My husband and I came here for our honeymoon. It was a wonderful experience! The staff is helpful and accommodating. They are always willing to help. The food in the restaurants was delicious, and the desserts were amazing!I would recommend this resort to anyone looking into visiting Cabo.

Food: My husband and I stayed at the Hyatt Ziva for a full week. It was our first All-Inclusive experience, so we were a bit wary -- about the food in particular. We needn't have been concerned because we were absolutely impressed with most all the restaurants. We ate at the International Buffet every morning for breakfast, and especially loved the chilaquiles (in salsa verde), waffles, and green juice. For lunch, our favorite spot was the Cocoloco (?) bar by the pool for shrimp tacos - amazing with the spicy habanero sauce! And for dinner, we visited all the restaurants except for the Spanish one (disappointing that it was closed). Lotus (Japanese) and Bon Vivant (French) were our favorites. The food was beautifully presented as well as fresh and high quality. Our only disappointing meal at the Hyatt was at the Hacienda steak restaurant. Living in LA we have a wealth of restaurants that serve incredible, nearly-perfect steaks, and the ones at Hacienda were cold, overly-salted, and just sub-par. The sides were nearly inedible as well. We high-tailed it to the buffet immediately afterwards.

Service: I started my vacation with a bandaged up ankle and bad limp due to a terrible sprain I had suffered a few weeks prior. Almost all of our "regular peeps" asked about my progress every day, which was so sweet! The staff at the Hyatt are truly awesome people. We simply must mention Ruben at Bon Vivant, as he was a fantastic waiter. Professional, efficient, and helpful, our party of 3 were very impressed by him. Karen at the Lobby Bar was also stellar, as she greeted us with a smile every night when we walked in for our nightcap, and knew our orders after the first night. She is so sweet and made us feel very welcome. And finally, Lugardo at the International Buffet was also another favorite, as he served with a jovial smile and a joke or two. We looked forward to seeing him every morning.

Tips: Our group tipped generously everywhere we went. The Hyatt staff offer amazing service to their guests and I was horrified to see many, many people simply walk away from their tables after a long meal. Seriously, people?? All meals and drinks may be included, but to not show appreciation for good service is just so rude. =/ Please tip these hard workers!
If you don't plan on leaving the resort, I'd bring cash with you and get change in dollar bills at the front desk. Even $1 or $2 is appreciated, though we often left much more for our dinner meals. They also have ATM machines next to the lobby, which dispense both American dollars and pesos - though foreign transaction fees are never fun to come home to.

Spa: I had a deep tissue massage from Veronica, who was AMAZING. They were having a special that day - $115 for 80 minutes and it was worth every penny. Veronica knows what she is doing, and while the pressure wasn't as strong as a real deep tissue massage, it was absolutely perfect for me. 80 minutes of pure bliss!

Wifi: Yes, as mentioned ad nauseum, it sucks. Our phones only worked on our balcony (which we avoided after one night - more to come on that), in the Lobby Bar, lobby, and certain areas by the pool. But really, are you going on vacay to be on your smartphone?

Room: We stayed in a family suite - room #1701 in the main building. Here's where I had to dock a star. We were very pleased with our actual room. Spacious, clean, and comfortable, we whooped when we walked in our first day we were so impressed. We never had any trouble with the AC, and if anything, I was a little cold at nights and had to burrow inside the blankets. My cold-loving husband, on the other hand, was loving it. Here's where it went south. On our 3rd day, we went out to the balcony and found a HUGE cockroach dead on its back. This sucker was about 3 inches long and right next to the entrance of our room. Since it was outside, we didn't make a big deal of it and disposed of it ourselves. A couple of days later, however, upon entering our room from an excursion we found another gigantic cockroach, this time inside the room. We went to the front desk, and they immediately sent someone up to get rid of it. Now as you all know, where there's 1 (or 2) cockroaches, there are many more. =/ This made my stomach turn. Also, there was a mosquito nest somewhere on our balcony because both my husband and I got more than 20 angry, large bites - each(!) after sitting on the balcony for about half an hour one night. These mosquito bites were no joke. We got back on Monday (it's Friday today) and we're still scratching. The mosquitos coupled with the cockroaches - obviously management needs to pay a bit more attention to pest control.
The noise level some evenings was a bit much. I think a neighboring hotel must have a club or something because the bass from the speakers kept me awake quite a few nights. More insulation would have been nice, though it wasn't a huge deal.

Occupancy: We arrived on 8/11, which was the first week after most US schools started, therefore we didn't experience the huge crowds others had before us. We never had to wait longer than 30 minutes for a restaurant - and this was only at Lotus, for the Teppan Yakki portion. There were no lines, pool chairs were ample, and we never felt packed in. Those without children may want to consider waiting to schedule your trip until after schools start.

