My wife and I spent a week at the Hyatt Ziva this past January as a winter getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would recommend this hotel. Large property and located away from the main city on San Jose's hotel row. Very nice facility and everything was clean and well kept. But the best part was the various theme restaurants, Mexican (of course!), Italian, French, Japanese and our favorite the Spanish restaurant tucked underneath the main building next to the theater entrance. Excellent food, great service and a wonderful week. We even watched the whales spouting from our 3rd floor room.

We always said we would never do an all inclusive and never go back to Mexico. But a good deal and a long cold winter changed our minds. And we are glad we did. Los Cabos was very different than other parts of Mexico that we had been to. We felt much safe,r and for the most part, it was easy to get around and the people were friendly. The hotel was beautiful. Based on the reveiws I thought we would have to negotiate for a nice room but weer pleasantly surprised. I am sure it helped that I was a diamond [or whatever they use] member. Intially we were told we could not have a late check out but they changed it. Aside from that and the executive lounge [ which is really not necessary at an all inclusive], I did not see where there was much advantage to being a member. Staff was great, very responsive. It was probably helpful that the resort was not very full. Which was very nice. Food was very good - which I did not really expect. The buffet was ok but the a la carte restaurants were very good. The beef dishes were probably not as high quality as the others but it is Mexico. You need to figure out a plan though because they are nto all open each night. They are stingy with the alcohol - you really have to request a stiff drink to obtain a normal one. And there is no alcohol in the mini bar but waters are easily obtained - but they were often warm. I was surprised to see how ripped the coaches were in the lobby. I am glad I did not see them when we checked in. They were made of some faux leather fabric which was not all that comfortable in the heat. And the beds were not the same as a normal Hyatt - unfortunately. Just ok.

The restaurants and food were great. Especially wanted to thank Eduardo Antonio Gonzalez, made us feel welcomed and took care of us in the restaurant.

Hotel can use a better game equipment (ping pong table, foosball table...)

Room Tip: The family suites close to play area are good for kids

PROS
Traveled as a couple, what an amazing experience, great hotel, great food, great scenery; just fabulous! Everyone was very nice, very professional, and always quick on their feet. The pools were great, especially the adult pool, less people, no children :)
The food by the pool is great, the tacos were yum yum yum! We went to the restaurants later, around 830/9pm, and there were no lines. Overall the food was great, service was very slow at Capri, the food at Lotus is great, and the scenery by Coral was amazing. Sandra is great, she helped with all our excursion/hotel transfer arrangements!

CON
Stayed while corporate events, so there were a few large parties, with signs labelled everywhere. On Hyatt's decorative pieces, you'd see the corporate signs, so that made it feel less remote and intimate. Definitely call ahead and be prepared to reserve spa and tour packages in advance. (No reservations needed for dinner)

Room Tip: Building 3 was fantastic, we didn't choose ocean-front but our balcony definitely had a wonderful view of it :)

Very impressive all inclusive resort. The staff members are truly amazing - very professional - too many to name but Claybert Bravo, Alberto at the Gym/Tennis Court, David at the Bell desk - were outstanding, just to name a few! Various restaurants on site to suit all different tastes. We've never been to an all inclusive resort before but this would be tough to beat.

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the ocean....it's worth the extra $$$$, trust me!
