $65.00. We arrived and were immediately assigned a resort staff person to see to our needs. He enlighten us to special deals at the resort and excursion into town and gave us coupons to use on these extras for reduce prices. We had to give him $40.00 for the coupon book that was refundable if we would meet him first thing the next morning for a 90 minute tour of the resort. We did and met him at 9:00 am the next morning and he refunded me our $40.00. This turned into a nightmare Secrets vacation package membership presentation. They make all kinds of promises and the deal sounds great till you ask to see the contract. At that time they tell you, you can't see the contract till they scan your credit card. At that time and only then is the contract printed up and you can see it. Oh, and also that all sales are final. No cancellations allowed. Stay away from these shysters. This was the low point of our vacation. All the other people we spoke to had the same experience. Secrets should be ashamed of this practice.
After we put all this behind us we got on with our vacation. The hotel is very nice and all the restaurant's are very good. The staff is the best you could ask for. Everyone is very courteous and respectful. The resort is only about half full due to it being new. Don't think you're going there to swim in the ocean. The current and waves are ferocious. But there is nice palapas to sit or lay out under with staff serving drinks or what ever you may want.. If you want to get wet get into the very nice pool with swim up bars. If not for the high pressure sales crap at the very beginning this would have been a 100% perfect vacation and resort.

Room Tip: Stay on floors 4 or 5 to get a great view of the ocean.

We got a seas of the deals deal through Cheap Caribbean. A great value and amazing hotel. The rooms were nicely set up and the service every where on the resort was top notch. We stayed for 4 night and 5 days. The pool and hot tubs were the best in any all inclusive we have stayed. The beach was good but not swimmable. We took advantage of a few of the different dinning options. The room service was awesome and they deliver into a cool two sided door(secrets door). We stayed by the pool most of the time and drank the day away in the perfect weather. Hugo was our guy at the pool and would deliver new drinks before our last was empty. Everyone was looking to please you and not one person looked unhappy to be there. That seems like a given but we have been in other resorts were people don't seem that into it. Based on this experience i will return to cabo, I will also stay with secrets again if there other properties are as well laid out and full of warm and friendly people. I'd also add that this might be the best deal i have scored using various booking agents in the past. I would also recommend Cheap Caribbean again! Couple side notes. You are quite far from cabo san lucas a 30-40 minute ride in a cab and about 60 USD each way. You are on the other hand close to smaller but quaint San Jose del Cabo. That was like 10 minutes away and had shopping and art districts. We did neither because we really wanted to relax and enjoy the beautiful views.