This was our second summer in a row in Cabo, so we probably won't be returning for another few years, but if we do, we will definitely go back to the Hyatt Ziva! Thanks for a wonderful, restful, relaxing vacation!

Swim, Drink, have fun in the hotel but for good food go outside the hotel.

Good
- Great for kids
- Pool
- Property
- Bar
- Free show for kids in the night
- Free show for adults in the night
- Good Room

The only issue with this place ( this is the 1st all inclusive we have been to). Everything was great but the food is really not good.
You pretty much land up eating buffet during your stay because the Ala carte restaurants are hard to get and the buffet food is better than the Ala carte.

The eggs in the morning were good and they had like a mongolian grill thing going which was okay. THe only time we had good food was when we went to downtown cabo next to the marina and ate at the hotel there. Before you go to an all inclusive resort do some research and check out the restuarants in and around the all inclusive resort (close by) because by the 2nd day you will want some good food.
The free booze was awesome and the pool is awesome but I wish at least the mexican food was good here.
Oh well it is all inclusive ;)

Room Tip: Ask for a big suite with 2 rooms if you are travelling with children. We got lucky and got a big roo...

Spent a week at the Hyatt Ziva (8/8 - 8/15/2014) with my wife and 2 kids (ages 7 & 8) along with another family. Having been to several AI resorts throughout Mexico and the Carribean, the Hyatt Ziva IMO is a decent value for the family vacation. However, there is room for improvement.

Pros:
- Beach location. Just steps from the pool is the beautiful Sea of Cortez.
- Food quality; A la carte dining offered for dinner. A nice departure from the buffet line.
- Pool is spacious. Nice swim up bar next to a gorgeous infinity pool.
- Hotel employees generally were very friendly. Eduardo Antonio Gonzalez always made our family feel welcome and was an incredible host @ the international restaurant.
- Good quality liquor offered, however you must request it by name (eg Don Julio, Absolut, Bacardi, etc). Otherwise the cheap stuff is provided.

Cons:
- Check in was a disaster. The room we were assigned to was occupied by someone else. Our bell boy made several attempts over the phone to remedy the situation but after being given the run-around and placed on hold for +15 mins, he conceded that it would be best for us to return to the front desk to resolve. Eventually we were provided a room with a better view and location.
- Rooms are a bit dark and dated. We stayed in Room 2127
- Air Conditioning everywhere throughout the resort was inadequate. Our room was damp and warm. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. Consistently ~26 C / 80 F. We met several other families who also complained about this. Ditto for the restaurants/bars -- It's not cool to look like Patrick Ewing in the fourth quarter while sipping your miso soup. Would be wise to BRING A TOWEL.
- WiFi is insufficient. Regularly had problems connecting.
- Kids club could use some video games.

All in all, a decent place with great potential. The employees really do try their best, but they could use some additional training on how to better work together between departments to resolve issues (see above issue w/ Check-In).

I would consider going back again if they fix their air-conditioning issue for the sake of their guests' comfort.

Arriving at the resort was no easy task. Would never use Gray Line transfer again. From landing to resort took 2.5 hours. Had to wait for all other travelers before van could leave. Upon arriving, check in was easy, since we booked Premium room, private check in was included. This was a nice feature, since lines were quite long. They staff was not extremely informative about the resort. The weather there was quite hot and humid. I the only air conditioning in mainly in the hotel rooms and restaurants. I did not like at all, that the restaurants did not take reservations. At times, we could not even get into a restaurant at all in the evening and if we did, we usually ate around 9:00 pm or 10:00pm. If you eat at 6:00pm, there may not have been a wait. Dinner on average would take at around 1.5 hours. The pool area is crazy. Since, there is no swimming on the beach, the pool is packed. If you don't go down and put your towel out, between 7 and 8am, you will not get a chaise. The chaises are too close together. The adult pool was very very quiet. There is no view and too confined. It was so hot because, there was no breeze at all. My husband and I decided to try, even though a family resort, and will not be going back. Just too busy. If you are a family, it was great, except for the late dining. The food at all restaurants was very good. Drinks were ok, but had to wait a long time at the pool. The wifi was very slow to non-existant at times. Had the best luck with wifi at the pool area. Premium is probably not worth it. There is a private bar, if you can find it. Rooms the same.

Room Tip: Building C was nice. Any room will probably have a nice view. The Premium rooms are no different...

Hyatt Ziva absolutely met and even exceeded our expectations of what hotel hospitality should be about. The hotel is very clean, beginning from the room all the way to the hotel grounds. The staff is extremely friendly. It offers variety of food, buffet and specialty restaurants with great food choices. For our breakfast and lunch we liked to have a table in the area where Eduardo is helping guests. Eduardo is a very nice attendant, always ready to accommodate our needs. We had 6 relaxing days here complete with great service
